When we checked in we noticed the room was very hot. When we turned on the A/C and lowered the temp. hot air came out. We called the front desk and they said someone would be in to check it as soon as possible. We left for a wedding we were attending and six hours later when we returned the room was still hot. We gave up on someone coming to check the problem and went to bed. It was like sleeping in a sauna even with the unit off. Must have had two hours good sleep all night. What a bummer.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by james1058 ESPN cable not working/hotel invoice issues
The room was fine, enjoyed the sleep, staff were friendly. The cable for ESPN, ESPN2 was out and had been out for a while per hotel staff, this was not good. They did not have my receipt at check-out, staff said the printer was down. They indicated that an e-mail would be sent. I called 4 days later after not getting an e-mail, was then told the e-mail does not always work. I finally got a fax copy of the hotel recepit. I never had this type of experience with this hotel chain, hope they work to get this fixed.

My father passed away and I had to make a reservation in Riverhead. I thought I might have to take my dog, (in the end didn't take him.) so I booked this hotel. I am grateful that there are hotels that are pet friendly, but this hotel leaves a lot to be desired. Although the hotel was clean, the rooms dull decor lacked style, with the cold and dismal outdoors this room only made a depressing visit, even more depressing. It is down the street from a hospital, so the glare of ambulances going by was not good for trying to rest or take a nap. Thankfully after midnight the sirens stopped. The room had very poor ventilation. The bathroom had no manual fan for ventilation, so if you took a shower or bath, you couldn't see a thing. Heaven forbid you had to "use" the bathroom, it was terrible. The room had a ineffective heating/air system. We found ourselves sweating one minute freezing the next. The windows don't open so at times it felt suffocating. The maid staff were very friendly and accommodating. Generally people seem to go out of the way to be friendly. However on the floor we stayed on, they were redoing rooms, and at eight thirty or nine in the morning the workers started yelling in the hallways. The walls between rooms seemed to have enough sound proofing, however the wall at the door allowed for every sound in the hall to enter the room. Breakfast was ok, although the pancake machine didn't work, and the juice machines dispensed mostly water.

If you like to sleep in a sauna, this hotel is for you. You can't open the window more that a half inch. The A/C does not work well and does not go below 65 on the dial but could not get the room below 74 degrees and it was a mid January night on Long Island! The bacon at breakfast looks and tastes like snake skin. There are no trays to being up food to the room if you have a family. The one who maintains the breakfast area does not speak english and forget asking her a question. The front desk staff is very good and gave out menus to order pizza. Avoid Roccos. They lost the order and came with the wrong pizza and then came with an ice cold one.
