I have stayed at the Holiday Inn Express in Selma several times over the past four years. It is a good place to stay for leisure or business travelers.
Like most of Selma cleanliness is sometimes lacking but it is cleaner than any of the other hotels.
The staff is great to work with. In particular there is one staff person who staffed the front desk on Friday who is a student at Concordia College Alabama in Selma who was as effervescent and charming as any front desk clerk I have come across. She will go places.

We really enjoyed our stay at this hotel. The check in staff was always smiling and gave me their full attention. They knew what they were doing and the check in went quickly. The room was comfortable. The breakfast was good. The lady who supervised breakfast made sure we had everything we needed, but she didn't hover over us. To me, the outstanding quality of this hotel is the staff. We asked for a dinner recommendation. The lady at the front desk recommended 2 restaurants. We tried one and it was very good. There were warm chocolate chip cookies when we returned from dinner. That was just the dessert we wanted. When we checked out, I mentioned that the commode in the bathroom was loose. It worked and did not leak, but I thought it needed a little attention for the next guest. The lady at the desk immediately relayed my concern to the maintenance worker. I cannot say enough good things about this staff. I was treated as a guest and not just a customer. Thank you!
The only problem we had was with the internet. The signal was not very strong. We were in the last room on the first floor and the signal was weak. It did work, but slowly.

Comfortable quiet atmosphere. Staff was great, very knowledgeable, polite, willing to please. I would recommend this hotel to anyone in the Selma area! The WIFI could stand to be faster hard to get work complete.

We are frequent travelers and stay at many hotels. This is an impressive HI Express hotel. We were pleased with our stay there.

We were in Selma for the annual bridge crossing jubilee. All of the facilities were booked. This holiday Inn Express was the only place we could get a room. They did not tell us that the room we were getting was a handicapped room. I was a little disappointed with the room because the bathroom smelled of urine. Maybe a good cleaning with bleach may have helped. My husband also complained to me that the beds were very uncomfortable.

Was booked for six nights, checked out after two. Unclean rooms, dirty grout, broken tiles, left-over garbage in room from last reservation, sticky table in room...

The level of service and cleanliness of the room was not up to the standards of other similar hotels. Was not recognized as a Priority Club member (Platinum member) at check in and was not provided with water, snack or other "gift" as is typical. Room, while not bad, just had a not clean look and feel. I stay in approximately 100 hotels a year and this one was near the bottom. I will not stay there again and would not recommend it to others.

Everything about the hotel was wonderful. The staff was knowledgeable about the local eateries and very compasionate to our needs. If you do need to stay in Selma; then this hotel is a must. Thank you very much Holiday Inn Express!!!!!
