Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Room From the moment we walked in we were impressed by the friendliness of the young man at the front desk. He was also helpful in sending us to a resturant we enjoyed. The room and bathroom were both clean and decorated very nicely. This is the first time I have ever received a gift bag for being a priority guest. We had a great night sleep and took of the next morning. We were so impressed that we stopped at another Holiday Inn Express when we got into Florida, it was not as good an experience. We'll certainly be back when we travel through Richmond. January 8, 2013
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by piority dosen't count here called ahead to say was going to arrive early (2;00 pm) was told no problem room would be ready, got there at 2:20 had to wait till 3;20 , while waitting two other people came in and got rooms and one even got a priorty gift sack, after my room finally ready was expressly told would have to pay for my dog, said no problem, no ack of being piroty member or anything.This is first time was ever treated like this , I think they didn't like my lil doggie!!!! Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great night sleep& Caring staff: priceless! Even though our stay was brief, it was so enjoyable & peaceful. Each Staff member was so courteous and helpful. I'd like to single out Allen (front desk#, whom my husband and I recognized from our stay #many months ago#. At that time, during check-in, a very boisterous gentleman came in with many demands. Allen was extremely professional #while working with us, and trying determine just what the man was saying#. After exhausting every avenue for resolution, Allen politely but firmly explained he wouldn't tolerate this man's swearing, especially while other guests were near. Since the gentleman appeared to have been inebriated, and would simply not stay in control verbally, Allen picked up the phone to call 911. At that point the man left the site. Allen apologized profusely to us for the delay, & we were very impressed with the ways in which he handled himself and the situation. It made us feel safer #we had arrived very late that night#, even though we knew it was a very isolated incident. If it's possible, we'd like this to serve as a letter of thanks to him, and forwarded to his supervisor or HR manager). Thanks!! December 18, 2012

The only problem we experienced was the breakfast area. The freshness on some the items such as bread/pastries and fruit could use improvement. Breakfast was only average, but they did have a bus load of people that seemed to overload the one person working at breakfast. Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Enjoyed my stay The staff was helpful and cheerful. Breakfast was stocked and operational for the times posted. The room was clean, had NFL Network (necessity for a Thursday night), and fairly spacious. It had a microwave, fridge, and a big bathroom. Proximity to fast food restaurants was great, many were in walking distance. There's a few sit down restaurants up the road, and the local pizza shop delivered. November 5, 2012
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Attention to details Through my work I have overnight travel at least 2 nights a month and have stayed in hotels across the state, including many Holiday Inn Expresses. I have to say this location, although perhaps because it is newer than other locations, was the absolute fanciest and most relaxing stay I have had. At check-in, although just a bottom level member, the clerks thank me for being a Priority Club member and provided me with a goody bag with a bottled water, a granola bar, a package of peanut butter crackers, a peppermint patty, and a chocolate that said "priority club" on the gold foil. When I got to the room and turned on the TV the welcome page included a personal message with my name wishing me a good stay. I didn't access any of the other amenities but this alone went above and beyond my expectations. I stayed at a different holiday inn express the following night and it just did not compare. Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Customer Service Skills need enhanced We have always stayed at this Holiday Inn when visiting Richmond. I am a Richmond native and alumni of EKU. Three of my four children graduated from EKU. We were in Richmond for my daughter to take a very important test on Saturday morning. Upon check in the male desk person was a little short with me but I was not overly upset. Later my daughter discovered that she had forgotten her toothbrush so went to the desk to ask for a toothbrush. The gentleman at the counter was on the phone explaining to someone on the phone that they had no rooms available because it was EKU homecoming. After he was off the phone when my daughter asked for the toothbrush she casually asked the gentlemen who EKU was playing for homecoming. He told her rather short that he did not know as he was not from here. It would seem to me if you worked in a college town and that contributed to your income you would at least know why your hotel was full!!! I don't know if he was just stressed or if he could use a refreser in customer service. Also, the noise level in the main hall where our room was located was horrible. I went out and asked the people across the hall from us who were partying in the hall to please lower there voices at 10, and 12 as we were here to take a test early on Saturday morning. They were still going strong at 3:00 a.m. I know the desk person had to hear the loud noise. October 19, 2012
