Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good location in downtown During my recent business trip stayed at the hotel. They are within walking distance to Seattle's Space Needle. There is on-site parking with parking charges of $15/day. Breakfast was good that included my favorite Chobani yogurt. The hotel furniture and amenities look old but in good shape. Good place for business or vacation travelers. The rate paid was very high may be due to location or many people coming to town for vacation in summer. July 20, 2014

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great location to visit Seattle prior to cruise This was the perfect location to stay prior to our cruise to visit Seattle. The rooms were comfortable - the beds comfy and pillows adequate. The water pressure in the shower was great, but the flush in the toilet was so loud it was unnerving! The temperature was easy to regulate and the air conditioner didn't wake me as it cycled. I liked that the pool was a lap pool and the temperature was just right; however, the pool area was frequently out of towels. ( I'd suggest a sign over the towel rack asking guests to let the front desk know if they're out.) The fitness center was as cold as a meat locker - we didn't use it. With a little attention to detail, this hotel could really exceed expectations. Besides not keeping the towel rack stocked, there was an extensive list of events, festivals, etc,, in the elevator - for the previous month! This should have been replaced well before the 5th. Also, when I went to the front desk to ask the location of the laundry facilities, I was advised what floors they were on but not that I'd need quarters - requiring a return visit to the front desk. Over the sink in the room, there was a sign inviting guests to call the front desk if they needed any incidentals. When we called down for toothpaste, my boyfriend was asked if he had lost his luggage! (This actually struck us as really funny.) All in all, it was a good stay and we'd stay again if we were returning to Seattle. July 15, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Front Desk Staff When I checked in, as a member, I was surprised when the clerk told me my Visa would be double billed, but the duplicate billing would fall off my account within 7-10 business days. My Visa is a debit card (I don't own a credit card due to past problems#. I have never been double billed on my card and I always stay at a HIEX hotel. I informed him I was a member, but he said that didn't matter. I also informed him that this had never been done before, he stated that he worked in hotels for years and they always double billed on a credit card. I assumed this was a state of Washington thing. I'm from California, but have used my Visa in other states. I then informed him I was going on a cruise the next day and that charge could hinder my funds for my cruise. He wouldn't budge. This really upset me. The next morning while checking out, the clerk #a wonderful lady, sorry can't remember her name# asked about my stay and I thought, what the heck, so I told her what happened. She stated that was not policy and checked my account and was very happy when she told me there was no double billing on my account towards my Visa. This made me very happy and relieved a lot of stress I had been having all night trying to rearrange my expenses for our cruise #which by the way was for our 25th wedding anniversary celebration), so she saved the day. Also there was no recognition for our IHG club membership. July 15, 2014

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Place to Stay The hotel staff was friendly and efficient. The location is great for those who like to walk the city streets. We did all of our site-seeing on foot. Breakfast was standard; the kitchen area was very clean. A few more fresh fruit selections would have added to the quality. There was an unpleasant sour odor in the shower area when we arrived. I noticed that it disappeared a day or two of our five-night stay. A bathroom fan might reduce the possibility of this happening with the shower curtains. July 13, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent Staff The staff was ready and willing to help. I used points to stay here and everything was ready when I checked in -- early since I had just gotten off a cruise. When I went to check out, there was a woman in the lobby complaining loudly about not being in the right hotel. She wanted the Holiday Inn instead of the Holiday Inn Express -- they are literally right next door to each other. The staff was calm and tried to understand her problem. Then when my ride didn't show up to take me to the airport, the staff called them. They said they were on their way, but called back 20 minutes later and said to call a cab. The staff called a cab and because it would have cost me $5.00 more to take a cab than the pre-arranged ride, they fronted me the $5.00. I hope they got their money back from the company who was supposed to pick me up. July 12, 2014
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by General Cleanliness Room was fine. We reserved one with a jetted tub. All the jets except one were functional. Location of the hotel is great…within an easy walk to the Space Needle. Noticed that the hallway spaces were not vacuumed well or not vacuumed at all. We saw the same debris for the three nights we were there. I guess I am "on the fence" on whether to recommend this property. It is in a great location, but the rates are fairly steep. Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Outstanding staff and very comfortable bed The people at the front desk were very welcoming and helpful. The suite we had, although only on the 2nd floor, was very nicely laid out. My only negative comments are that the outlets by the bed were not accessible, the bathrooms needed updating (the bath stalls were yellowed and the bathtub had a crack in the corner), and some of the towels were stained. The rest of the areas were spotless. We were given (by Briana) very helpful and detailed instructions for our walking route to the Space Needle, and we received first class shuttle service to our cruise ship in the morning. When we first got there, she also told us of a very good restaurant just 50 ft. away from the hotel. July 10, 2014

They were welcoming even though I didn't arrive until 1:00 am tired and exhausted after a day of traveling. Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by poor beds and service Stopped here for a two night stay to see Seattle. It took too long to walk to public transportation. Neighborhood seemed seedy. Hotel appearance from street looked seedy. One of our party dropped a jacket on a table in the restaurant checking on a tour. Within seconds the jacket disappeared. Of course no one saw anything and the staff were not helpful or concerned (Except for Ken) Jacket was never located. Beds were hard as rocks. July 6, 2014

The staff was great. very attentive to my needs. The complimentary breakfast was a nice touch and had plenty of choices on the menu. I had a minor problem with the internet in business area but the staff were helpful in resolving the problem. They staff were very helpful in directing us to surrounding attractions and giving us several choices for transportation. Overall my experiences resulted in a very relaxing and enjoyable vacation. Holiday Inn Express and Suites Seattle-City Center met and exceeded our expectations during our 3 night stay while seeing the sights of Seattle. It was convenient to Space Needle and monorail into downtown - - although most folks would be able to walk into downtown as well. As far as amenities go; the room met our expectations and the lobby was large and comfortable during the few times we used. The frontdesk staff was exceptional. The small restaurant (The Emerald Grill) within the complex was great. The best clam chowder we've ever had and among the best meals we had in Seattle. Cocktails and service also great. We would stay at this hotel again -- far better value than what we have experienced in the downtown area. July 3, 2014

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good Quality for the location I had a mixed experience, but overall, enjoyed my stay. I asked for a room away from the elevators-and the check-in clerk told me it was-but was actually right next to the elevator (room 530). The parking garage was awesome and I highly recommend you keep it. It was nice to out of the weather in a controlled area. The shuttle to the baseball park is a mess. I think if you are going to shuffle your customers to that business, you must get involved to see that they are taken care of. This is the first hotel I have stayed at, without a courtesy or shuttle van. Yuck! Lastly, I left my Kindle and the hotel housekeeper says he had it. I gave him my FEDEX number to ship it. This was Thursday and today is Tuesday. I am still waiting for it. I am grateful he took the time to send it to me, but I would have liked to have a tracking number so I don't have to call the hotel and ask where it is. I feel it makes me seem ungrateful and unappreciative. I would rather ask FEDEX where it is. Again, overall, I had a nice stay. Better when/if I get my Kindle. July 1, 2014

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Helpful staff, comfortable room good breakfast We arrived about 3 hours before check-in time and the staff couldn't be more helpful. We were a group of 9 and although our rooms were not ready, staff stored our luggage so we could do some sightseeing before check-in. When we returned about 5 hours later, check-in was quick and efficient. BTW, the transportation service that the hotel provided was superior in timeliness and service. The driver took great pains to locate us amid the chaos of the airport and got us quickly to the hotel.The free breakfast at the hotel had a good variety of cereals, pancakes and eggs. Our only complaint was that the juices were a bit bland . Our room was comfortable and quiet and was clean except for the stained carpet.. But overall our stay was pleasant and the hotel conveniently located so we could walk to the Space Needle and downtown waterfront areas. June 29, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great rooms,staff and breakfast buffet We were pleasantly surprised we had a 1 bedroom suite with 2 queen beds and 2 bathrooms. The rooms were spacious, clean and comfortable. The complimentary breakfast buffet was great with lots of options including pancakes, eggs, meats,toast, muffins, cereal etc. We were very pleased with the staff and our overall stay. They even let my aunt store her luggage here after our cruise free of charge until her plane left. We would stay here again :) You could also see the space needle out of our window, only a few blocks away. June 28, 2014

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Great staff but expensive for what it is We goggled for a hotel near King St station and this came up but after checking in we discovered there were other IHG hotels much closer to the station. The front desk staff were great,efficient and friendly but the breakfast room staff did not appear to be customer focused as they left guests outside a locked door until a couple of minutes after 6.30 am. By USA standards rooms are compact at best and bathrooms small. Although I used my priority club points for this stay it appeared to be overpriced for what it is, ,I have stayed at better Seattle hotels for less recently. June 26, 2014

Room rate was great! only a couple blocks from space needle. and right on the express bus route so getting ANYWHERE downtown was really easy and fast. Also easy to freeway access. I would definitely stay at this hotel again. Pool is a little small, but you can see the space needle from it so that makes up for it! June 25, 2014
