They cancelled our hotel reservations that I had confirmed and even had a contract that stated we were guaranteed late arrival! the owner was so rude that I ended up calling the local police department. We were literally stranded on this field trip! 6 students and myself had just flown from Florida! I will never stay here again, nor will I stay at any holiday inn Express after this experience! Front desk staff was incredible; very friendly and helpful. Room was clean My room was quiet, which was a benefit. Bathroom was clean.. This is a good holiday inn to stay at for rest. This Holiday Inn was very unclean, dirty toilet, dingy/yellow towels, crushed lampshades (looked like someone had a fight/brawl in the room), no regular coffee, some of the light switches / lights didn't work. It is a good value for the location that it is in.The staff is very friendly. The lady manager was very very helpful. It would be nice if it had a whirlpool inside. October 19, 2014
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Shelbyville HI Express Review Thank you for the invitation to review the Shelbyville HI Express. While the exterior hotel appearance and grounds were appealing upon first arriving at the property, other issues were noted with the room/location: slow tub drain, loose toilet seat, some form of drips on the t.p. holder, water stains under sink, electrical outlet by the bed "melted," bent/loose shower rod, missing sink drain stopper, horrible off/on "thunk" & vibrate sound for A.C. cycling, and the list could go on. NOTE: list left with the Front Desk manager at departure. Regarding breakfast, I agree with the other two travelers: 'does this taste funny to you???' The local unfiltered water must have been used to make the coffee and creamed beef - we all ended up having cereal & carton milk from the limited selection. If there isn't a water filtration system, this property desperately needs one; if there is a system, it needs repair! For room location, despite Rewards member status, comments in the reservation, and a phone call around 10am the morning before arrival, I still ended up in a room sleeping with ear plugs re: I-64 truck noise and the A.C. unit referenced above. For my next two nights still on the road traveling, stays at competitor brands were far better #for the same nominal price range, i.e., far better value to the Customer#. October 18, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Breakfast My concern was with three items. The bacon was under cooked...chewy not crisp. I did not like the scrambled eggs...watery. The gravy tasted funny. I was afraid to eat it. The rest of the items were find. While some of the food items were less than desirable, the ladies taking care of the counter were quick to keep items stocked and to keep it clean. October 14, 2014
