Between the location and the staff, we had a wonderful experience at this hotel. It is the second time we have stayed there. Clean comfortable spacious rooms with great housekeeping. Even at breakfast, the staff was attentive clearing our dishes, refilling beverages, and preparing pancakes. We got the feeling that we were staying at a more expensive upscale hotel. All of the staff were personable and helpful. Location was great with nearby beaches, excellent seafood restaurants, and a remarkable bird sanctuary across the road & turtle rescue station. Our daughter got married on the Island this trip and our new relatives have been coming to South Padre Island for many years & have a condo on it. We are sure there will be future trips to this destination in our future and we will book our stay at this Holiday Inn Express.

Hotel is in an excellent place to relax. $6 taxi ride anywhere on the island so it is nice that it is not in the middle of everything. Swimming pool was nice but would be better if it had been heated. Cleaning service was excellent. Front desk staff was helpful.

We arrived a day early for checking in to our resort time share exchange week on the island, so a night at HIE was required. The facility was clean and attractive, with the usual amenities. The one odd note that was struck was that our Priority Club welcome package included one bottle of water and a bag of cookies. We did not care about the cookies one way or the other, but there are four of us - me, my wife and two young boys - and we have always been given a bottle of water each on prior check-ins, even before I held Platinum status.
Other than that, the visit was terrific. At breakfast, our table was bused twice while we still dining. This was a new experience. Then we were offered coffee refills at the table! The breakfast service staff were superb, on every level.

This is my second year staying here. The staff was VERY hospitable, rooms and hotel were very clean and the breakfast was great. Can't say enough about the staff and how pleasant they are!! Definitely will make this my go-to place to stay in SPI.

Our fourth year staying here, always easy to check in, staff treat you like family and always a joy to see them and give them a hug or shake there hand as we meet them. The Hotel is located close to the beach and also to the convention center and the Birding center where there is always something going on.
The breakfast is very good with a variety of cereals and bagels and juices and breads with eggs, sausage or bacon ,biscuits, coffee, tea, hot choc., and on and on and on.
The weekends usually have something going on to keep you entertained, the guests that stay there are friendly and enjoy
the atmosphere of this hotel. I recommend this Hotel to all who
ask me how I like my stay.
Thanks to the Great Management and Great Staff for that.
