We called the front desk three times around midnight about teenagers banging doors and wrestling in the hallway and asked for quiet. No correction. I had to go out and threaten to call Police since the front desk wouldn't intervene. The teenagers then quieted down and we went off to sleep,

We were in Santa Cruz for a dance performance at UC Santa Cruz. Had a very nice stay at Holiday Inn. Found the room to be clean, quiet and comfortable...all of the things we look for in a room!

I have been with holiday inn for years, When I checked in I used my AAA card The first night was one price the other nights where differant.
I also have not had any knowledge of an early check out charg. Most of the time I book for the week. check out on Fri.. My job at times sends me else where. More Money for early check out.
Just because this is a turest point the staff most of the time never see the guest again. I have returned here a number of times. With that said I plan to return here but the poperty may want to look into there policy. I won't return here should I need to relocate because of my work. it happens. 48 hour cancelation policy also in not in my world. so I walk in and check in..
FYI I spend 4 nights a week in some property. Points make up my mind.

We found the Holiday Inn Express in Santa Cruz to be a great place to stay. Welcoming staff, comfortable bed and bedding, room was spacious and the variety of the breakfast was outstanding plus delicious. It was a very nice place to rest after a long day's flight from Indiana!

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by CRoy My stay: three nights in November, 2012
I came to Santa Cruz to visit my granddaughter who is in her first year at UCSC. As I was traveling alone, it was wonderful to feel safe as well as very comfortable. It was great to come back to my room each day and find it made up to perfection. I want to add that the most important aspect of my stay was my interaction with the friendly and helpful staff at the front desk. In particular, Zach and Andrew were very professional in their responding to my many questions (directions around Santa Cruz) yet at the same time both had a sense of humor which made them exceptional hosts at the Holliday Inn Express Santa Cruz, California. Thank you!!

It's Santa Cruz, right?
Location is great if you are passing through as you are right at the intersection of Highway 17 (Ocean St) and Highway 1 (Pacific Coast Hwy). Makes for an easy in and out without getting caught up in the Santa Cruz scene or boardwalk.
The hotel entrance is non-standard compared to more contemporary HI Express locations. There is no "drive through" check in area. The approach and exit ramps to the facility are a bit steep. Parking is under the hotel in a garage (again different for an Express location). I have a small car and almost pulled up into the patio area before I realized that wasn't the standard Express entrance with circle drive (long day on the road for me).
There was a line at check in and only one desk clerk so it took a while. Meanwhile somebody came in and requested I move my car as it was in the way of something. No problem but then back to the line afterwards. I have to say the staff was nice once I had my turn but it's definitely mañana-ville. When you check in you have to sign a "no partying" contract agreeing to a fine of between $200 and $1000 for partying in your room. Fine. I'm sure their proximity to UCSC has a lot to do with this and can't say I blame them. However it did give me the feeling there may be some noise issues when trying to sleep. My concerns were unfounded.
The wired and wireless internet worked fine for me.
The Santa Cruz Diner is about a two-block walk and is a local attraction with typical mom and pop fare and seems very popular. Any other food or shopping will probably require a car ride.
In all it was a pleasant experience and put me right on Highway 17 toot sweet on my trip to the Bay Area the next morning.
See ya Santa Cruz. Maybe next time I can call you a destination instead of a stopover.

I spend about half my time on the road and I've never dealt with anything like this before. I checked out because my air conditioning didn't work. They continued to charge me and then said it was because I left a T-shirt in the room. I did finally get them to drop the charges, but only after hours of arguing.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by scmom20 Parking accomadtions
We came back to the hotel late on Sat Oct 20th. Tried to park in lower level & 4 vehicles had parked on the lines taking up 2 spaces. We were forced to park in the handicap stall, since neighborhood parking is not safe. A walk-thru by staff should be conducted & patrons should be made to move their cars or pay an extra fee (similiar to the no-party fee.)

All the staff are pleasant, genuine and very well trained. The breakfast staff work very hard, and keep a busy dining area clean & well stocked. The parking garage was a plus. The local events were posted in the elevator. Tea & coffee service available at any time.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by sharksfan Nice stay, and was clean
Our stay was comfortable and clean in comparison to other places in the area. The braekfast was perfect for our 3 kids, and the pool and spa were a nice get away. The pool felt crampted, but was still enjoyable. Its located just as you come into town, so all the attractions are a drive away. The best breakfast I have ever had was at Zachary's which is located down town.
