The design is so old and non intuitive. For example, there is only one elevator for the whole long length of the property. After a long walk to the office area, one has to go around the outside of the property to reach the office.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by KPSSD Very noisy converted motel
First off, the staff are very kind, courteous, and accommodating.
There always seemed to be someone from Housekeeping mopping and cleaning.
My first choice of hotel is HIE.
That said. This is essentially a converted motel. It was booked for me through my company. Reading the site description, it is presented as an "open corridor hotel".
The lobby is a study in the use of space. If you lean back in your breakfast chair you could probably reach the reception counter.
The property is just off a 6 lane hwy. Based on the sound of motorcycles that went by I'm guessing the red light is 1/4 mile away. The motors seemed to reach the loudest point just as they pass the hotel. And of course the heavy trucks.
I noticed this before I entered my room so I went back to the desk and asked for something farther from the street. The only room avail. was on the first floor. That would have been directly across from the head in parking stalls. I kept my first room assignment.
Much to my surprise..there was already 2 pkgs. of earplugs on the night stand. No doubt , the hotel is aware of the noise issue. Some better windows and doors would help but ,I think the earplugs are much more cost effective.
Also, this location is along the approach flight line for the airport.
I have included pics to show the proximity to the hwy and the space around the door.
I will stay at HIE again. just not this one.
