Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by No parking and noisy This was a standard Holiday Inn Express but disappointing that there was insufficient parking on site and I had to park at the station and walk back in the pouring rain. Also very close to railway line and was woken at 4am by the trains March 30, 2015
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Just too much inconvenience Standard and fairly well run Express with the following downsides: Carpark is far too small for the size of the hotel. If you can get a space at the railway station car park next door that's another £11.40. If you are allocated a room next to the railway tracks you're really are going to notice the noise. There are ear plugs in the room but they don't go to the expense of fitting suitable levels of glazing to fix the problem. Earplugs in a hotel room = we recognize there's a problem but we are going to do the minimum to resolve it. March 30, 2015
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Terrible bed and noisy hotel This hotel is extremely convenient for a business trip to Slough arriving by train as it is right next to the station. Sadly I think that contributes to the high level of noise from outside, from which my room was poorly insulated, meaning a very disturbed night. This was exacerbated as the box of earplugs left next to the bed in recognition of this problem was actually empty! Having checked in late and only discovering this after midnight, with an early start the next day I didn't go down to reception in search of more earplugs! Sadly things got worse as the actual mattress felt like a bag of rocks - a weird mix of unsupportive, lumpy, yet not firm! Overall it added up to a terrible night's sleep, the basic of any budget hotel which sadly detracted from the excellent location, competitive pricing, friendly staff and clean and attractive facilities. Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Comfortable, clean and functional room. The approach through a built up, high rise area is not the best and the huge amount of cars parked on the verges greets you. The car parking is terrible. Only 28 spaces for a big hotel. Some spaces taken by large vans! Had to park in nearby railway station for 2 nights which cost an arm and a leg. Reception area and staff were a shining light at this hotel in what was not a pleasurable visit. The rooms are comfortable, functional and clean. My room also had the spare bed (put you up) made up which meant I did not have a sofa. I was the only person in a room set up for 4 people. The pillows are marked with "firm" and "soft" but were all the same, hard. The noise from the main railway line was incredible, intercity 125 trains whizzing past. Not a lot the hotel can do about this, but should have considered this when building the hotel in this area. Would I return, no. A bad decision by IHG to be here. March 21, 2015
