I was so very pleasantly surprised with this stay. You see my Dad had just died and we were in Poughkeepsie to bury him. This entire ordeal was extremely rushed and stressful as my stepmother wanted to get him in the ground before Thanksgiving. He died on the 18th and I had to get my kids home from various colleges and airports then be in Poughkeepsie to wake/bury him on the evening of the 20th/21st.
At check-in Rachel had a gift for us as Priority members. I cannot tell you how very welcome the bottle of water and snacks were! The room was just perfect. Clean, crisp and conducive to a quick nap before the wake.
The bathroom was quirky in a neat way: the sink was in the corner! The room and bath were spotless, including the mirrors. With 51, 23 and 19 year old females, this was a blessing! We could all put on our make-up, do our hair, etc.
Because of the stressful situation I don't remember all of the details, but I can assure you that had they been negative I would have remembered! I am very happy to report that this Holiday Inn was so very nice and there were no issues ... which made for a comfortable stay just when I needed it!
Kudos to this staff! Thank you for your kindness! The cemetery that my Dad is in happens to be just across the street... when I visit with him, guess where I'll stay? ☺

I was very pleased with my stay at this property. The staff was great. During my stay there a snow storm and I was pleasantly surprised to find the parking lot plowed and the snow removed from the windows of my car.

The friendly clerk at the front desk wanted to place us away from the noise of a group in the hotel and away from the elevators - very kind of him. Unfortunately, the guests (not the group of student athletes) the night we were there were totally clueless about how voices travel in the hallways. Sleep was interrupted about every 90 minutes by guests talking loudly in the hall. Perhaps a sign in the halls requesting QUIET between 10 and 7 would be a good idea. The king room with the pull out couch was really not very useful for the third member of our party. If the bed had been pulled out, the people in the king bed would not be able to use that side of the bed. Water heat in the morning was not working, but they got right on the problem and fixed it.

My wife and I came to Poughkeepsie to attend a niece's music recital at Vassar College. We chose Holiday Inn as a nearby and reasonably priced overnight base. We were generally pleased at the courteous and efficient staff and accommodations. Only one small complaint – the heater/air conditioner was rather noisy, but otherwise all was fine.

Stayed for work recently for 3 nights. Breakfatst seems to rotate so you don't get the same thing (in terms of eggs and sausage/bacon) two days in a row, a nice touch. Housekeeping was awesome, it's nice to see attention to detail regarding towels and bedding and such. Slight problem during stay was fixed quite quickly, and with a smile.
The only slightly bad thing I have to say is that it feels a teeny tiny bit tired in terms of decor, wallpaper in hallways, carpets in hallways. But the value of what you get for your money makes up for that.
Would definately recommend!

The room was clean and comfortable, check-in was easy, and the shuttle to the train station worked well. The complimentary breakfast could be improved with more whole grains and egg choices that didn't have meat or cheese in them.

We love Holiday Inn's and generally stay at "full service" hotels, but we have stayed at the Poughkeepsie Express a few times - family just moved there - and it's been great.. location, check in/check out, TV, Room amenities.. Fridge, Microwave.. Cookies at check in.. Yeah!! One time we needed extra pillows, and they brought them asap - Really - just a great hotel.. Staff have been great every time we have been there - they gave us a great restaurant choice one time, they helped me find a store I needed another time - just great! Also - as all Holiday Inn's that we know of - free wi-fi - good signal strength.. just everything we need.. and the breakfast was like a full buffet breakfast - not just coffee and muffins.. Really great!

Came to town to visit the Culianry Institute and the hotel was an excellent choice. Easy to find for out of town travelers, located perfectly to Poughkeepsie and the CIA. Staff was well informed and very hospitable.
Great value for a quick trip into town and will definitely visit again when returning.

Our room was comfortable and clean, heater worked well, continental breakfast was just acceptable. The Holiday Inn Express room or hotel, in general, was not as nice as the regular Holiday Inn Hotel rooms we usually stay in,( which are more expensive usually and have larger bath counters and better ammenties.) This Express was also expensive for the accomodations. I would stay at a real Holiday Inn anyday. Yet, it was a good location for New Year's Eve.

I'll make this short and sweet. You can't go wrong when you stay at the Holiday Inn Express.
The rooms are clean and comfortable. There's a workout room (that I never have time for, unfortunately). And the FREE breakfast is always welcome. The cinnamon buns are excellent, in fact.
A great place to stay the night when on business or family functions!

I visit Vassar College and this hotel is in a perfect location for easily driving to it. It's also less than 3 miles from the train station in downtown Poughkeepsie, which I needed to use during this trip. The manager at the desk was very helpful in giving directions and pointers on parking at the station, also in recommending restaurants which are many and close by. The room was squeaky clean, and the bed was so comfortable.
This is one of the better of the Holiday Inn Expresses I've stayed at -- and I am platinum with their frequent sleeper club (Priority Club)!

This is our third year of staying at this particular HIE. We love the breakfast setup of watching the news and nibbling on the good offerings. But this time, the breakfast room was dominated by about thirty girls who seemed to belong to a sports team. They had taken over. The girls were sitting on the floor, combing and brushing their hair (disgusting). The grownups with them had turned off the TV and were holding a loud conversation shouting across the room to one and another of the team members. I was sorry that the manager did not ride herd over this group so that the rest of us could enjoy our morning.

We stay in this hotel several times every year. There are many new hotels in the area, but we will always return to this Holiday Inn Express.

The elevator smelled of BO. I know they keep them clean, there was a woman polishing the brass in the elevator. However, the elevator smelled terribly. I think it could have been the rug or maybe they have to polish the walls too.

Upon arrival to our room, it smelled really bad, had to track down a spray from one of the carts in the hallway. A Musty smell.
The next day, at breakfast, the eggs were cold, and no one was around to help out right away. Then the following day at Breakfast items were being taken away as we were trying to get our breakfast, right at 10:30 am.
Atleast let people finish getting their breakfast before you start locking up the food. We were all there for a wedding in the area, and our family took up alot of your rooms that weekend.
We wer very disappointed in our stay at your hotel.
Pillows were terrible/beds need to be upgraded.
This location should stock local pamphets for attactions in the area. Terrible selection.
We would not stay there again. Sorry, you need to do some improvements.

The front desk staff were very courteous and responsive to questions and requests. The room was clean, comfortable, quiet and spacious, just what we needed after a long day on the road.
The only nit to pick is that we couldn't get hot water at the bathroom sink after about 4:00 p.m. each day, and the shower seemed to take several minutes to warm up around the same time of day. In the mornings, however, hot water was plentiful.

We were taken care of promptly and received the room we reserved for a handicapped person. The room was clean and the beds were comfortable. The bathroom was very nice. The temperature controls worked very well and we were very comfortable.
Continental Breakfast in the morning had a great
selection of both hot and cold foods. We highly recommend this place!
