VancouverVince Wonderful Place To Stay, Relax and Enjoy The Vew
The rooms either face the Seward Marina or the mountains to the west of the hotel.
If you are going to be busy out of the room most of the time I expect the mountain view rooms will fine (and save you money).
If you will spend a material amount of time in your room, by all means get a marina view room. The views are over the Seward Marina and across to the glacier covered mountains on the east side of Resurrection Bay. Or you can sleep with only the sheers pulled and wake to the predawn light slowly illuminating the marina.
Attached is a picture taken April 10, 2013, from one of the marina view rooms.
Staff is wonderful. Front desk people seem constantly aware of road conditions to Anchorage. Weather conditions in Anchorage. Housekeeping staff friendly, efficient and helpful.
When it comes to accurate authoritative information, one of the ladies at the front desk is known as "Spock's sister."

My friends and I got a room at the HIE, and had a great time. It is conveniently located, we loved the hot tub, and breakfast was great. There was more than enough room for all four of us, and the price was right.

I've been to Alaska over 40 times for business and pleasure staying at hotels throughout the state and this mid-March stay was, by far, the most pleasing. The hotel is in excellent condition. Our harbor view of both the marine facility and the mountains was absolutely picturesque. Unfortunately, the picture of the hotel doesn't capture the beauty of the surrounding area or the quality of the facility. I could have sat all day just watching the mountains and the daily arrival of the sea otters that visited every late afternoon and evening! The staff was very friendly and helpful, especially the lady who maintained breakfast service. Nice, open lobby area and breakfast service area, again with large bay windows overlooking the harbor. Hot tub and small indoor pool were nice editions.
Very ADA-friendly- only hotel I've ever been that has one lift for placing persons in pool and another lift for placing individuals in the hot tub.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Arbitrator I was surprised how good the breakfast was, really enjoyed it
I am a little leery of the "free breakfast" offered at some hotels. I was pleasantly surprised at the quality and variety at the Seward's Holiday Inn Express. The bacon was good and the egg and cheese omelets was a nice surprise. Of course the hot cinnamon roles were a winner. I tried the pancake machine, not bad but after the cinnamon roles, too much. The staff was great.
