Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Enjoyable stay I had a wonderful stay at this Holiday Inn Express and the staff was fantastic. I was thinking this location was in the downtown area of Portland and its not. It's a few blocks down from a really trendy area in the Nob Hill area of Portland where there are tons of restaurants. The hotel's location is ok and it’s within walking distance of public transportation. The breakfast was ok although I don’t remember seeing any fresh fruit like apples, oranges or bananas but the cinnamon rolls made up for it yummy. I would stay at this location again. The staff was wonderful ; they were extremely helpful and knowledgable. These are all givens when one considers we are speaking about a priority club property. The most beneficial attribute of this property is its location. The property sits just a a couple of city blocks north of the trendy NW portland neighborhood and the trolley. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Extraordinary customer service The purpose for my trip was to record an interview with a veteran who has PTSD for an educational video. Shortly before we were to meet, he asked that we shoot it at the hotel. I inquired about availability of a conference room (all were booked) so I asked the (early Sat. a.m.) front desk guy what time Housekeeping was likely to break out the vacuums on the second floor so I could plan the interview around the noise. He must have had a bad night because he seemed totally disinterested in answering that question, saying they will do it whenever they get to it. Later that morning as I awaited the arrival of the interview subject, I asked the same question of Robin, who had replaced the front desk guy. To say she was extraordinary is understatement. She arranged for Housekeeping to delay vacuuming on the second floor for about 30 minutes to accommodate our interview. I, my crew and our interviewee really appreciated that. She turned a rather negative feeling about the property into a very positive experience, and we wish to thank her for that. December 19, 2012

Holiday Inn Express always provides consistently good service at a fair price and Portland-NW Downtown is no exception. We especially appreciated the courteous staff especially housekeeping staff. They were great! This hotel sits at the base of 23rd St. or the Nob Hill area which means hundreds of great shops and restaurants are within an easy walk, We will stay here again, December 11, 2012
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Feels Like Home We stay at this hotel every time we are in Portland. The last time was 11/24-26 to see The Trans Siberian Orchestra at The Rose Garden. We live in Gold Beach OR and find staying at the same hotel makes getting around "the big city" much easier for us. We have been staying here since 2005 when we went to Portland to see The Rolling Stones at The Rose Garden - five minutes from the hotel. We come to Portland for medical visits at OHSU and to come to concerts and other cultural events in the City. We have gotten to know the staff very well. My husband had unplanned open heart surgery at OHSU in April 2010 and I had to stay at the hotel for a month while he was hospitalized. The staff was wonderful, caring, and supportive of/to me through all of the medical procedures. Would recommend this hotel to anyone who wants an easy location - the freeway is right there and 23rd Avenue has amazing shops and restaurants. We have even ordered the comforter that is on the bed and sets of sheets for our bed at home. Every time we go back, it feels like coming home. December 1, 2012

The Portland Downtown overall experience is great, with excellent staff their to help you relax after working long hours on a project. This hotel I'd have to rate number one out of about 30 other sites this year. Easy to drive too, dinning just a short walk away. Best regards to the staff; Capt. Don November 18, 2012
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Nice Accomodations Visited some friends and family for a couple of days and had a great stay here. The whole place felt very new and updated. Rooms were awesome. I think we had reserved a king-sized bed but instead got a queen. This was fine, however, as it was in one of the wheelchair accessible rooms which had it's own little living room and kitchenette - plenty of space to spread out. Breakfast was great and Kobo coffee was right next store. Plus a ten minute walk to the streetcar that had us downtown in a few minutes. Definitely recommend. The only downside? Not the hotel's fault at all: Someone on our floor decided it'd be a good idea to smoke weed in their room and it was heavy in the hallway. I didn't care, but my pregnant wife sure did. Called the desk to see if we could move rooms (even though there was no smoke in our room) but they were booked up. He said he'd try and figure out where it was coming from, but I have no idea if he did. October 29, 2012
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Surprising result I somewhat blindly chose this property after a cursory look at the hotel's website. As I came down off of the bridge of the 405, I thought to myself "uh oh". Didn't look much like the "Nob Hill" neighborhood, more like "the hood". Industrial buildings and a Jack-in-the-box drive-through next door. I cruised a few blocks around and decided to try at least one night. At check-in, I asked the staff member for recommendations on dining options. She whipped-out a area map and with a high level of detail and excitement gave me about 70 choices within an easy walk. I then discovered that the hotel was on the EDGE of the Nob Hill neighborhood - whew! The location is actually very convenient to most points in Portland, the traffic is manageable, and the dining options are in-fact superb. The property is newer, smart, well-kept, and a relative bargain. Bringing the wife next time! October 24, 2012

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Front Desk Clerk Reservation was made weeks in advance. Arrived late on Monday the clerk gave me a room and key but the key would not work she said that the earlier staff had reassigned the room and she forgot to check that list she gave me two more rooms but when I went to the rooms there was already someone in the room (quite embarrasing) then she gave me two more rooms that the key would not work because they had been reassigned then the final and sixth room she gave me was not what I requested so she had to give me another room which was finally unoccupied and what I had requested (king bed). It took over an hour before I was in a room and she just kept saying I am sorry but i am having a hard time today. She did offer me a snack but I thought that was not enough to compensate me so I declined. I feel that I shouold be compensated and I would like to have reward points added to my account and I feel you can determine a resaonable amount based on my experience. October 3, 2012
