Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Mixed Experience Sanford HIE is a pet friendly hotel. Didn't know this when I made reservations or I probably would have looked elsewhere. After my wife posted a review on Trip Advisor, addressing an animal smell in the first room we were assigned, the hotel manager posted a very good and appreciative response. It appears that you can request a "pet free" room. This is important to know for guests and should be conspicuous. The good news is the front desk staff put us in another room that lacked an animal odor. The room was clean and the bathroom well appointed for this class of hotel. There was an annoying buzz from the in-room refrigerator. We unplugged it to fix that. The towels are particularly notable; as good or better then many luxury hotels. Breakfast was pretty poor. Pancake machine didn't work, eggs were cold, hot sweet rolls took forever to warm and orange juice was watery. The coffee was very average. I've stayed in other HIE's where the breakfast was excellent. The TV in our room failed to work on the morning of our checkout. Despite all of the criticism, we would give this property another chance because of the promised attention by the manager in his Trip Advisor response. May 17, 2013

It was quiet (no amount of noise suppression efforts can keep out the late night and early morning slamming of door locks. There was a problem with the shower either overflowing or leaking onto the bathroom floor, but we loved the tub shower anyway. Just that we had to use 2 of our towels to mop up the water. There was a misunderstanding as to completion of house cleaning efforts, but was promptly addressed by the GM much to our satisfaction. Great breakfast as usual, but the standard sweet rolls didn't seem as fresh as usual. Overall, we loved our stay and would visit that unit again if we are ever in the area. May 7, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Comfortable bed, and manager food at night for the guest. The bed was very comfortable and the breakfast was very good. On Monday night we had a small buffet of food for the guests in the breakfast room. It was very tasty and a good variety. Holiday Inn is our first choice when we travel and we do travel alot. I have been to several when the manager has like a happy hour appertizers and that means alot to the guests after working all day and coming home to prepared food. This hotel is great and we will be back again when we have to work in this area. May 4, 2013

The Management is constantly improving the facility and staff are extremely attentive. It is also a great dog friendly hotel. April 29, 2013
