The main problems we encountered were: (1) shower did not work, (2) the water plug in the bath room sink did not work, (3) the breakfast yogurt was outdated and non-consumable. We did not find these problems until the next morning. Most likely, these problems would have been fixed had the staff been notified prior to finding the problems. November 30, 2013

Hello, My girlfriend and I stayed at the Holiday Inn Express in San Luis Obispo over the weekend (Sat. thru Mon. morning) and it was a very nice room and suprisingly good breakfast. The staff was very nice and accomodating with my request for a earlier check-in. Unfortunately our room was never cleaned on Sunday. We checked in on Saturday and the room was great! We left Sunday morning around 9:30am to go to the wedding we were in and when we came home later that night the room had not been turned over. We had no fresh towels (I had left all of the dirty towels on the floor) and the bed had not been made. I made sure to clear everything off of the bed before we left that morning so that it would be made when we came back. I had to call the front desk to request towels to take a shower after a long day of being in a wedding. I know that this may seem minor but it was disappointing to come back to this after a long day. The front desk representative was very nice and got us some towels with in 5 minutes and I appreciate that. Please look in to this issue and have it addressed because thats one of the great luxuries of a hotel room, getting to come home and not have to worry about anything. Thank you November 15, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great customer experience Spent one night at this hotel for our baby-moon. The staff was extremely accommodating, upgrading us to a suite for the special occasion. It was nice having a larger space for my 16-month old son to roam around. Continental breakfast had many options. It was definitely helpful not having to go out and spend time/money looking for food. Exceeded our expectation for our first stay at a Holiday Inn Express. Looking forward to future stays... November 15, 2013

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great value/location - Need a bit more attention to detail 'Always a great value. Breakfast is always great - Something for everybody and the cinnamon rolls are incredible! They even have an automatic pancake maker that isn't too bad! Room was the usual room but there was a huge gap atop the door and we heard all the noises in the hallway. Electrical socket was pulled away from the wall and the toilet was coming off the seal and would move from side to side a bit when you sat on it (Sorry for the visual). The cabinets at the outer sink vanity and inside the bathroom were sealed shut and very dated. We told the front desk person about the issues and she apologized and said they would look into them straight away. Note - When you check in - Don't accept a room near the laundry room as the noise from the dryer will drive you bonkers. 'Didn't get to use the pool or jacuzzi but they looked inviting. On a very positive note is the location to Cal Poly as it is just down the street on Grand - literally two minutes away! 'Great for visitng parents/guests. October 24, 2013

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by bath I was very glad to see a tub..BUT to use it was another faucet.So I had to lay the hand held shower head in the water is long coming...and it too a long time for tub to fill.Being there for a dance event performing, teaching, a bath tub is a must! It was also hard to plug in a make up mirror...only 2 prong recitcle was not by any thing, so I had to put my mirror on an upside down trash can, and sit on the floor, to get ready for the evening show.We were at VETS hall ...I will stay again, but hope to have a proper working bath! Our room was quiet, clean, and had comfortable beds. Liked the buffet breakfast in the morning, and the exercise room. For sure we will stay there again... October 22, 2013

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Honest Staff Have stayed at this hotel severla times for visiting our daughter that goes to Cal Poly SLO. Hotel is always pretty clean as are the rooms. Rooms are a little dated, especially the bath rooms but all in all a nice place. Location is great, super close to campus. Also, nice to have the free breakfast for mornings that we have early plans. Anyway, once home from this trip, several hours later I realized that I left my iPad behind in my hotel room! Ughhhh. I feared the worst as I called late that evening after we got home. Housekeeping was not available because it was so late and the front desk clerk told me that if housekeeping found it in the room it would be locked up in house keeping and to call back in the morning. I was sick and pretty sure I wouldnt see my iPad again. Anyway, I called back first thing in the morning and thay had my iPad!!! I am so thankful for the honest staff! I will always try & make my reservations here first! October 11, 2013

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent Staff Moving my daughter to Cal Poly. I booked a king room. Room, bathroom common areas as one would expect. Very clean, well furnished, nice linens etc. The staff is what stood out. The most friendly, accommodating and well trained I have come across over the past several years. Most places just check you in, the staff here goes above and beyond to make sure you are happy. I applaud the management for their dedication to customer service. September 25, 2013
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Not a very nice property I am a Platinum Elite member at Holiday Inn and I stay in many of their properties. This location looks great from the street, and the lobby is very nice, but the rooms are old and antiquated. There is a musty odor in the hallways and the rooms do not smell very fresh. We had to change rooms upon checking is as the room we were assigned had a strong odor of raw sewage coming from the bathroom. I am a big fan of Holiday Inn Express. Most of their properties are very clean with modern furnishings. This hotel did not measure up the standards set by other Holiday Inn Express properties. September 23, 2013

Had asked about a different room,hotel was full.Was told they would give 25,000 points back on my account,never did . Said I wanted to cancel 2 night, told me that could upgrade in to suite on next night.The suite was nice but still had to move,which we did not want to do. Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Room needed serious attention Very cheerful staff and good breakfast, but our room had multiple plumbing and electrical problems and should never have been rented at any price, let alone over $200. The toilet would not flush properly and the sink faucet gushed water onto the counter, ruining some of our products. The TV was dead, as all but one outlet available for phone chargers. We checked in early evening, dropped off our bags, but didn't notice the problems until after we went out to our event (reason for being in town), returning at 2AM. We had 4 adults and needed two beds. The staff offered to move us but no double beds were available, and wanted to charge us for a second room. There was no maintenance staff at 2AM and it was suggested it was solely our fault for not testing the toilet, faucet, and all the outlets. Isn't that what hotel staff are for? Will never book Holiday Inn again based on this experience September 11, 2013
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Shame on you HIE You should be ashamed at the prices you charged for the condition and age of the rooms at this hotel. We were glad to see a new hotel in SLO, especially HIE, but all that was fixed was the outside to make it look new. The room had a smell to it, the mattresses in the room needed to be replaced and the bathroom was awful. The toilet was so low you needed a ladder to get back up. They had screwed all the bathroom cabinet doors and drawers shut, they didn't even make them look presentable and then painted them. I expect this out of some other hotels but not HIE. If you are going to take over an old hotel, refurbish it don't just cover up. Your new image is going downhill quickly for us! This is not the first time this has happened, the HIE in the Denver Tech Center-Englewood on South Clinton Street was even worse. In the future I will be calling the HIE directly to find out if it is really a new hotel or a makeover gone bad. I tried to attach photos but your upload images would not let me do so. The hotel was clean and comfortable with a pool taboot, and, more than anything, the staff was super nice. I definitely recommend staying here if you're visiting the SLO area anytime soon! Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Good quality Holiday Inn Express I stayed in 7 Holiday Inns or Express's during a 3 week road trip and this was one of the best. Close enough to downtown SLO to walk in or get the cheap Tram. Far enough away from downtown to be quiet and enable a good nights sleep. Not the case with many other of the hotels! Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Trip Disappointing room for a Holiday Inn Express, I expected much more. Room was smelly and bathroom walls and cabinets were painted a thick white. Nice granite on ugly old cabinets, cheap. While checking in desk person answered the phone and instead of asking that person to wait we were put on hold while standing right in front of the desk, not good. August 13, 2013
