Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Clean, rooms great, but gym needs some work The rooms were very nicely renovated, modern, and chic. Big bonus with the iHome dock for your iPhone/iPod. Really needs to be a standard in all rooms. Only let-down is that the gym is extremely outdated. Machines seem to be from the 1980s. Dissappointed with that. November 21, 2012
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by clean, friendly, affordable and near Stanford While Holiday Inn Express is not known for it's luxury and this location is even less "up-scale" that others I've stayed at... This is a very clean former motel. The rooms open to the outside (no hallway) and there is no elevator. The staff are especially helpful and friendly. The grounds and front desk/breakfast room is also well maintained and clean. Because of this and the easy proximity to Stanford University hospital and the affordable room rates, I'll be back. Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Fine rooms - staff had an attitude A group of us stayed at the hotel, at one time staying in five rooms. We spoke with the desk clerk to see about getting a reduced rate (the cost for the 3rd night was a hundred dollars higher than the first night) and she suggested that we come back tomorrow to speak with the manager. The next day, I approached the desk, asking the person at the front desk if she was the manager. She answered curtly, "How may I help you?" My brother then approached her asking about a break on the rates, and she said that she would check and let us know the next day. Now two days are passed and she tells him no. Her tone is fairly nasty and when my brother gets upset by what he feels is a stalling tactic, she calls him unprofessional. They concede, very ungraciously, giving us a $30 break on three nights of the 11 nights that our group stayed there. Also, while not a big deal, the work out room is down for renovation, but they didn't tell us that till after we checked in. Not a place that I would recommend November 18, 2012

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Unbelievably rude treatment at front desk We were told that we did not have a reservation in spite of the fact that we had made a reservation by telephone with the hotel staff and received a reservation number. We were told that we must vacate the room one day early. This was a tremendous inconvenience since we were visiting family and did not have another hotel. We spent the morning repacking and searching for a new hotel instead of visiting our little grandchildren as planned. We will never stay at this hotel again. November 8, 2012

I try to stay in locations that afford me the opportunity to conduct my business related responsibilities and still visit interesting sights in the area. The Redwood City/Menlo Park Holiday Inn Express was the perfect location for me on this trip. The staff was superb and so-o-o helpful in every way. Thank you HIE. November 2, 2012

I was outside of the allowable cancellation window & the motel ownership would have been well within their rights to charge me for the room. They did not however and I am very pleased. I would also like to mention that this Holiday Inn had the best breakfast I have eaten @ any motel and I have stayed @ 4 Holiday Inn Expresses over the last 3 months. Additionally, they had fresh coffee available 24 hours a day & this is a bonus for me as I like to drink coffee late @ night. October 9, 2012

When we arrived at our room we were pleasantly surprised as to how big and comfortable the rooms was. The complimentary breakfast was excellent, kid friendly. Overall, great experience. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Awesome room and staff I would HIGHLY recommend staying at the Redwood City/Menlo Park Holiday Inn Express. We stayed in a king suite. Our room was spacious with a very comfortable bed. The wireless internet connection was excellent with a very fast link up. The breakfast had great variety with several hot choices each morning - much more than you would normally find with a free breakfast. The coffee was excellent. The staff was friendly and very, very helpful. The only downside, and really this even turned out not to be a problem, was the busy street it's located on. But seriously, it didn't bother me at all. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Best Holiday Inn I have visited This was a great experience for me & my entire family. We all had great rooms to sleep in. I think it is the most comfortable mattress I have had at a hotel. They even had soft & firm pillows labeled on the bed. The complimentary continental breakfast was the best I have ever had. There were lots of options every day. The staff was also wonderful. I would see them working & they always stopped and smiled at you. Usually when I see staff at a hotel that is cleaning a room they don't make eye contact with you. This was a nice change. The prices were fair on the weekend & rather high during the week. I realize that this is for the business travelers but having stayed a full weekend I wish the rate for the weekend would have extended to my final day which was a weekday. That would be my only negative comment for this hotel. September 14, 2012
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great experience Although this is an older property that has been remodeled, the hotel was superb. The room was spotless, the staff was friendly, the mattress excellent. One especially nice touch was getting freshly baked cookies upon arriving and some delicious, complimentary treats awaiting us in our room. Breakfast was also great. Wonderful place to stay.
