Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Cross Country Trip Value My daughter and I drove from Maryland to Seattle in 4 days. The weather was beautiful, the roadwork was at a minimum, and the traffic was bearable. But what really made our trip a pleasure were 2 of the 3 hotels we enjoyed during our trip. We stayed in a HIE in Schaumberg, IL and Mitchell, SD. Both were wonderful stops with a great value and a comfortable stay. We TRIED to stay in a HIE in Bozeman, MT, but there was no room at the inn, even though I tried booking our stay at least 3 weeks prior to arrival. I know, summer is busy and I need to plan ahead. Our stay at a competitor's hotel in Bozeman was less than satisfactory. HIE has it figured out. They offer a great room-service-amenities package, and they do the little things to make you feel welcome. I travel frequently between Seattle and Tucson, AZ--- and I always stay at HIE. My real favorite is in Beaumont, CA. But each hotel does a equally fine job. My compliments. July 29, 2013

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Comfortable Bed and Great Service Pros: 1. Tom and Elizabeth man the front desk. They both always have a smile, are always approachable, and never say no to a request. 2. The beds are very comfortable. 3. Rooms are clean and not cramped. 4 I always feel welcome at check-in and throughout my stay. Cons: None of these are deal breakers, however, if implemented would improve the stay. 1. Pillows are a bit lumpy. Would be nice to have feather pillows. 2. Oatmeal, not the packaged kind, would be a nice breakfast choice. 3. Some of the AC units are noisy. I bring a pair of earplugs in case that happens in my room. June 19, 2013
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Noisy Neighbours The hotel was well situated, the Sports bar next door was good for a beer and a burger, unfortunately our stay was spoiled by very noisy Guests on our floor, threats from the Mamagement to throw them out seemed to have no effect and led to a night with very little sleep. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by great front desk Probably a typical HIE physical property but the staff really went out if its way to make me feel welcome. Good breakfast and great evening managers reception - OK it was pizza and beer but it really hit the spot and is usually not offered by most hotels in this price category. The hotel is slightly off the beaten path but definitely tries harder. One suggestion for improvement might be a self service laundry area. June 10, 2013

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Staff was Stellar! We did not use a lot of the services as we had plans outside of the hotel. We were welcomed so warmly by the staff (two men) and the checking was smooth, even a small glitch on one computer didn't slow these two. Each time we went in or out of the hotel we were greeted with eye contact and a friendly smile! this was a comfortable place to stay and I will stay here again. June 5, 2013

They also had a free cocktail buffet reception in the lobby. Room was clean and comfortable bed. Would stay here again. May 30, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by So friendly, great customer service I stayed at this hotel with my husband for our anniversary. We had reservations for the Medieval Times show down the street. The front desk was extraordinary with their customer service. They were very friendly and actually had several conversations with me. I never have been to any place that was that way. They REALLY paid attention to mine and my husbands needs. I would recommend this hotel to everyone. When I go to Chicago in the future, I will stay again even if my business is in the city. Room clean comfortable except housekeeping turned up heat whenever they worked causing the room to be quite warm upon our return each day. Platinum upgrades are limited and an upgrade is just a slightly larger king room. Breakfast was very good and well kept despite large numbers. Will have to call priority club in regards to points discrepancy. Not the hotel's fault. May 18, 2013

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by expectations were not met I travel for work, I stay only at IHG hotels and I am a platinum priority club member. most of the hotels offer a free upgrade without request. this time I was not given an upgrade, and when I made the suggestion, I was told that there were none available. the hotel was far from sold out, so I tend to believe I was not told the truth. with many hotels in the Chicago area, I will go to those that are more accommodating to my needs. The first night we had to ask for more and they were delivered to our room while we were eating dinner. But the next day when the maid serviced the room, once again she only left 3 sets of towels!! We never did receive the fourth set because it was late in the evening and no one had access to the linens. March 22, 2013

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Heat woulld not turn off...must have been at least90 degrees...awful experience The heat could nopt be turned off or lowered. Even if cold air was turned on...it would turn to full blown hot air. Absolutley miserable experience. I only stay in Holiday Inn Express when traveling...and have always been very happy. That heat issue must have been known...when i walked into the room it was just incredibly hot. i turned heat down and left for the basketball tourney...returning to find it just as hot. I lowered the heat, and woke to incredible heat again...then put on air conditioning...which worked a while..went to sleep...waking again to incredible heat. Never experienced such a thing. Should have told front desk...but had to rush out to pick up my daughter March 13, 2013

I did not understand why having enough towels for each person registered in the room was such a problem. We had 4 persons in our room and only 3 towels, with the housekeeper right outside our door. I asked her for an extra set of towels and was told the policy was I had to go down to the front desk and ask??? Once we had the extra set of towels, why when our room was cleaned, were 4 sets taken and only 3 replaced? March 9, 2013

I had to spend 30 minutes each morning driving to other restaurants just to get fair breakfast. Otherwise hotel is excellent. Shuttle service is very good and accommodating. February 21, 2013

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Quiet retreat I have stayed at the Schaumburg Holiday Inn Express severall times in the past few years to visit a close friend. The quality of the hotel is excellent is virtually every respect. The only problem I had on this visit was with accessing Internet via wireless. It was a problem for the whole hotel and they were attempting to address it. It was not critical to my visit so I do not consider it a major issue. Love how quiet my room was! January 22, 2013

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Friendly Staff My most recent stay in Schaumburg was quite a trip. I usually travel without incident and stay 2-4 days at the Holiday Inn Express. The staff is always welcoming me with a smile and very polite. They even remember me even though I only travel 3 or 4 times a year. This last trip I was forced to stay an extra night after my flight had been canceled due to weather. I had already checked out of the hotel and was in a business meeting when I received notification that my flight had been canceled. I immediately called the front desk and asked if they had any extra rooms and were very grateful to accommodate me. The hotel shuttle was made available to pick me up and even drop me off at the local mall even though the weather wasn't the ideal. I really enjoy staying at this hotel and feel that if it weren't for the staff I wouldn't mind staying somewhere else. The rooms are great, beds are comfortable, and the happy hour/breakfast are always good. January 2, 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by An uncomfortable bed The Hotel seems to have been recently remodeled but still has an old musty smell to it. The Common Areas are kept with the staff being mostly friendly. Due to business travel I stay 200+ nights a year in a hotel and the bed that we had was the worst I've experienced in recent memory. December 19, 2012
