I would check around for a better value. This hotel was right out of the early 90's and had one elevator for guests and staff to compete over.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by SuzLovetoTravelxoxo Wonderful Staff and great breakfast!
The Hotel Staff is very nice! Front desk staff greets you every time you pass the desk. Erica was very nice! Very helpful with local information too. Although I passed on having my room cleaned the housekeeper would always greet me in the hall and ask if I needed anything. The breakfast is very good! The two Ladies keep everything refilled and very clean.
The Hotel location is great on the water in the center of town.
I would like to be able to book a balcony room not just request one. Thank you for an enjoyable stay!

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Danene One bed for 3 up to 5 people
Everything was ok with the hotel except that we booked a king with a sofa bed. The room was for a max of 5 people but there was only one bed and no sofa bed as described on the hotel page. We had to request an extra bed and seemed like we required something out f this world considering the staff response.

ROOM NEVER MET EXPECTATIONS AFTER FIRST NIGHT.
-two light bulbs burned out
-Refrigerator not plugged in, son crawled around behind cabinets. I needed for prescription meds
-clock not plugged in, had to pullout nightstand, battery kept falling out of clock
-Bathroom faucet leaked on cold side so much I had to use washrags to channel water so it did run onto the floor.
-After first night plastic glasses, soap, shampoo, Kleenex ,and half the towels were never replaced.
-room never vacuumed
-I DID INFORM THE MANAGER

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by ktj4 Great stay with a wonderful view
Staying at he Seward Holiday Inn Express was a great experience. The hotel was very clean and updated. The breakfast options were very good especially the great quality of the fresh fruit. The wall of windows in the dining area provided lots of natural light with a wonderful view of the mountains and harbor. The dining room staff were friendly and professional.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by 2 Moms Travel Charming Seward, Ak hotel
This hotel is charming and the location is amazing - directly on the harbor. However, it is still a Holiday Inn Express, yet the nightly rate will set you back like a five-star. So, while the harbor side view rooms come with amazing harbor views, it's still a Holiday Inn Express. We recently stayed 2 nights, one paid and the other I used points. I have platinum status and the first night I was given literally the least desirable room. Literally. Bottom corner facing a noisy parking lot. When I found out others without status had been given upgrades I was upset as I give my loyalty to a hotel with the expectation that will be reciprocated. Anyway, the next night I used points and those points were for a harbor view. Fortunately, they honored my reservation and I was given what I booked. The Harbor side rooms have amazing views and I definitely recommend them if you can afford the rate. The hotel was clean, and had a nice (small) indoor pool with a functioning hot-tub. The kids loved the pool and it was nice to warm up after spending the days outside in the cool rain. Staff was always friendly and the lobby was a nice area to mingle with other guests and compare fishing stories. Overall, it is a nice hotel, that offers a fairly extensive free breakfast every morning. One or two nights is a nice splurge but after that, it gets pricey for what you get. I wouldn't hesitate to book another stay should we visit Seward again.
