Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 Not a bad choice, but needs a refurb I have stayed here many times. The hotel works as a place to stay while visiting relatives in the area that live on the lake. The bathroom needs repairs and the beds replacing. Sofabed was not usable. Breakfast was good with excellent variety. The ladies worked hard to keep it stocked. I had very little interaction with any other staff. July 30, 2015

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Comfortable bed, service average Had an experience with ants in the room. Had to contact the front desk to ask them to come and control the problem. John who worked third shift did come and spray the area. He did warn us of the fumes. We had to exit our room after a couple of minutes, because the fumes were very strong. As we were sitting in the area for some time waiting for fumes to clear out we noticed the hotel was in need of some repairs. The furniture was old and stained the carpet no longer looked fresh. The carpet in the room felt wet and the humidity was high in the rooms. The hotel had humidifiers in the hallway to attempt to control it. One of my family members room smelled of old wet moldy clothes, like grandma's back porch. Other than that the staff was great, especially John who worked the third shift, he was everywhere making sure the guest was comfortable. Kudos to him for making the best of our situation. Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Don't stay on the first floor Rooms on the first floor are extremely moist and smell of mildew. Hotel appears to keep those rooms extremely cold in an effort to combat the odor, but it's a losing battle. July 10, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Nice visit The hotel is in a convenient location in Rocky Mount and near Smith Mountain Lake. The rooms are clean and comfortable. So are the common areas. Breakfast service is very good. Front desk was understaffed for check ins. July 6, 2015
