Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Incorrectly Billed We are setup with a Dirct Bill with this hotel, and the person from the front desk, didn't know how to bill me for this room. She ask me for my credit card and told me she would correct this in the morning as soon as the manager got in. In the morning they had already charged my card for the room and slip me the bill under the door before I woke up. I was going to stay another night too, but didn't trust this hotel because how this was handled. Also I'm a platumum member and this hotel is the only hotel that I stayed last month that didn't post the bill online. So I had to call them to Fax me the bill. December 16, 2013
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Look elsewhere. Where to start......I spend over 200 nights annually in hotels so I've seen a few. Traffic on the exit to this hotel from town is ridiculous. 2 mile backup on the interstate to the off ramp. I figured it was holiday traffic etc. but it was the same on a Tuesday evening. Front desk was, well there. No greetings really, no thanks for being a Priority Club Platinum, not even the courtesy free bottle of water. Went back down for some plastic cutlery for my dinner and seemed to be causing a bit of bother because they had packed it all away after breakfast. I remember initialing on the check in paperwork for the "no pets" line. Got to my room and there was pet hair all over both of the coverlets on the beds, THANKS! Woke up and the room reeked of bacon grease. Seems the middle open lobby area on the second floor is a magnet for the breakfast fumes. I WAS scheduled to stay 11 nights there but after the 2nd night I was done. Much happier in another express on the SE side of town. December 8, 2013
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Great property unprofessional staff The rooms were pleasant. The décor was nice. The staff was completely unprofessional. I worked my way through college as a hotel manager of a large downtown property in a major city. I know how to train and manage a staff. The employees I came in contact with at this location need to find other work. I politely explained to one of the worst employees that if she worked for me I would terminate her. I have family in the area and this property is close to their home, but I will never stay in this property again. December 3, 2013

The staff is always friendly, the rooms quiet and clean, the breakfast is always well stocked and tables are kept clean. Great place to spend the night! December 2, 2013

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Adequate stay First I will say this was s game day weekend so the place was crowded. We had stayed here before and found it convenient to downtown, clean and a good choice over the high prices downtown. We checked in early afternoon and place was empty at the time. We were given a room on first floor facing noisy parking lot. When we asked to be given a room in a different location we were told hotel was full even though it was apparent many guests had not checked in yet. We booked very early through ing as priority members so were surprised staff did not even make effort to change room. (I guess rooms were assigned prior to guests arriving and staff appeared to not be willing to take time to try to assist). Other than this, room was clean. Breakfast adequate. Only other issue was no hot water the first morning. Were told by front desk it was because hotel was full. We have never experienced this at any other hotel even on full weekends. All this being said, based on previous experience and convenience, will probably give this hotel a try again. November 16, 2013

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Bath The bath tub water faucet was reversed. The Cold water was actually the HOT and the HOT water was the Cold. Went ot take a nice soothing HOT bath, and stepped in the water to find it was freezing COLD! because the fixutre was input incorrectly. November 12, 2013

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by One of the best I travel the Eastern Half of the USA and stay in a lot of Holiday Inn Express properties. This property is one of my top two of all the properties I stay at. They always follow the rules. My two most important criteria are friendly, efficent staff and how clean a property is. After a long day of travel and customers I can count on the welcome mat being out and a clean room at the Powell location. Kudos to Keith and his staff. A Platinum Elite, Ambassador member. Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Noisy I was in room #217 and we also had #219 which is in an open hallway right above the lobby-breakfast area. You hear everyone in the lobby and all the elevator noise. 217 and 219 and the rooms below should either had the hallways enclosed or the rooms soundproofed better. People get off the elevator, stand looking down at the lobby and talk all hours of the night right out side your door. Overall the facility was nice but this very poor building design would stop me from ever staying again if I had to stay in the same rooms. October 17, 2013

The front desk employee was less than pleasant but who knows maybe she was not feeling well. There was a used washcloth slung over the shower curtain when I checked into the room. Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Bad Internet provider This property is using an internet provider that forces ADs onto the tops of every browser page - the ads are for local (Knoxville) businesses. No way to get stop them from returning when you close them out. Most Holiday Inn properties don't do this - but I guess this franchise does - I won't be staying there again as I require high speed internet for business and can't have ads popping up. - The ads were very specific to this hotel location and provider and are NOT specific to my computer or browser (no ads in any other location). On top of that, even with the ads, the internet connection was slow compared to many hotels. Not good for a business trip. September 22, 2013
