Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by KC1992 Great location and swimming pool.
I have just returned from a 3ight stay at Holiday Inn Express Singapore- Clarke Quay. As a former employee of HIEX in Europe I was already familiar with the concept before. The check-in was very fast and I was pleased to see that my requests for twin bed and outside view were honoured. The welcome letter of the GM and the discount card for the bar were a nice touch.
I ate breakfast twice during my stay, the variety of choices was good, although on he first day the breakfast area was too crowded and as soon as getting up from the table, the places were taken by someone else.
The swimmiing pool on the roof was a great place to relax after walking around for the entire. Also,.the location was great. About 10min walking to the MRT and Clarke Quay and only 5min to Robertson Quay.
Overall, I really enjoyed my stay. However, I do have some comments regarding the cleanliness of the room. On one evening I dropped my earring, and when I bend down to pick it up I found the slippers and some papers of the previous guest. Also, the toilet paper was not refilled on the second day.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Bowie 1 A really pleasant surprise
As a Boutique style hotel this was certainly a pleasant surprise and exceeded my expectations. I especially enjoyed the open air concept of the Hotel dining facilities and the compact but enjoyable layout of the room, those windows were a unique design. Whilst the Bar could be made more user friendly to relax after a hard day at work/sight-seeing I certainly enjoyed my brief stay and will be back for a longer period next month.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Weisske Insensitive / Indifferent Attitude of Manager on Duty
My parents wanted to leave our luggage at the hotel on our check out date, 19 Feb (first day of Chinese New Year (CNY)) and pick up again on 23 Feb as we were going to Malaysia for CNY holiday. Ashley (manager on duty) rejected our request, she put a condition that she would only allow the luggage to be placed at the hotel for those coming-back guests - we were upset we travelled extensively throughout Europe, Australia and we have no problems with leaving luggage in Holiday Inn Hotels. With such condition imposed on us, we continuously expressed our willingness to stay in Holiday Inn on 23 Feb when my parents come back to Singapore and requested for a good rate, she was not even considering and think through the process. She just rejected outright and that puzzled us. Is she really a qualified manager? I am IHG member and did not expect such treatment. She has been very insensitive considering it is the first day of CNY.
