I checked in on Sunday feb 16. Lady who checked me in was very nice and did her job well. She was the younger of the two at the desk and had shorter brown hair.
Once I arrived to my room I noticed I didn't have a fridge which I always have at this property. I had purchased some bottled water and food items that needed to be refrigerated.
I called down and the other lady working at the desk answered. I asked if any rooms had mini fridges. She said not the standard rooms. I replied by saying I've always had a fridge and was normally upgraded or put on the top floor due to IHG membership. She said the room was not reserved that way and I said well the high school I was working with booked it but I've been upgraded every other time.
She made it very clear from her tone and her attitude that she was not about to do anything to help the situation. Was very disappointed. One time I had to stay at the Brandon holiday property due to overbooking here in SF. Starting to think I may regularly stay at the Brandon property now.
Customer service should be about being understanding and accommodating to your guests. If she would have been more understanding and nicer even if top floor was booked I would have understood. Her lack of caring left a bad taste in that property.

What more could one ask? Second time we've stayed here, and will definitely return! Ask for the 9th Floor - very quiet. Also, a great location downtown relative to some good restaurants and houses of worship, including a beautiful Cathedral of St. Joseph's.

We stayed at this hotel in Sioux Falls. Arrived about 8pm on a Monday night. Got our room. Went to the restaurant for a little bite to eat. Had to ask for almost everything, soup was cold, took forever to get our meal and we were the only ones in the restaurant and only about 6 in the bar and no one was eating there. Had to ask for water. Asked for more salad dressing and then it took 10 minutes to get what we asked for.
We had a room with a balcony. Outside door and the wind blew and it was so cold in our room and the door howled and whistled to the point not much sleep was gotten. Clean, yes. Bed comfy, yes. They let us leave our car there all week and took us to the airport and when we flew in at 10pm Sunday night they came and got us and took us to our car. Would I stay there again, probably. Will I eat there again, Probably not. Will I request and inside room with no door, you bet especially if it is in the winter.

We were very pleased with our stay at this property. They got us into our room early. The room was very nice...clean. The facilities and staff were great. The kids had a great time in the pool. Overall, it was a great experience.

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by DJRC Memorable for all the WRONG reasons!
This property is under renovation - until work is complete, it is not a suitable place to stay. Bone splitting noise begins at 10 a.m. and continues through 3 p.m. It is not uncommon for travelers to need to sleep during off-hours such as these - if you do, it will not be possible in this hotel. If you are only staying one night and will arrive after 3 p.m. and leave before 10 a.m., you will probably not notice any renovation related problems.
Also, I would highly recommend NOT eating at the hotel restaurant. We had the buffet breakfast, which seemed like a good value at under $10/person, but was really bland and unflavorful. We also got carry-out from the restaurant for dinner - nachos and a french dip sandwich. The sandwich was OK but the nachos tasted odd. The next day, we experienced very unpleasant GI effects from the food we ate there.
Finally, the staff at this property were insincere in their care for guests. When I brought to the attention of the chef that Coffeemate is not the same as half and half, and that it's completely inappropriate for diabetic use, he couldn't have cared less (told me they used it because it had a longer shelf life). When we complained about the noise to the front desk (my husband was ill and needed to sleep during the wrong hours), there was no attempt to make things better - only an offer that we could change rooms. No explanation was made for the failure to let us know about the renovation, and no attempt to make our stay more comfortable was offered.
This is an old tired property. They can change the carpet and repaint, but there's nothing that can help a staff that simply don't give a hoot! As a gold elite member, I can testify to the fact that this is consistently the worst Holiday Inn at which we stay. My best advice is to stay elsewhere until significant changes are made here - far beyond paint and carpet!

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by CTJ777 Room is nice, but...
The rooms are always nice, and it is convenient to stay downtown. However, the metal doors are loud, and the cracks under the doors are ample enough to let in a significant amount of the hallway light. The trash truck arrives early in the morning. I seem to be always awakened by some noise (train whistle, loud people in the hall, slamming doors) every night. Bring some ear plugs. I wasn't too impressed with the breakfast offerings.

I am a business traveler who has stayed at this property before. I was treated very courteously by the hotel staff, who are knowledgeable and helpful in answering my questions. The housekeeping staff are courteous and responsive, and do a great job in cleaning the rooms.
Overall, I very much enjoy staying at this property, and would recommend it to others.

This HI is in the perfect location for those who are looking to walk around the wonderful downtown district! We were able to walk everywhere for quaint shopping, great restaurants, and the beautiful Falls Park. We had a spectacular view of the Parade of Lights from our 5th floor balcony! We could not ask for a more perfect location for our weekend get away!

This hotel is close to everything. It was very easy to walk to the downtown area. Everything was within blocks.
Great breakfast--reasonably priced, but not free.
Front desk staff was wonderful. Pool, exercise room and bar area are very nice. We stayed for a wedding. I would definitely stay here again when in Sioux Falls.

I reserved a balcony room on east end with southern exposure to be able to view the parade about 10 months ago. Upon check-in at 3:30 pm( which is only 30 minutes after earliest check-in availability) I was told only room available was west end or one with northern exposure (which had NO parade view). Since this was important to my grandchildren we did use the room which was a full block away from the parade's route , so although we were able to see it, we needed binoculars to actually SEE it! We tried to eat in the dining room & waited 1 hour & 18 minutes & still did not have ant food & the dining room was FAR from being busy> Grossly disappointing.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Auklucy staff service and Priority Club perks
When I checked in I had forgotten my Priority Club card so the clerk said they'd look it up and add the #. The next day I checked and it hadn't been done so I requested it AGAIN.
Was also disappointed as when I checked in, I wasn't advised of any 'perks' for being a Priority Club member. Before I checked out I asked why they didn't offer anything and was told that I should have been offered a bottle of water at check in.
Disappointed that there was not coffee bar for free coffee/tea plus cookies or some sort of 'treat -- you get that at most hotels and I certainly expected that of this hotel.
Last, the bathroom was VERY small -- no place to even lay my curling iron!
Very unimpressed with the entire experience -- will probably select another hotel for my next visit to Sioux Falls.

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by CPTESTERS Too Much Noise!!
Not only was there a constant noise (after turning off the HVAC unit) but the air quality in the rooms was horrible. It was far too dry and could not regulate the temperature what-so-ever.
The HVAC was so noisy you could not carry on a normal conversation and there was no way to regulate the temperature. Since it was mildly cold outside the heat was on, we tried to set the thermostat to 67 degrees as it was over 73 (felt like 80) but the temperature did not change a bit. The noise coming from the unit was horrendous so we turned it off totally. But that did not eliminate the noise as there was some other part of the HVAC system still running and the noise was coming through the vents. We were lucky to sleep 3 hours out of 9 hours in bed. And by morning we were freezing since we turned the unit off.
There is no way we will stay there again and may not use Holiday Inn again if we do not get a refund!!!!

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by ABCDEF11 five night stay
The first night the air/heat vents made an unbearable
racket as to have to call the front dest for maintenance
to come to the room to fix the noise so we could sleep
in the room. Bathrooms too small and need to be
remodeled to bring them up to new Holiday Inn Express standards. If you are visiting Sioux Falls and renting a
car, parking can be a problem, especially in bad weather.
Desk staff was excellent. Cheerful attitude, helpful with
directions, and well dressed. Remodeling is defiantly
needed and will greatly enhance their guest's experience.
Banquet and meeting room superior.

The room was extremely warm, was not able to get the temperature under 80 degrees both nights. Had lunch in the restaurant one day. Food was way over done, they offered to remake and it came out the same. But over all it is a nice place to stay.

The room wasn't ready when at check in so I waited fifteen minutes and watched the front desk hand put three other rooms immediately after I tried to check in. I was late to the wedding I was attending in Sioux Falls because of your hotel chain and unspeakably rude staff. I will never patronize this hotel again. This holiday inn was a huge waste of money.

I asked for a room away from elevator and ice machine in my reservation and my room was right across from two elevator and the ice machine. This was the worst holiday inn I have stayed at
The only good thing was it was close to the falls.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Alnshel Good stay
It was a good stay for an older motel that could use some renovation. We had a King suite with a balcony and there was moisture on the door frame. I'd hate to be there in the dead of winter. Most Holiday Inn suites have a fridge and microwave, this one didn't. Other then that the stay was good. Staff was friendly and helpful.
