This was our first time staying at a Holiday Inn Express anywhere. Location was a factor, as was price/value and the amenities, including the free hot breakfast. We were assigned a third-floor room--just as I had requested. We stayed in late September-early October so the hotel wasn't terribly full, and our room was extremely quiet. Unlike other hotels, the rooms here are very large, and there is much unused space. In place of a tub/shower combination, our room had a large shower. That was fine, except that it had very little space for shampoo/conditioner/lotion, razors, etc.; also no thought was given to women needing to shave their legs--no ledge or shelf. We used the Wi-Fi with no problems. The breakfast has a nice selection of hot/cold items (we loved the pancake machine!). The evening reception puzzled me because they serve three kinds of beer, along with fruit juice, but no wine. Nevertheless, we will be returning to the Ventura area as we continue our house hunt, and will definitely stay at this hotel again.

We stayed here for several weeks, while working on the local Naval Base. The staff were always friendly and helpful and took care of our requests promptly and professionally. I would like to thank Sierra, Peggy, and Deanna at the front desk, the two wonderful ladies who do the breakfast each day, and Vilma at the afternoon afterwork reception with the snacks, drinks and conversation. I will definitely stay at this HIE any time we are in the area.

The breakfasts are typical Holiday Inn; nothing special. I do like the pancake machine...good batter...quick...not as messy as a waffle maker.
My biggest complaint with all Holiday Inns relates to the plates and eating utensils: The quality of the utensils screams CHEAP!
They have to be the lowest quality available..very flimsy. The area is nice and hospitable, the food okay, but the utensils are the worst. Even if everything else was great, the utensils would kill the kudos.
You can do better.
