Beds were hard. I booked a non-smoking room. Had no smoking signs all over the place. Yet woke up to the smell of cigarette smoke. Was very disappointed in this. Went to dry off my face on hand towel and there was a long black hair hanging off towel. Nothing was ever said to me about being a Priority Club member. Road construction makes it a pain to get into entrance.

Thanks the good room service by 7th floor cleaner. I bought some fruits and put them at the room ,the cleaner saw those fruits, help to set up a small refrigeratory at room ,this one is not a standard equipment at HIX.

This is one of the lousiest Holiday Inn Express chains that I have stayed in. The bed is not comfortable, and even though the room is big (for shanghai standards), it is not well designed. The in-room internet connection is also sluggish.
Please do something. I definitely would not recommend a stay at this hotel.

I am a regular stayer in Shanghai Jinqiao Central Holiday Inn Express.
I am please to share my experience during my stay from the 17 ~ 19th April that the staff are very pleasant, friendly and helpful.
The house keeping was also very efficient and their performance was good. the room was tidied in a matter of minutes..
Facilities wise, there is only the Gym to talk about. The tread mill when in use was not comfortable and gave a jerking experience when on it. That's the only experience.
Overall, I am pleased.

The hotel is great for people with limited budget. It is close to the metro which will take you anywhere in town for a few yuan, and there is a modern shopping centre close by. For this money the room and location are great.

1. Regarding the laundry service, it was not convenient, guest is requested to bring the clothes to front desk and collect back from front desk. Hope that it could be improved
2. Transportation, since there was a constructional project outside hotel, not easy to get taxi. Wish hotel could assist the guest to arrange the taxi service, especially for the foreign guests who cannot speak Chinese.
3. It was puplished in the lobby that car rental service was provided, unluckily, it was no more available when we asked. Is it possible to have this servie

I just wanted to say that this hotel is nicely located near subway which is about a 5min walk and also to many food outlets and shopping center.
The room I stayed in was clean however, the bath room seals are a little old and cracking.
The breakfast was so, so. I was expecting it to be better. There was a mix of american and chinese style food. The food is usually the same every morning and not much change. There is a lot of oil that is used to cook the food, my suggestion is to cut down on the oil.
The dollar value is fair for the location. room cleanliness is good. however, there are times when i arrive back the rooms where slightly not clean or missing iteams in the washroom.
I think with more dedication from the staff will keep this Holiday Inn Express my stop in Shanghai. Keep up the good work but please change the breakfast menu more often and make it more healthy since now more people want to eat healthy food.

The service was excellent! Professional and friendly staff, always cheerful and smiling.
Location is in the Jinqiao area, close enough to WaiGaoJiao (if you are there for business). Many neighbourhood shops near the hotel seling food, clothes, etc to explore if one is inclined. More upscale malls and eateries located after the Jinqiao Rd Metro station (Jinqiao International Business Plaza) about 500m away, say a 10 minute walk or so.
Note that construction of new metro line is in progress around the hotel with road diversions.
Room was up to mark for HIE (yes, I have since found out there are no refrigerators in HIEs across China); clean and functional. Takes some time to warm up the room though.
Breakfast was surprisingly decent; standard fare for HIE but there were green vegetables, fruit, onion rings, salad and pasta among other things; good enough mix of Chinese/Western. Perhaps can do something other than boiled eggs (scrambled, maybe?).

Comfortable bed and pillow. Staff are able to speak English and very friendly. Overall great experience. Will stay again if back in Shanghai.

The hotel location is so far from the central and it's hard to find even for taxi. We paid RMB 70 to go from the hotel to the central. And when we come back, no taxi accept to take us to the hotel because taxi drivers dont know the hotel location....
We book 1 day city tour, but have no confirmation from our tour office. One staff of hotel (Janes) helped us to find a tour and book for us, although it's not her job. Thanks very much for that, we dont waste 1 our day, and enjoy a beautiful city.

Room and services meet my expectation. It is disappointing that all the past months (more than 200 days of stay) does not earn IHG rewards point, reason being payment was made under Company account. However, IHG rewards system failed to recognize the individual for the choice and preference. I hope this review serve as a wake-up call to IHG rewards club.

Due to business reason, I've to choose a hotel at Pudong. Holiday Inn Express is considered cost effective.
However, it's not typical five star hotel. So one cannot expect too much for it.
