I stay at ihg brand hotel from 50-75 nights a year and have good understanding of how the hotel chain works and what quality to expect. It is nicely renovated, is situated in a good place and the staff (day and evening) is very pleasant/helpful. The rooms are not the largest but overall offer a good bang for the buck. For personal use, i would recommend this hotel.
For business use however, i would not due to the inability to work remotely; specifically regarding the stability of their wireless network. I was changed room 3 times and was put on the third and first floor but was unfortunately unable to find a reliable connection (2 laptops and my phone were tested). During the day, it was fine. After 7 pm however, it became intermittent and then unusable as of 9;30 pm. The staff really did their best to help me out, including offering to let me use the breakfast area's wired connection and i really appreciated their attempts.
I ended up missing both my meetings (workng with a 12 hour time difference) and so was ultimately unsatisfied with my stay. I left messages with reception on Friday the 24th of Oct asking for a callback from the manager or assistant manager but have not received a call as of yet (4 days and counting).
Seriously though, it is blank great hotel with great staff, just avoid it if you require a stable/usable Internet connection for work.

I visited the hotel a year ago and it had undergone renovations within the two prior years. There was a notice in the elevator aplogizing that it had not been renovated but would be soon. This year the same notice was still in the elevator. This is a nice typical HI Express property marred by a tacky looking elevator and a perennial apology that it will be fixed soon.

for a new property of HI not bad. Lobby tastefully done, elevators need to be upgraded. Slow and dirty.
Cleaning staff could pay a little more attention to detail.
Overall our stay in Sault Set. Marie was good.
I would recommend this hotel.
