Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Friendly/helpful desk staff The young man at the desk was very helpful and answered our questions about the hotel and area. I do no know his name but he went over and beyond in trying to help another person checking in at the same time. This person was being "difficult" about things that were not in his control but he stayed calm, friendly and was able to rectify her situation - whatever the problem was. I also saw him help this person with her questions concerning logging on to the computer in the lobby. While helping her, he did not neglect to help others that were waiting. I do not know his name but he did an outstanding job. September 18, 2014

I have never been ask to check out of a Holiday Inn because the clerk was to busy to answer my questions & address my issues of NO internet. Very poor attitude September 15, 2014

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Perfect one night stay Staff friendly and courteous. Check-in person delayed some in assigning room, which wasn't ready, so I said I'd return couple hours later. They called the cleaning staff and delayed the assignment for some reason. Room clean and friendly. TV could be higher than it is. Place on pedestal on dresser?? Label on thermostat was worn badly- needs to be replaced. HVAC unit may need cleaning or dusting. It was chilly so I turned the heat on but it smelled such that the heat/fire detector in the room went off. So, I turned the unit to fan only and ran it all night. Food is excellent along with the food server. August 18, 2014

The breakfast bar could use a little re-arranging as it seemed 'crowded' for lack of a better word. If I am in the area again though, this hotel will be first choice for me. August 16, 2014

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Not a good experience! Hotel looked clean and nice. But when we tried to get into our room key cards did not work. We noticed that most quests were having this problem. Went to the desk to get help for this problem and they recoded the card for me without asking my name, (we had checked in earlier in the day). When we went to our room some one else'e luggage was on the counter. We went back to the front desk and they said the room was in my name. My guess was that someone went to the wrong room, got their card keys recoded ( since they did not ask for your name to recode your keys). Hotel was sold out so we had no room. After we decided to leave, we just happened to run into the guy that did accidently have our room. We were in 320, he should have been in 330 I believe. But through all the time it took to try to get help, many quest came down to the desk unable to get into their rooms, and never did they ask for their name before they recoded their cards. Front desk kid was nice, but had no idea what to do. We were the ones that actually sorted out the issue. Also many things seemed to be out of order. July 31, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Wi-Fi We had a lot of trouble with the Wi-Fi 3 i-phones, 1 HP computer could not make connection. 1 HP computer was able to connect 1 time but never again. 1 i-pad had intermittent connection The system kept replying something about a proxy server not recognizing something or the other. This was a big deal to us. Other than that it was a pretty good stay. July 29, 2014

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Towel with decaface on it Overall, the hotel seemed clean. The beds were very comfortable. The only bad thing is after my husband had showered and was drying off and noticed the towel had an odor. There was actually brown poop on it. It was disgusting, not to mention he had to totally re-shower. It seems like it may have been a prank because the towel was nicely folded and put on the shelf as if it was new. NOT! We should have complained but there was no one at the front desk when we left. Sure would have been nice to be compensated for it. July 16, 2014

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Stay The hotel itself was perfect. Good price, good breakfast, clean accommodations and friendly service. The location is a bit weird. Adjacent to a truck stop. Otherwise in the middle of a corn field, but this brings its own charm, I guess. I would stay here again. Not too many choices for dining nearby. Some fast food, a good Italian restaurant a few miles down the road. Good for relaxing. Absolutely recommend this location. July 5, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Convenient, quiet and comfortable. I stayed at the Holiday Inn Express while participating in the Bike MS Tour de Farms. The room was comfortable, and as an IHG Rewards member (it's free! you should join!) I had free internet - which I did not use, but friends did and the speed was fine. The free breakfast in the Great Room was excellent and included omelets, hot cinnamon rolls, biscuits and gravy, cold cereal, bread for toast (and a working toaster), yogurt, fresh fruit and good coffee. It was not too far from NIU (the location for the charity ride) - only about 15 minutes drive time. I'll be back June 27, 2014

I stayed a year ago and had a similarly great experience and this year brought an additional 4 rooms of friends and family because of that. We were not disappointed and will be back again next year. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great place to stay We have stayed at this HIE for the past four years on our way to Wisconsin from South Carolina. We have never been disappointed with anything at this HIE. All of the staff have been super. They are so courteous, friendly, and helpful. It is so nice to enter an establishment and have someone greet you with a smiling face. And then in the morning when you are going to breakfast another smiling face and did you have a good night, etc. The rooms have always been clean and beds comfortable. Highly recommend this hotel to anyone needing to stop at Rochelle, IL May 28, 2014

It's near 2 truck stops so that may put some people off. Its disappointing that there is no recognition of Priority members at check in. Also, no one drops off a newspaper at your door or bakes any of those fantastic cookies in the evening anymore. May 26, 2014

As Platium rewards club members, while we were not acknowledged as such at check-in, we were given the free upgrade. The front desk employees did recommend a great place to eat when asked. The bed was comfortable, the pillows were not. The room was great...clean and spacious. The breakfast was good. Although the eggs tasted like they were powdered eggs, not real eggs. There was one patron allowed to be in the breakfast area with barefeet....some type of footwear should be required. May 19, 2014

The staff is always friendly and when it comes to welcome cookies in the evening, they'll even make more if they are all gone when you arrive. The location is great as its just off the highway. Parking is no problem. My only gripe is the front glass doors are dirty. It just doesn't look right when you leave in the morning and the sun is shining thru them. April 22, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Easy Access, Convenient Location As snowbirds headed back north, the Rochelle Holiday Inn Express is located conveniently on our route to Minnesota. Easy to find (not tucked behind some big-box store or miles from the Interstate), this is a hotel we'll use again. The breakfast was so-so as hotel complimentary breakfasts go; there was ample seating and food. Two negatives to the room which I mentioned at checkout — 1) the bathtub stopper did not work correctly, it stayed in the closed position so it had to be pulled out with my fingers to drain the tub during a shower. I trust that this issue will be/or already has been addressed. 2) the facial tissue was more akin to gift wrap tissue, much too scratchy and stiff for me; I got my box of tissues from the car. Is the ~ $0.25 difference in cost that important to the franchisee's bottom line? I certainly hope not. I will be interested to see if this has changed when we stop here again in November. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Best Hotel in the Area! The Holiday Inn Express in Rochelle is HANDS DOWN the best in the area. There are a few closer to our destination but the extra 20-25 minute drive was well worth it. The cleanliness was well above average (I'm kind of a germaphobe) and the staff friendliness and service is the best we've ever experienced. Due to unforeseen circumstances we were delayed HOURS past check in (it was 3am) time. We never felt nervous about losing our room. The staff was EXCELLENT about the whole fiasco! The speed of check in was fantastic. Even the usually sub-par standard hotel breakfasts was fantastic. HIGHLY RECOMMEND THE HOLIDAY INN EXPRESS in Rochelle!! April 2, 2014

Both staff members were great and really made me feel welcome. Later I returned to the lobby and again saw Tiffany going above and beyond to help myself and several other patrons. I really felt this location does well to keep their patrons happy. February 10, 2014
