Me and my boyfriend went for 1 night. My Spring Semester finished, my Summer Semester starts next week. We drove west from Washington DC. Blue Ridge Valley Parkway is amazing. They offered us early check-in, but we didn't need it. Arrived at 3pm. Room was spotless. King Size Bed with Jacuzzi for ok price, my boyfriend is prior military. Staff and Customer Service was excellent. We immediately went hiking on the Appalachian Trail, Dragon's Tooth. Staff gave us great driving and parking directions to the trail head. Then, after, at 7pm, we drove up to the Star, a nice little tourist trap at the top of the local mountain. Beautiful drive and nice hiking trails. Exhausted, we got back to room. Jacuzzi in room with a bottle of red wine. Watched tv from the tub. Great bed mattress, great sleep. 6:30am breakfast was fantastic! Pancake machine, egg and cheese omelet, sausage, biscuits, OJ, cranberry juice, apple juice, 5 different coffees and creamers, salsa, bread and toast and jelly, apples, oranges, bananas, cereals, milks, yogurts, oatmeal. We went to the 11am Salem Red Sox game, so we checked-out then. They didn't rush us, it was obvious they would let us move at our own speed.
Negatives - 1 - No glasswear in the hotel. No wine glasses, no rocks glasses. Everything plastic. 2- No bubble bath in room. You have to bring your own. (luckily my boyfriend is awesome and did) 3 - No Indoor Pool. And, Outdoor Pool isn't open until May, which was not mentioned on website. We brought swim suits expecting the pool.
Positives - Customer Service. The people were superb. Directions, addresses, help with free internet for our equipment. Breakfast!
Go Red Sox !

Our son was interested in visiting the Roanoke College. We utilized MapQuest to obtain directions and hotels within the area. We researched the reviews of the hotels in the area and selected Holiday Express in Salem.
