Suggest adding some sidewalk so that guests can walk over to the neighboring Foleys restaurant in the winter without having to walk a block south and then a half block across restaurant parking lot to get to restaurant entrance. Seems to me that better access would benefit both establishments. December 22, 2013

I don't even look for other hotels, because I know the stay will be what I both want and expect. It doesn't hurt that Foley's is right next door - one of the finest restaurants in the country - complete with a great bar and wonderful wine list. One little negative... The young lady at the front desk decided to debate my reservations with me, which was annoying. My business associate said to me as we left the front desk area that her management should remind her that the customer is always right. December 14, 2013

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Unacceptable! Let me start with .....The hotel itself was fine, nice rooms, comfortable beds etc.... We were there as a group had 30+rooms (kids basketball tournament ) rented in this hotel for both Friday and Saturday nights ...Friday all were arriving at different times so all were watching for their friends to arrive ....the kids were told they could not wait in the lobby ? Hmmm there is a very large open room with several couches , chairs and a TV, but they were not allowed there?! Adults standing in the hallway talking at 9pm and we were told to go to a room or common area, but yet when we went to common area we were told it was "closed" until breakfast. Saturday afternoon we came back from a game and wanted to watch the film to teach the kids, manger let us use the breakfast area TV and was no problem. 3 hours later after another game we were looking to do the same ....we were told the breakfast room was closed , as she proceeded to turn the light off in the room and that no common area in the hotel was useable to us , except the banquet room we would have to reserve for a $200 fee! Very rudely might I add! So games are over we did rent banquet room for eveing. ...pizza was purchased on way back to hotel and at this time we were told we couldn't have food in the "banquet" room???!! They did let us use the breakfast area at this point when more than 1 parent complained.... My suggestion is to caiter to your clientele .....we were not there to cause a problem but did not understand why so much resistance from the management to use the amentities ! December 4, 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 great hotel, bad experience I reserved a room with one queen bed and was pleasantly surprised with an upgrade to a room with a king bed, pull out sofa sleeper and kitchenette. The room was beautiful, clean and spacious. we slept well in the comfy bed until the fire alarm went off at about 4:45 am. We rushed outside and waited in the cold for about an hour until we could go back inside. I don't blame holiday inn for this unfortunate experience, but we were never offered an explanation, apology, or any type of compensation for the inconvenience. Otherwise I was thoroughly impressed. Breakfast was nice also. Too bad the main reason for the stay was to get a break from sleepless nights while staying with friends for Thanksgiving. December 3, 2013

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Not your usual Holiday Inn Express Seemed old and dirty. We got put into a handicap room. Okay but the shower head had to hang on the rails in the shower. It would not stay in place to shower. The spray hit you in the belly. Told desk about it. Oh well. November 18, 2013
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Employee smoking room! It was late when we arrived so too exhausted to complain, but when we entered the room it was freezing inside. Why? well the window was wide open. My guess is it was the room the employees use to smoke in when it's freezing outside. It took the heater hours to warm it up. Would not stay here again. November 16, 2013

I just wish breakfast had a few more healthy options since we were there for a Nike cross country running event on Sunday morning. All in all a very nice stay! November 13, 2013

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Thank You - Mendez Family This Holiday Inn has been our preference for three years. We live I Rapid City and this business has helped us through two high-risk pregnancies. Each time we were able to stay, without incident. We had to take her to medical appointments throughout both pregnancies, at least once a month and more. We also stayed at this HI the week of each delivery. We especially like the cookies and afternoon snacks when we returned from a long day at the hospital. This most recent 5 night stay in room 328, we left a very important book in the bottom drawer of a dresser. Jackie went out of her way to located the book and we can't wait to get it in the mail. I am working on my Doctorate degree and the use of the business office frequently was very helpful. While I brought my own laptop, having a desktop, printer, hole punch and such made studying at the hotel worth it. The only suggestions I have are 1) consider labeling the foods in the breakfast area for gluten, nuts, etc. and 2) invest in a better internet service or connections. When I was in my room, I kept losing my internet connection, so I called my cellular company to purchase a $30 hot-spot for my cell phone and didn't have a problem once. I can live with #1, but #2 has to be frustrating for me and every other guest. Again, thank you very much and please tell Jackie thank you as well. October 21, 2013

We arrived late but were greeted with a friendly smile and a surprise... they upgraded our room and we were each given complimentary beverage of our choice, Great surprise!! The breakfast was great, so many choices that we do not find at your competitor hotels. Beds were very very comfortable. Will stay again if in the area. October 18, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Mini Honeymoon My husband and I stayed here for a one night, mini-honeymoon after our wedding October 12. We had stopped at a few hotels, as this was an impromptu trip. When we got to the Holiday Inn, we were both overwhelmed by the friendliness of the front desk staff & how quickly they were able to accommodate us. Our room was spotless, the bed was comfortable and the pillows were AMAZING. This hotel is perfectly located because it's close to the mall, movie theater, and many great restaurants but manages to be quiet. My only disappointment was having to leave & go back to work! Word of warning though, don't be fooled when they say that they are at the Empire Mall in Sioux Falls. There are several motels that I would consider are at the Empire Mall but this Holiday Inn Express is actually on the other side of 41th Street and tucked back into a quieter area which is not all bad. Would look to stay here again! My only suggestion would be to somehow heat the indoor pool. burrrr! Sioux Falls is a beautiful town! The Big Sioux River Falls is a must for sightseers! The staff was so friendly and accommodating to us. The breakfast was excellent and we loved the location - so easy to access eating places and shopping. We will definitely be staying here again!
