Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Uncomfortable bed and loud appliances This was the worse experience at this chain. My curtains wouldn't close all the way and the street light was shining in my room all nihy. The bed was very uncomfortable and the shower curtain had a creepy dark red stain on it. I'm a light sleeper do the worst part was the loud humming coming that kept me up all night my first night. The second night it started again and I asked the front desk if I could move rooms, he insisted no other guests complained about the noise. He went to my room and we troubleshooted that it was the refrigerator going bad. He unplugged it and that was that, November 6, 2013

Everything is old.. musty.. tiny weight room, the printer at this place hasn't worked in months.. The computers barely work.. old carpets.. Paper thin comforter on the bed. Can't recommend this place. The brand as a whole needs a new image but this location is especially poor. October 6, 2013

Once I plugged it into the wall though it worked great. Also it was nice to find an Ethernet cable provided so I could do that. Everything else was great. I really enjoyed the room and staff. Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Good but not exemplary The staff were friendly and the location is ideal. The room was clean but the bed was very uncomfortable, very stiff. There were a few minor issues but still worthy of mentioning. The ice maker on my floor did not work, the phones in the room would not dial thru to the front desk, I had to go down to the lobby to ask where else I could get ice since the machine was not working on my floor. The breakfast the next morning was a typical continental breakfast but the orange juice was so watered down it did not even taste like orange juice. Flat screen TV in the room And the mattress was divine and the pillows were so awesome that i want to buy those for my family Bathroom was wonderful and the water pressure in the shower was unlike no other. We especially enjoy the free Breakfast. However, guests can walk to restaurants if you don't arise early enough for breakfast. This hotel is clean, fresh, quiet and very convenient to major highways and local business. We were disappointed on one trip when they were booked solid and we had to go to downtown. August 16, 2013
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by They don't actually turn pool heater on!!! Hotel was very nice with kind staff and clean rooms. But one of the main reasons we went to this particular hotel was because the website said it had a heated indoor pool and hot tub. There was no hot tub and upon arrival the receptionist informed us they don't turn on the pool heater in the summer! She offered to find us another Holiday Inn but when you are there with your family and luggage you don't want to fight about it. My 5 yr old will swim an any pool, no matter what, this pool was like ice. No one could stand it. The place was deserted. Extremely disappointed since we paid an extremely high price just to have a nice hotel with a pool. We could have stayed at a different hotel and saved ourselves $50 considering the pool was absolutely unusable. August 8, 2013
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Disappointed I have stayed at this motel several times over the years often times getting 2 rooms. This by far was the worse stay. The rooms were dirty. The pool was so cold you couldnt even swim in it. One of the employees commented the pool is a little cold we haven't heated it since winter. I don't believe it was heated during the winter. I checked out the motel up the road that had an out door pool and it was warmer that the HIE.My children were so excited when I told them we were going to WV and staying at our favorite motel only to be extremely disappointed once we got there. We will certainly find somewhere else to stay on our next trip. July 12, 2013
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by The last room in Charleston This was my first visit to this hotel although I travel to Charleston, WV very often for work. On this occassion, there was a communication error and my hotel reservation was not made before I arrived and so my assistant found this room at this hotel while almost all other hotels were booked that week. This hotel is located in Southridge, which was referred to as the business district in Charleston which basically meant it was in the suberbs with a bunch of chain restaurants and box stores next to it. The only room the hotel had available was a smoking room but they assured my assistant that they use extra air filters and that non-smokers feel comfortable there as well. When I arrived, I noticed my room had a strong smoke odor and the front desk clerk offered me some "spray" to cover up the smell but that seemed a fruitless notion. You could tell the hotel was not the newest but the room had been remodeled. It was a large room, a suite and there was a king bed, a couch, and a sink, microwave and very smalll and old mini-fridge. There was also a whilpool tub in the bathroom and it needed some work on the caulking around the tub and tile. Why I chose to rate this so poorly was the fact that there was a ring of pink staining in the toilet that they never cleaned up (could be there permanently but that certainly does make the point that cleanliness is not the top priority as that would not be there if they cleaned the toilet regularly) and I found used cigarette butts in the trash can in the room the next morning. I spend about 75% of my time traveling and staying in hotels, many of them Holliday Inn Expresses and I've never experienced that from a Holliday Inn Express. I did complain about the cigarette butts and the toilet and the trash was emptied, but the toilet continued to look unclean. If this had not been the last hotel room available in the city, I would definitely not have stayed here. In fact, I did try to find another hotel room and not even stay one night after checking in. I would definitely not stay here again on future visits. July 11, 2013

However, my husband fell ill, and the staff was VERY helpful to me in finding a doctor to take him to, and also the nearest pharmacy. They checked on us several times to make sure if we needed anything. That kind of service goes a LONG way in my book!! :) July 5, 2013

Need to reteach how to clean rooms and how to vacuum or at that even finish clean the room not just bathroom or take towels and not clean anything plus not give any towels back????? Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Disappointing In comparison with other HIE Reward Nights, this hotel seemed to be lacking. It's location was over 4 miles from the Interstate. We were offered a bottle of water but no other amenities. The pool was closed. The scrambled egg pan was empty and no one seemed to be in charge of breakfast. It was quiet. May 15, 2013

They have gone out of their way to help me on several occasions, but they never managed to get my reserved parking sign out front. Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by No Pool The pool is shut down and has been for over 1 year's time.This is not abundantly clear on the website. Holiday Inn should either take down the pretty pictures of the sparkling pool or they should put a water mark on the pictures. The room was only surface cleaned when we arrived. The maids had not cleaned under the bed skirts (found ladybugs# or under the tables #found discarded drink cups) Staff were very polite, apologetic and tried to make up for the problems at the hotel This is not up to my expectations for a Holiday Inn.
