Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Value We stayed two nights. Nice newer hotel. Room felt clean and nice. Staff was friendly. Had to call an 800 # to get my wi-fi connected but it was easy. Wi-fi worked well in my room. Breakfast was great. I was surprised that there were so many choices. Would definitely stay here again. Walking distance to shops and restaurants. The only thing I didn't like was that the doors to the rooms were outside so you have to walk in the cold for breakfast because they have separate buildings for rooms and the office/lobby area. It was fine though. Felt it was a great value compared to the fancy hotels in this area. I paid less then half of what those hotels cost which allowed for us to do more activities. Plus no parking fees here unlike the other hotels!!!! April 1, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by I will return on my next trip to South Lake Tahoe Great place and great value! Rooms were very clean and I had a very positive experience. I stayed at some very average hotels in the area before and I regret not staying at this hotel sooner. March 31, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great place to stay We stayed here in mid-March for a weekend of skiing at the nearby ski areas. The HI Express is nice, clean, and quiet - despite being only a couple of minutes walk from the restaurants, bars, and casinos. The room was equipped with a fridge, a microwave, and a coffee maker, so people staying for longer than a couple of days have the amenities to have food without having to eat out every night (also good if you have kids and you can give them a microwave snack). The complimentary breakfast is good and a nice start to the day. If you're skiing and want to go to Heavenly, the gondola is just a couple of minutes walk away from the hotel. (The gondola station has lockers for rent, so you don't have to walk there in your ski boots - as I saw some people doing). All in all, a nice place to stay and somewhere that I would definitely recommend. March 22, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by good value..great spa room nice size spa/fireplace room to relax in after a night out..quiet area..great service..crowded breakfast area on the weekends...actually can say the room was better than our suite at harrahs...thanks March 9, 2013
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Great service Horrible beds I was truly disappointed in my stay at South Lake Tahoe. I have stayed at many Holiday Inn Expresses but this was the biggest disappointment. I realize this is a tourist resort area but why did I have to pay double for less? The day before,I was in another location with bigger rooms and 2 comfortable queen size beds and paid considerably less. Here, we had 2 double beds with mattresses that felt like waterbeds, they had so much motion! With the hotel following the outdoorsy theme everything was open; you walked outside, into a cold elevator, onto a balcony to your room. This might be nice in the summer, but during the winter I find it inconvenient and cold! Speaking of cold, who wants to leave a sauna/spa and walk out into the freezing air, onto the cold elevator to get to their room? So again,I paid more for less with a pool and sauna we couldn't use. If I'm In South Lake Tahoe again I will probably look for an enclosed hotel with amenities I can use. In the previous hotel, we received a goodie bag in recognition of being a Priority Club Member, not here. Also ,there wasn't a computer available for clients to use in private, although Wi-Fi was everywhere! As far as customer service,I must say the staff was very good. They did make you feel welcome. A service request was taken care of immediately The repair man also cleaned up after himself. After a long drive across the state and through the mountains,I really needed a place to relax. It didn't happen here. March 7, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Standard of Comfort: Excellent Appreciated the location and convenience of this hotel in the heart of South Lake Tahoe. February 14, 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Nice room but no view I felt the hotel was over priced compared with other hotels. I haved stayed in some wonderful places for quite a bit less. I was a little disappointed with the price after I saw the room. No indoor pool and the sauna/ whirlpool was not great. February 6, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great location and most of all the Holiday Inn flag. IN a place where mom and pop hotels dominate, the HI flag was a welcome. sight. True to nature this hotel was neat, clean and offered all the services you would expect from a national brand. The sauna was a great perc. The staff was always there to assist. Next time in Tahoe, there is no question I will be staying here. Thanks. January 27, 2013
