I was using my reward points as a Platinum member by reserving two rooms on March 16th for an overnight stay on May 18th. The hotel was called the day before and we were assured the rooms would either be adjacent or across from each other. This was critical as my wife’s 80 year old parents were to be in the next room. Upon arrival, we discovered that we were assigned a room on the second floor while they were assigned one on the first floor on the completely opposite side of the hotel. The front desk person was condescending and rude when we voiced our objections. He recommended we call IHG because his hands were tied and could not offer anything else to accommodate us. I told him we made the reservations 2 months in advance but he said nothing could be done. Essentially we were told because we were using points, we get what we get. If we want a suite, that would be more points. Later, my wife confronted him and he did apologize and added 1000 point to my account but this definitely did not alleviate the stress my wife felt having her parents on the complete opposite side of the hotel. It is truly hard to believe that having made the reservations 2 months in advance, nothing could be done.

Tried to charge $10.00 above my reserved amount because it was a Friday night stay. Reserved a King room, but they gave me a double and told me a King would be an additional charge.

My wife, my mother, and my sister traveled over 800 miles to attend a baby shower. The staff welcomed us and our rooms were ready for us. Outside the wind blew, the rain fell, and on a May Sunday morning snow flakes filled the air. We enjoyed two nights sleep and would recommend a stay in Somerset to include a stay at the Holiday Inn Express.
