Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Friendly staff and comfortable stay The hotel staff was very accommodating and able to provide information, directions, and assistance with a smile. Room was clean and comfortable. July 31, 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by An Average Hotel We stayed here for a week, during the perfect time of year for Seattle. The hotel is located close to the Space Needle and we were lucky to have a view of it from our room window. The room was average otherwise. Clean and comfortable but nothing special. The downside of the perfect view we had was that the room was also next to the service elevator and far from everything else. Some problems at the hotel during our stay made it less than stellar. One of the main elevators was broken the entire stay (there are only 2 main elevators) so the fully booked hotel was a nightmare to go up and down. We had to wait so much I finally started to use the stairs. The parking here is also limited, so parking was a pain even though we paid for it. Don't even bother bringing in a full size vehicle as all of the spots are marked for compact cars and our Ford Edge was a tight fit. We were able to park in the adjacent hotel's parking lot with the help of the manager, but it was not convenient. The staff here was pretty good, and we had mostly good experiences. It seems hit or miss though, because I overheard a night manager giving someone what I considered bad service and we had good experience during the day. The exception was my request for a late checkout and someone giving me approval the night before we left, only to have someone else the next morning saying they couldn't do it and saying the person who told me shouldn't have said that. Good customer service would have granted my request based on their error, considering it was only a one hour difference. All in all, we enjoyed the stay more because of the weather and sights in Seattle and not because of our hotel room. It was just an average room with a nice view and bad location in the hotel. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great service One person in particular that was extremely nice was Evan at the front desk. July 29, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Close to Space Center Our Suite was comfortable; breakfast was good. Hotel was close enough we could walk to Space center, EMP museum and Chihuly gardens. Easy access to downtown by bus. July 29, 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Elevators Only one elevator was operational during our week stay. It was explained to us that the other elevator needed to be replaced and that we were lucky because the week before they had no elevators. Other than the mild inconvience, we never saw any sign of the broken one being replaced. July 28, 2013
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Older Hotel This hotel seems to be an older hotel in need of major remodeling. One of the only two elevators was out of service the entire three days of our stay creating extended wait times. I was awakened at 3:06 AM by a "courtesy wake up call" that I did not request. Parking is at a premium and the staff allowed parking in handicapped spaces without having to show a handicap permit as a convenience to late arriving guests . The rooms are small with older furniture. Overall, this stay was a very disappointing experience considering the cost. July 27, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good value for Seattle My wife and I stayed for 2 nights. Room was clean and what you expect from a Holiday Inn Express. It is attached to an Older Holiday Inn so it has restaurant service in the evenings which we considered a plus. Location is comfortable walking distance to the Space Needle, and its Monorail which connects with the cities excellent public transportation system. If you don't have too much luggage you can use the public system to the go to the airport which is a 30 minute cab ride and costs accordingly. Good value. July 26, 2013
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Felt cramped Room was small. Reminded me of NYC rooms. One elevator didn't work and staff could not provide an estimated time of repair. Although we could use the service elevator, we often had long waits and cramped in one remailing elevator. The staff seemed to imply that because it was a major repair, the elevator may not be repaired. Building appeared old, so maybe corporate is waiting to upgrade other infrastructure or replace building? Dining room was too small for suimmer tourist seasons. Often had to wait to find a seat to eat [the very good] breakfasts. Parking outside and underneath was cramped though we always found a space to park underneath where we had paid to park. Cost was high for these kind of accomodations. July 25, 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Front desk staff not hospitable The front desk staff specifically a male tall with blonde hair. Not helpful spoke where I couldn't hear him. Seemed like he didn't care. The girl in the brakfast area was not helpful. The coffee pots were empty, and I told her and she said. It will be awhile before I refill. I would not recommend tis hotel due to the poor service I received. July 24, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great value THis hotel is a great value. Moderate pricing, close to where most people want to go in Seattle. Friendly staff. Nice room. Will stay again. July 24, 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Great staff, pricier than the value Greeted warmly upon arrival, and quickly got checked in. Great front desk staff (I believe it was Matt?). We didn't spend much time in the room since we were in town to visit family, and it was comfortable, although I wouldn't want to spend many hours in there - a little small compared to other Holiday Inn Express's we've stayed in. The toilet was not functioning when we arrived and the maintenance man showed up almost immediately after our call. Great service, and got it working. Breakfast was a little crazy busy with lots of people zipping in and out, but good food as usual. All in all, glad we stayed there, but the price was much higher than normal HIEs. I guess that's due to location. Would stay there again though if ever in Seattle again. July 21, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Convenient and comfortable The hotel was extremely convenient to where we needed to be on that weekend. The room was clean, roomy and comfortable. The free breakfast was very nice. I would definitely stay there again. July 20, 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Decent hotel, shame about the breakfast The hotel is located in a great spot, real close to the Space Needle and downtown and the rooms are clean and as good as you would expect from a budget hotel. It was nice to have a pool and gym facilities and the staff were friendly enough. But I can't find words to describe how truly terrible the breakfast was. It was served on paper plates with plastic knife and fork and consisted of the most terrible, tasteless, over-processed food you can imagine. I don't think anything was fresh except for the sad looking bunch of bright green bananas. The muffins were hard and stale, the cheese omelette consisted of powdered egg / egg substitute with a slice of bright orange processed cheese on it and the 'fresh' waffles came out of a packet of tasteless goop fed into a machine so that they were just freshly heated rather than freshly prepared. The food was so hideously bad that it has put me off ever visiting a Holiday Inn again! July 19, 2013
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Seattle We were very disappointed with the room that had NOT been updated. Fire alarm went off at 8 am and the elevator was never repaired during our 5 day stay. We had to sign an agreement that we would not smoke in the room and the floor reeked of cigarette smoke. We complained at the front desk and no action was taken. July 18, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Tremendously accommodating staff Upon arriving at the hotel, we were greeted at the front desk by a wonderfully accommodating young man, Tray. He welcomed us and did everything within his ability to make our stay five-star. He upgraded our room, provided suggestions for dining, and gave up hints to finding our way around Seattle. He even personally led us to the adjoining grill. All this was done with a genuine smile. We returned to the same hotel two days later and received similar hospitality. I highly commend Holiday Inn Express for valuing friendly service and particularly wish to offer kudos to Tray for doing what he could to makie our brief stay in Seattle so enjoyable. July 18, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by GREAT LOCATION GOOD BREAKFAST VERY NICE LOCATION, WE WALKED TO THE SPACE NEEDLE AND TO PIKES MARKET. PARKING WAS FREE BUT HAD ALREADY TURNED IN THE RENTAL CAR BECAUSE WERE LEAVING ON CRUISE NEXT DAY. HOTEL SET US UP FOR TRANSPORTATION TO PIER. MAKE SURE YOU GO ON THE DUCKY. July 17, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Overall great but the interent is slow During the day the internet connection speed is acceptable. But in the evening when most everyone is in their rooms working or playing online the connection speed was flat out dead. Web pages wouldn't load, some would load partially. I tried both wifi and the cable connection in the room and both were the same slow speed. The assumption is the bandwidth coming into the hotel is just not able to handle the load. Other HIE hotels can and do. Staying at HIE is businees related, traveling is the result of doing business and if I cannot work from the hotel I am unable to create the business to continue to travel in the future. For me to comtinue to stay at this HIE they need to allow me to work efficiently online in the evenings that will build my business so that I will need to make a return trip. July 17, 2013
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Ok but not great Rooms were not really clean. Construction inside hotel was very smelly. Staff was excellent and very helpful. July 16, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Customer Service Last week my family and I came to Seattle for a celebration for my son-in-laws one year cancer free checkup and stayed at your Holiday Inn Express. I am a IHG member and have stayed at a lot of Holiday Inn Express’s. I know customers always contact you with complaints but I wanted to take the time to tell you the GREAT JOB that Tray did during our stay. We stayed there on 3rd. and went to coast for the 4th and came back and stayed on 5th & 6th and each time Tray was there to greet us. He made sure everything was ready for us and gave us suggestions of things we could see. He pointed out the local discount cards that worked out very well saving me money on appetizers. He made sure I was able to print our boarding passes the night before we left. All in all he did a great job and when we come back to Seattle we will stay at your hotel again. Please give him a pat on the back for my family. Thanks Brad July 12, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great Service Comfortable bed. Room Clean an staff and service excellent. July 9, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great service! We checked in rather late and the staff at the front desk were very helpful. Our room was not ready, so we got an unexpected room with a view, the gentleman ran down to meet us in the garage to give us our room key to save us the trip back to the front desk. The breakfast is a money saver and was decent, enough to fill you up with pancakes, sausage or bacon and save you a meal out. The coffee was GREAT! Better than any hotel coffee we've ever had. Our room was comfortable and I liked that it had a little fridge. Overall - our stay was very nice! July 9, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent Staff Best thing about my stay was the helpfulness of the staff behind the service desk. Breakfast at the hotel had a lot of choices and was good. July 8, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Central Location Hotel was very central to everything. We were able to walk to alot of our destinations. The room was nice and large with a great view of the space needle. Breakfast didn't offer a lot of choice but was a bonus to have and not have to go out every morning. The parking garage was really tight but otherwise, we had a nice stay. July 5, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Enjoyed Stay Close to the Sky Needle. Trey at the front desk was extremely helpful! July 5, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Tray Staff was outstanding! Give them a raise. They took very excellent care of us. Breakfast nook was too small. July 5, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by one of the best Hioliday Inn Express properties we took a girls trip for my daughter's 18th birthday, 4 of us total. Based on our previous experiences with Holiday Inn Express hotels we decided that was the best choice for us for this trip to Seattle. It was centrally located and we knew we could get around by foot easily. Unfortunately I was a little late in making the room reservations. I went online and was unable to find anything available to sleep four. I called the hotel directly and was promptly transferred to the internal reservation/sales department. Nick was very kind and accommodating. He could not find us a 2 queen bed room but was able to give us a queen suite and offered it to us as the same rate. And after realizing that I couldn't use my Priority Club points when booking with Nick, he asked me to please call IHC/Priority Club number and have them arrange for me to do so. Through he and Savannah, we were given a very fair price for the first night and then I was able to use my points for the remaining two nights. We checked in rather late i the evening. Some hotels have a not so friendly night staff, those that show that they could care less and that there job was just that - a job. Not the case when we arrived at the property. Tray and Matt prompty welcomed us and asked us how our train ride to town was, quickly processed our check in, and showed much care and customer service even at 1030pm. We were given maps of the city with place marked that are hot spots. We were even given a personal recommendation to a late night dinner place a few blocks away. We were short a few towels and pillows, so when we left for the late night eatery, we let Matt and Tray know. When we returned to our room, we found four additional pillows and enough towels to get us through the weekend. Even after realizing I had forgotten my toothbrush, one was very quickly brought up t me -- no charge. Each morning when we ventured out into the city we were greeted with a "Good Morning -- have a great day!" and each night when we returned Tray and Matt would ask us how our day went, what we did, and genuinely spoke to us. On my daughter's actual birthday evening, Tray got the whole lobby to say "Happy Birthday" to her!!! We would recommend this property to others -- 100%!!! Thank you for a wonderful stay and for your excellent customer service! July 3, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Good location and service This hotel is well located near the Space Needle and the monorail station and offers good value for money. Room are large and well equipped. The staff were helpful and friendly and went out of their way to assist on occasions. Breakfast is standard Holiday Inn Express fare but there is plenty available and is included in room tariff. Internet worked well. July 3, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Matt and Tray were great We were vacationing with friends and stayed 2 nights in this hotel before heading to Vancouver. We planned to return to this hotel for one final night before heading home. Since the weather in Vancouver was rainy and cold and the weather in Seattle was forcasted to be better, we decided to return a day earlier. When the web site said the hotel was sold out, we called directly and talked to Matt. At first he also said they were sold out but somehow managed to find 2 rooms for us so we didn't have to change hotels. Tray checked us in and even upgraded our friends so they didn't have to change rooms between the 2 nights as they had originally expected. June 30, 2013
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 Expensive Hotel-Stay Somewhere Else I was very disappointed to find a very small double room for what I paid per night. The hotel is difficult to get to because of one way streets and the adjacent highway. I picked the hotel so that I could walk around downtown, but wished I had stayed outside the city and drove in when needed. Overnight parking rates were added to the already overpriced room. The breakfast choices were pathetic. The dining room was full and one of the toasters was out of order. The hall outside my room was very hot and smelt like stale cigarette smoke. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone and will never stay there again. If this had been my first visit to Holiday Inn Express, it would have been my last. June 25, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Four Days in Seattle - Excellent location for City Center, Space Needle, etc, We had a wonderful time and good stay. The evening staff were excellent to work with on finding restaurants, Walgreens, best ways to get to pike market. the hotel breakfast was great and to see how many people go through that line and turn around of food made. Great Staff. Rooms on the South side of the hotel have a great view of the space needle. Great Staff members. Cons about the Hotel: only one printer in the business computer room. Who ever makes the Coffee on the weekends makes it less bitter then the person during the weekdays. June 23, 2013
