The hotel is located within walking distance to the Mexican Market Square and the famed Riverwalk. One can take a trolley ($1.20) to Alamo. However, just outside the hotel on the main street, there are too many empty stores and offices. So the street scene is pretty sad and uninviting. Be careful when you enter or leave the premises as there are steep steps you have to overcome. One member of our party felt. Fortunately she was not hurt. Breakfast is fine, but don't expect anything that is not precooked. The room is comfortable and quiet. I would say the hotel offers good value. Parking costs $10. per day.

The rooms are well furnished and very quiet. Staff was very friendly.

In walking distance to downtown ...... Riverwalk, Alamo etc.

We were all pleasantly surprised when we walked in the room and say the size. The walkway between the foot of the beds and the dresser/television/closet was double what most rooms offer. Four adult women stayed for five nights and we never felt crowded even when we we all getting ready at the same time.

# rooms for 4 nights and our only concern was the poor qualty equipment in the exercise area.
Staff was WONDERFUL, every one of them that we met. They were so accomodating and responsive.

The idea that this was the old San Antonio jail makes this a fun concept but it was loud in the room. I could hear everyone going up and down the stairs and "slamming" the doors. Also no matter how you slice it you have to be able to walk up steps, no ramp anywhere. Parking was ok. And the riverwalk is about 4 blocks down. The bed seemed old and you could feel the springs. All-in-all I would not stay at this property again, I'll go back to the Staybridge next to the train station on the other side of the riverwalk.

I booked 4 rooms for a trade show for myself and my customers. The rooms were great. My customers loved the fact that it was an old jail. Was in walking distance to everything. Close enough that after a fun night that walking back was no problem.
Staff was very friendly and helped me locate all the places that we were meeting other folks each night.
One of my favorite Holiday Inn's experiences ever.

This hotel is only two blocks from Riverwalk and close enough to o0ther downtown sights that it made for easy walking. The rooms are well furnished and very quiet. Staff was very friendly.
Parking is right accross the street, but at $15.00 a night? This was waived by becoming a frequent hotel member, but don't know if this is normal. A very good two night stay was had and we would return again.

The front desk was absolutely wonderful! Location was within walking distance to The Market and to the Riverwalk. (closer to the Market) Room was comfortable and clean. We would def stay there again.

My husband and I just returned from our Spring getaway to San Antonio. I am so glad we chose this Holiday Inn Express. The room was very comfortable and clean. The refrigerator and microwave in the room was very convenient. We got a kick out of the bars on the outside of the windows (this is an historical place) and we enjoyed reading about the history of the building.
Although I liked the fitness room, I only used it once during our stay because we pretty much walked everywhere in the city. The location of the hotel was perfect (close enough to downtown and the river walk, the Alamo, etc. but also close to the highway so we could easily get out of the city to visit family and go to the wineries!)
Above all, the staff made our visit very comfortable. They were attentive, helpful and friendly. We especially want to thank Rolando. He took care of our cab when we left and even packed us a goodie bag for the trip home. That is the kind of above and beyond treatment that will bring us back to the hotel the next time we visit San Antonio!

Need to hire some help to clean and replace the shampoo and soap bottles cause they left the old shampoo and soap bottles and just filled it with water not going back. They left hair on the floor and on the walls in the shower and when I asked to clean my room they said they couldn't cause they didn't anybody.

The staff acted as if they were genuinely glad to have us a guests and went out of their way to help us get around San Antonio and to be helpful in any other way they could.
Staying in a remodeled jail was a hoot.

CHECK IN EXPERIENCE WAS NOT EASY, NOT KNOWING WHERE TO PARK IN AN UNFAMILIAR PLACE AT NIGHT. WI FI WAS OUT MOST OF STAY BUT STAFF WAS ACCOMODATING AND COURTEOUS.

This Holiday Inn Express was once a jail. They had the trials and hangings there! The rooms were much improved since it was a jail. The front desk people, Will & Daniel, were very pleasant and tried in every way to accomodate us. I can't say enough about how wonderful all employees were and we plan on visiting again soon and staying here exclusively while in beautiful San Antonio.

we enjoyed our stay at the Holiday Inn Express--river walk area. The hotel acommodations were very nice and--the staff was great. They were all very friendly and helpfu!l. The location made it easy to walk to the alamo, river walk and the market area.

The staff was very pleasant & accommodating. Our room was very clean & comfortable. The breakfast was good. I would definitely recommend this hotel. It also was within walking distance of the Riverwalk & Market Place.

We stayed here on Valentines eve...we were overcharged and the manager pretty much said, if you don't like it, go elsewhere. I had prebooked for a lower price and they said my card was declined. They certainly could have notified me of that situation.. I have been a priority club member for years, and they had all my contact information. I had booked two rooms and my daughters room was the size of a postage stamp. The bed was comfortable but the bathroom was dirty. This hotel ruined our evening and never again will we stay here.
I have never been so poorly treated by a stay at any Holiday Inn as we were here.

The rooms were clean and nice. I loved the clean bathroom. The staff was warm and friendly and breakfast was made early and was pretty good. The only drawback was the parking. I had no idea there wasn't parking on the hotel grounds and you had to pay to park across the street but overall experience was good.

Located on a quiet side street, the room we stayed in on the 3rd floor was comfortable and quiet.The lady that prepared breakfast was cheerful and accomodating, starting our day off right. This hotel is not fancy but it is clean and comfortable. We stayed 2 nights and would return.

Location was great. Walking distance for many sites. Old jail building was neat. Dust on edges of all furniture and edges of carpet had layers of dust. My sinuses kicked in as soon as I walked in room. Could wipe finger and come up with gobs of dust. Too bad for such an excellent hotel. Registration Staff was very nice and accommodating. Maybe because room not used for long time-time of season and economy!!!! Staff found us another chair so that both of us could have something to sit on since we were there for three days. Plenty of room for another chair. Do not want anything to compensation for comments-Just want to help staff provide what I have come to expect from Holiday Inn Express

The only problem I had with this hotel is with the matresses. They were very uncomfortable you could actually feel the springs in your back. My husband and I both woke up sore the next morning. The breakfast was great the staff was friendly and it was a good price. However I will probably not stay on my next visit because of the bed not being comfortable.

Our flight arrived after midnight. I requested to both Eric and Will that we could have a quiet area on an upper floor. Thank you for honoring my request. The only noise that bothered me was a "ticking" refrigerator. We unplugged it each night, and that solved the problem.
