Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Ttu1986 Needs updating
The property is very old and not typically of Holiday Inn Express quality. This staff was kind and courtesy. It's just that the property itself is more like a motel. The air conditioner was very loud and the units condensation make the walk ways wet. It was clean but needs a lot of property updating to be a quality property.

The previous 3 years have stayed at the location and would have given good remarks..Not this time...Noisy (although I chose a downstairs room, Mistake), parking can be terrible unless you don't mind walking away's...This Holiday needs to be completely re-done...The carpets are torn and dirty....Did not stay for the breakfast, had many miles to travel the next day and left early..
My biggest complaint was the extra $100 they charged my bank card without notifying me at check in time...Of course it was credited a few days later, but for someone to use my money w/o telling me is absolutely wrong...This may be the policy now, but have never been done to me previously...I totally resent this policy....Have no intentions of staying at this location again...

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Fairchild I keep coming back to this hotel
I have been in and out of the area for three months on business and keep coming back to the Holiday Inn Express Simi Valley. On Day 1 it was obvious to me that the hotel is very well run and this translates into a very positive atmosphere. The hotel itself offers the things that are most important to me: a proper work desk, good in-room WiFi, a comfortable bed and in-room microwave and fridge. This lets me hit the ground running and maintain a productive routine. It also has the nice extras: fitness centre, complimentary breakfast, parking and, of course, the pool. Then there is the location: There are restaurants, stores, gas and groceries all within a block of the hotel, and a large town centre just up the street. Access from the highway could not be easier and the views of the surrounding hills are wonderful. I could go on and on but what really sets the hotel apart is the staff. HIEX Simi Valley is definitely a winner!

Older property, but very well maintained, would stay here again. Liked secured gates to upstairs and inside rooms.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by NE2013 Friendly and helpful staff
We had not planned on staying at his location, but ran into it by accident. We ended up staying one more day because of the great staff and comfort of the room and property. The location was well-supervised and safe. It was very easy to access our connecting flight in Burbank when we needed to and access to outlet stores in Camarillo was only a 30 minute drive.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by jdkdp Great room and very comfortable.
My husband and I stayed 2 nights. We were very comfortable and enjoyed the room. The cooler worked great in 98 degress weather. The bed was just like home. We had very soft towels and linens. Very clean. The front desk employees were so helpful and polite. The entire hotel was clean. Best hotel stay of our trip.

Overall the stay was nice.
Cons: The air conditioner was so loud that I had to turn the volume up and down on the TV every few minutes. The ceiling dripped water.
Pro's: Breakfast bar great! Staff very helpful and nice. Location was perfect. Very close to Moorpark College.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by CMDRE68 Get close to Reagan!
This property is very convenient to the Reagan Presidential Library and Museum. I spent four nights there and overall my impression of the facility is good. The only disadvantage having a room over looking the pool (i.e. interior courtyard) is that sounds are amplified and carry as they do in any amphitheatre. And you can't control guests speaking to each other. You can encourage the housekeeping staff not to call out from one side to the other!
Finally, while having an open whirl pool bath in the room is a nice touch, it does add to the humidity!

this is a good hotel with an excellent Free breakfast. The staff is freindly. Beds Good, Towels Good, Shower good. For me to go to the San Fernando valley it is a little out of the way, but I think for the price it is worth the drive. El Torito next store to walk back after cocktails!

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Santo720 Hard mattress
This hotel is set up a little differently from the typical hotel in that it is set up around an outdoor courtyard with a pool. I was not impressed with my room as there were no heavy curtains to keep people from seeing in from the outside as they walked by, it allowed too much light in at night, and the mattress was very uncomfortable. While the staff was polite, I would not stay here again.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Helper Courteous service
The Holiday Inn Express in Simi Valley is one of my favorite places to stay. The staff is helpful but they give you "space". If I need anything it is taken care of immediately and cheerfully. The rooms have always been clean and comfortable. The courtyard is beautiful and relaxing. On check out day, I often find myself wishing that I could stay longer to lounge by the pool.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by biztraveler550 Poor service and uncomfortable beds
In all my travel experience, I have not been more disappointed as I was with this hotel. My bed was harder than a rock, so I tossed and turned all night. I did not get the type of room I paid for and they put me next to the entrance and when people went in and out the metal door slammed....GET SPRINGS ON THE DOORS!

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Moe50 Room was neat and clean.
My last stay was for two nights. I checked into a nice ,neat, and clean room. It was a room in the far opposite corner from the office. It was on the far outside of the building and was very noisy the next morning at 5:30am from the trash trucks emptying garbage at the adjacent restaurants. I wouldn't recommend renting out that room unless the hotel is fully booked.

Stayed for an extended stay. Very happy with overall experience. Property is an older building , but has been well kept. Even thought it has exterior entry doors to rooms the inter court is security controlled with key access gates. Staff was wonderful to work with very friendly and helpful.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by NAR1 How did they get 4 stars??
Old hotel with minor cosmetic changes, mostly to the bathroom. HARD, VERY UNCOMFORTABLE mattress. NOISY hotel with teenagers and young adults running up and down the walkways yelling and shouting. A faulty AC unit that made a racket every time the compressor came on. What can I say, an unbelievably uncomfortable noisy night.
Oh yes, when I made the reservation at the hotel the charged my American Express card immediately even though my trip wasn't for two weeks and told me there was no cancellation policy. Then when I checked in they advised they were charging my card for "incidentals" but would credit my card back if I hadn't charged anything to the room. Come on, this is a Holiday Inn Express with no pay per view, no restaurant, no bar....what could I have possibly charged to the room???
Never coming back, thank God I was only there for one night to visit the Ronald Reagan Library. I travel all over the country on business and usually stay at Holiday Inns and have seen all kinds of rooms, some great and some not so great, but this is by far the worst hotel I have ever stayed in bar none!!!
I hope management reads this because they are ruining the Holiday Inn brand.

Based on this and another Holiday Inn Express experiences we will definetly make this brand a top choice on future trips.

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Tulips You can hear everything thru the walls.
Bedroom with 2 queen beds was spacious enough for family of 4. Staff was nice and courteous. Breakfast was okay and plentiful (eggs, sausage, toast, bagels, cereal, milk, yogurt, juice, coffee, etc). We stayed for 3 nights. If you are a light sleeper, we don't recommend this place. Our first night was not restful at all because we could hear everything through the walls. At 12 midnight, we could hear the next door over - their baby was crying while the adults had the TV on very loud and a man was yelling at the baby to shut up. At around 3am, baby started crying again, then the door slammed and we heard a woman yelled, "Your father likes to smoke, so get over it!" The 2nd night was ok (our neighbor left?). We slept through all the noise on day 2 until 6am when we heard 2 toddler girls running and screaming from the floor above us, then a female voice telling the girls to stop fighting. We thought about changing rooms but it was such a hassle to pack up. The 3rd night, we all were very tired so we wanted to sleep in. However, the next door over had their alarm set at 7am and wouldn't turn it off! After what felt like an eternity (~7min), we called the front office to have it turned off. If it weren't for noisy neighbors, this place is a good option. It includes all the basics that we need at an ok price. We usually stay at Holiday Inn Express when we travel. Once in awhile after a bad experience like this one, we do wonder if we can get more restful sleep for the same price elsewhere.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Devina Excellent all around
Huge comfortable room with jacuzzi tub, which I wasn't expecting...even the bathroom was newly renovated! I guess it really pays to be a PC Member! Breakfast choices were also fantastic and location was great (just off the highway - near some great places to eat). Try Toppers Pizza if you need an excellent but cheap option for the family.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by JaJa Very friendly staff and great service.
It would be nice to have waffles as an option and different yogurt options that don't have so much sugar.
Also, it would be great if you could increase the number of channels on the TV. TV options are very limited and most that I wouldn't wash. ie. I don't care for all the reality shows and most of the channels offered this programming.
Also, a working upright stationary bike.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by EddieQ Like the Staff...Did not like the old TV and remote that didn't work.
Richard is very helpful. Breakfast good. The one day I go to use the Old TV...the flippin remote doesn't work!!!!! So I leave a few dollars on the night stand for housekeeping here's the thing: the money was under the remote which had a note on top if it that said Please fix the remote it does not work. Guess what? I come back from a 14 hr day want to watch a little TV before bed. It still doesn't work!!!!!

I had the greatest check in experience with such a friendly staff. They greeted me with a Priority Club goody bag and had fresh, warm cookies for all the guests. My room overlooked a beautiful courtyard with tall trees and the large pool. I could walk to local restaurants for dinner and had the complimentary breakfast in the morning.
