They're very personable and make me feel welcome. The guest rooms are very nice and always comfortable. The breakfast is always hot and fresh. I can't wait to stay here again. :) August 20, 2014

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Great service; updating underway The staff is top notch and the upgrading is doing well. There were only two issues that down-graded the property for us. First, the older A/C unit needs replacing NOW! It is very noisy and makes erratic sounds, spoiling my good night's slumber. Second, the new sink upgrade has such a small water flow as to be annoying. Please, enough water to rinse my toothbrush. Convenient, well run, great staff, and on the way to better days! August 8, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Clean, cool and comfortable rooms Hotel was a couple of blocks off busy streets so was quiet. Rooms were very conducive to rest and sleep. I have to compliment the hotel on the beds: linens were very soft and comfortable and the mattress was very comfortable as were pillows. The pillows seem to have a range of soft to more firm so I liked that. Location was close to the places we wanted to visit as well as being fairly close to the freeways so we had access to travel down to Tempe. The complimentary breakfast was very nice and had more choices of hot food. This was a bonus. Thank you for a most enjoyable stay. August 7, 2014

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by AWESOME 5 NIGHT STAY My mother had to have surgery at the Shea Campus of Scottsdale Medical Center. We booked under the hospital rate, AWESOME rate. We have stayed at others closer to the campus, but they were always lacking something. We stayed at this Holiday Inn Express Tuesday through Sunday. Usually after that many days you are over a hotel stay, but this place was EXCELLENT. The bed was comfortable, and we noticed they were putting NEW beds in all the rooms, yet we were happy with our old one that hadn't been changed out, so I can just imagine how comfortable the new ones will be for next stay! We really liked the option for firm or soft pillows. (2 of each in room) The customer service was awesome, check in was a breeze. We also had to keep changing our check out date because of changes in my mother's recovery and having to stay close to the hospital. Housekeeping daily was great, everyday there was a hand written note saying thank you for the tip. I needed a spoon in the middle of the night, and the front desk had one. The shuttle driver was friendly, the lady working the breakfast was good. They provide coin operated laundry, free breakfast, free WiFi, free local shuttle and a full line up of channels on the TV. Papa John's Pizza delivers to your door, and there is a full menu of restaurant style food in the room. Within a mile there is a Safeway, CVS, Circle K, Arbys, McDonalds, and many more things. We will for sure be staying here in the future! August 3, 2014
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 Not a great choice We choose to stay at this hotel because of its proximity to golf courses and shopping. When I walked to the front desk to check in, the woman on duty rolled her eyes and me and quickly checked me in. When I walked outside to unload my luggage from the car, I noticed that same woman sitting on the front walkway smoking a cigarette. Clearly she was irritated with me when I was checking in because I was holding her up from taking her smoke break. Once I pushed my daughter's stroller through the smoke, when headed to our room. The hotel room itself was nice except that the air conditioner was so loud that it was hard to listen to the TV or talk to each other. The shower faucet was not connected to the wall and wiggled while in use. It was very uncomfortable. The breakfast was terrible. The eggs tasted very foul. The meat choices were tasteless. I am not sure that I that I would choose to stay at this hotel again because of all of these reasons. As Gold Priority Club members, we have stayed at HIE properties all across the countries. This hotel was down on the list of great experiences. July 23, 2014

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Wonderful Stay! This hotel is absolutely wonderful. The staff is very friendly and works hard to honor requests. I've stayed at this hotel for work a few times and will continue to do so. It's nice after a long day of work to come here to a relaxing space that's comfortable, clean, and well stocked. I'll happily recommend this hotel to anyone. I also recommend getting a pool side room. Doing that will get you a 'back' door that looks out in to the pool area. Open that door and step outside to a little sitting area right by your room. It's a nice way to relax. June 25, 2014

We had a reservation in Tucson that were not supposed to be cancelled but we had to be in Phoenix for a meeting at 6:00am. Karen from the Tucson Holiday Inn waived the room charges and we made new reservations in Phoenix. I appreciate Karen bending the rules and hope she didn't get into any trouble. If she hadn't been able to change the reservation we would have had to leave before 4:00am. Thanks to Karen and a very comfortable stay at the Holiday Inn. June 5, 2014

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by nice warm pool and grassy courtyard area We stayed two nights and had a very comfortable stay. We would stay there again. The beds were comfy and the noise level of the hotel was low even though it was Bike Week. We really enjoyed having a poolside room since we had the kids with us. We could open up the exterior door to the grassy courtyard area and let them play without worry since the pool was gated. The breakfast had a wide variety of items to choose from and plenty of seating space. There was a broken tub plug, so the kids couldn't take a bath and this was reported to the management. It was nice to have free WiFi in the room too. April 9, 2014

For two days it seemed to have disappeared, and I imagined it had gotten lost in the laundry. But on the third day after leaving I got a call that the cord had been found. Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Average HIE, however BIG smoking problems This HIE is in a reasonable location however in my view it has some serious problems. If you are a NON SMOKER you would be advised to stay away from this hotel. Even though this HIE s supposedly a non smoking hotel. It is also a noisy hotel if you are facing the inner courtyard. The hotel's design is that half the rooms face an inner courtyard where there is a pool & tables and chairs. The rooms facing the courtyard on the ground floor also have a small area where you can sit outside. The problem is that at night people congregate in the courtyard and chat/smoke and as the rooms have the budget model, hole in the wall A/C's. You then can hear every word of their conversation and cigarette/cigar smoke comes in through the A/C. If you complain about smoking, then you receive a nice little lecture on how it’s perfectly acceptable for people to smoke next to your room, HOWEVER as long as it’s not INSIDE their Room! Apparently the hotel management have not worked out the contradiction of Advertising that this is a no smoking hotel & making you sign a NO SMOKING clause on hotel checkin, however it's ok for people to smoke 6ft from your room and chat loudly late into the night! Go Figure! I would heartily NOT RECOMMEND this hotel. March 2, 2014

We are always greeted with a hello and welcome back and when we leave it's always concern for how our stay was and a wish for us to travel safely home. Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Fine with Exceptions Room and accoutrements were fine for the price, and complimentary breakfast was reasonable. More fresh fruit would be nice (green bananas dont quite make it). Location is good. Laundry facilities were out of order for the 5 days we were there (they should have had a repair person out in that amount of time...referring guests to the sister hotel across the parking lot is a poor alternative). Primary issue is that the rear entrance door is open 24-hours (guest access only via room keycard). The guests entering late in the evening using the rear access resulted in door slamming in the stairwells, w/ loud talking, etc...our room vibrated when the door slammed closed, as well as we heard every foot landing on every step. Rooms adjacent to the rear stairwell should be avoided at all cost. As a solution, the management should consider allowing after-hours access only via the front lobby which would minimize noise and nuisance associated with the back entry...and maybe some signage located within the stairwell to "be respectful of other guests". Provide something for people with food allergies. My granddaughter has an allergy go milk products. It was hard to find something she could safely eat. February 1, 2014
