Upon my arrival, I was greeted by Michelle, who remembered me from a year ago and was very kind and gracious. She made our night run smoothly.. In the morning, I was helped by Alice, and I found out she had done my phone reservations the day before, and made sure that I had the most beneficial rate for our stay. Believe me, Alice is "precious gold" to the guests, and therefore also to the company. She smoothed out a number of problems, while being charming and patient on every issue. I'm a priority club member, and I do favor this hospitality group. This exact location however, was exceptional, both in physical condition, and in the quality of staff, who make you feel "at home". We'll be back again next year.

I PURPOSELY put my DO NOT DISTURB sign on the door BECAUSE I DON'T want anybody in my room! Someone entered my room & left my airconditioning unit panel box open! I felt VERY VIOLATED!!

We used our Priority Points for this stay. Can this be why we were placed in the room across from the Mechanical Room and the vending machine/ice maker room with their constant, and very loud din? While the room had a Non Smoking sign on it, there was an strong odor to the room that persisted even after you were in the room several minutes. I can not say for sure what that was about but it seemed like an attempt to cover up a previous smell. It sure did a number on my allergies. The new front desk person was as helpful as he could be to correct the booking error of NOT, initially, crediting PP to pay for the room. He eventually, with lots of help, was able to rectify that. I think if you are suppose to be able to call the 1-800 # to book w/ the PP, one should not have a hassle when you check in. We most likely- actually, we most certainly would book elsewhere next time. Smell, noise not a combo I want to experience again. VERY DISAPPOINTED.

Paint falling off bathroom wall, duct tape used to cover hole in wallboard?!?
Very old mattress.
I'll be avoiding this property like the plague in the future.

Alice provides excellent customer service! She is the reason I return to this property. She is friendly, helpful, polite and personable. She makes you feel at home. I was a little disappointed with the breakfast selections and quality of food, but Alice's outstanding service over-shadowed my concerns. Thanks Alice for a job well done.

Upon registering,we didn't get a "warm" reception from the desk clerk, who seemed preoccupied and not able to smile. I'm sure there was a plausible reason for her manner,but it set a tone that is difficult to overcome when first impressions are so important. Things did not improve with the arrival of a large family reunion of families arriving from various states,who had to greet one another and "catch up" on family gossip from their relatives whom they had not seen since the last reunion.......outside our door in the hallway....at 11:00 PM.......Enough said.

Although it looks like location has been refurbished, it's still just average for a Holiday Inn. Furniture/bed not very comfortable. Toilet is very low especially for a tall person or someone with back problems.

Very Good overall experience -- some issues at Check-in -- no one was there to attend the Counter for nearly 10 minutes when I first walked in the Lobby. Online booked rate was not what they showed -- I had to get them to lower the rate they had on their print out to the correct rate. Otherwise, experience was good -- clean, comfortable room & good quality Breakfast the following morning.

Hotel was easy to find off the interstate. Staff was friendly. Room was small but clean and fairly comfortable. The hotel was obviously an older building and could use some renovation, particularly when you go away from the main common areas. The bathroom in the room could use some updating as well, but overall, the hotel was a decent stay for the price.

We stopped off for a quick over night rest on our trip from Florida to NJ. We checked in about 9:30 at night. Michelle checked us in and barely spoke 2 words. I would have appreciated a "hello" or a "have a good night". She checked me and handed me keys. Not the kind of customer service I expect at a Holiday Inn. However, I was pleased that the room was nice and clean. And the free breakfast in the morning was adequate. Work on your customer service, and I would have no problem staying here in the future.

We are priority members and stayed at HIEs for most of our trip.
This was the most disappointing one we have stayed in so far.
The carpet was not clean with visible dirt in the corners. The mattress was old and lumpy ...not providing a great night's sleep.
As my husband was shaving in the morning a roach was crawling next to the mirror.

The customer service here is top shelf. The staff was terrific to deal with and they were always trying make your stay as pleasant as possible.
The rooms were ok, but not the kind you expect at Holiday Inn Express. The place is probably slated for some kind of upcoming retrofit, but the common areas were nice.
Breakfast foods were not as high quality as you'd expect.
Good value for the money.

I recommend the hotel for any traveller.. No complains about it - simple plain Holiday Inn!
Just one critic: the room was too bright at night - I was not able to close the curtains (they were fixed).

First night in a "Non Smoking" lol, this room reeked with old cigarette smoke, it was so bad I almost couldn't sleep. You could tell this used to be a smoking room and they tried to paint and hide the smell with little success. It was a horrible room. 2nd night was better on the second floor but still had some of the smell but not as much. Needs a serious cleaning if they are going to say those are "Non Smoking", I been in smokers houses that had less smell.....

Roanoke Rapids is a great stopping point for this NH snowbird on my way to and from Florida.
The Holiday Inn Express is well maintained and comfortable. My room was very nice and my break fast was ample and satisfying.
There are loads of restaurants at this I-95 exit as well as the next exit north. Easy on and off.
I would stay at this property again.

Staff was courteous, room was clean and comfortable and breakfast was good. Negatives: Room was noisey. It was near the water heater and the pipes were tapping for most of the night. We were across from the ice machine which added to the noise in the morning as people filled their coolers. Next time I'll ask for a room away from there.

I called the hotel direct for a reservation and was transferred to the reservation center. I asked for a King, my profile as a platinum memeber shows non smoking, no mention of a smoking room the the reservation center. When I checked in i got a smoking king, the lady at the desk looked at me like I had a problem, I was down graded to a standard room. I have stayed at this hotel several times over the years, but will only go back if I cannot find a room somewhere else close to this area.

I had stayed at here last week and all I can say is that I felt like I was staying at a cheap hotel/motel. Breakfast is bad to the point they were able to mess up eggs and everyone was eating food that was not cooked there. Even the pancake machine needed to be rest all the time. The room was not clean and they had a bottle of shampoo when I was there and 3 days later it was still there. The rugs had mud all over as some workers were staying in the hotel but it was not cleaned up or was not a very good job. I checked in and had said for 3 nights and they had me checking out the next day, this was fixed up the next morning. I feel that management starts fixing the hotel to run as the others, as the Holiday Inn is a very nice chain with clean and great service but one bad service can hurt the whole chain.

Sanitary issues, house keeping is definately not doing their job. Got a room where bed sheets and pillows were not changed, visible lipstick and saliva stains. Found body hair on the bed sheet and dirtry napkins in the drawer. Washrooms were disgustingly dirty, I do not even know why I bothered to lift up the toilet sit - the image will haunt me for a long time. Tried changing a room, but to no avail, other room was equally horrible.
Brought my concerns to both individuals on duty, during night and morning shifts. Wonder if any actions will be taken. Definately would not recommend to anyone, especially if you just want to find a decent place to sleep after a long day.
AVOID AT ALL COST.

The place was a bit old. Our bathroom ceiling and walls were cracked and falling apart, not to mention the tub was dirty. I wish I did more research before we booked. Not a typical Holiday Inn Express.

All of our needs and requests were met upon our arrival.
Courteous and prompt desk service.
Room clean and comfortable.
Hall and adjoining rooms quiet.
Room had no indication or smell of smoke.
Heater/Air Conditioner could be more quiet, but tolerable.
