Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Reception on arrival Receptionist gave us the worst arrival experience at this Hotel that we had received. She was arrogant in the way she spoke to me, which I did not appreciate this after my long trip through France. We had previously used this hotel and been treated a lot better. I had amended my booking on line adding two extra people, but the sofa bed was not made up ready. When informed, your receptionist asked if I would like the bed made up, which I would have thought would been quite obvious. The lady who came to make up the bed was very obliging and pleasant. I complained to the the duty receptionist (different lady) the next day on check out, she appolgised, but did not offer any reduction in the bill. My next visit to Sothampton is soon, but I will be staying at another Hotel. May 12, 2013
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Will not stay again The staff on arrival were very poor at customer service including the duty manager. I was taken aback by them wanting to pre authorise my card for £50 although i had paid in full 2 days earlier(this needs to be added to booking information). This has never happened at any HIE i have stayed at before. No Recognition for Priority Club Members Our room (#160 on 1st floor) was functional but very small (for 3 adults) compared to some of the others we saw on our floor, as we walked past... We did however, like that it was in the newer block and right on the very end so it was quiet... There are signs up everywhere to "Beat the queues for Breakfast between 9 - 10am" so we got down there @ 7:30am and couldn't get a table or anywhere near to the buffet - All the other guests must have had the same idea ! We don't think that the buffet area is anywhere near big enough for the number of tables and potential guests. We grabbed some coffee from off the bar and waited for an available table. Then when we eventually did reach the hot food - it ran out & it took them ages to refill ! We will not be returning to this HIE... May 11, 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Ok nothing fantastic We only stayed in the hotel for 1 night, the beds were reasonable but the shower was just about Luke warm not what we would expect from a hotel in the UK. The breakfast was like help yourself school dinners, a free for all and only warm. There wasn't any bacon and the sausages were vile. Disappointing would have to be a bargain to return. May 11, 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by OK Hotel but terrible recognition of Priority club members I stayed for 3 nights on business. The hotel is well situated just off the M27 East bound. There's not much nearby and your probably looking at a 10 minute walk to McDonalds or other fast food places. It is a clean hotel and the rooms are spacious. The lobby area is bright with a bar/restaurant off set to the side. Food is ok but nothing special....don't expect your steak to be cooked other than well done! No real facilities and internet at £10 for 24 hrs for me is just stealing! The real area of concern for this hotel is their lack of service towards Priority club members, they simply do not care. I can only echo recent comments made by others. How is it I have to have my card swiped? They have it on system as a frequent user of this hotel chain and I never, thats never have to give them my card. Quite clearly respect of their so called priority club members is an issue for this hotel and I have raised my opinion directly with IHG. As a Plat Royal Ambassador this has to be the worst hotel for doing anything for its so called valued customers. I am not asking for the red carpet but some recognition would be nice for all the money and loyalty I bring to IHG. The management clearly do not emphasize the importance of priority members to their staff and I would describe their service no better than travelodge, i.e. quick check in quick check out! I would recommend this hotel if you want a clean, comfortable place to stay. However, for Priority club members this place is awful, no recognition whatsoever not even a welcome letter! I will not stay here ever again. May 11, 2013

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Pleasant stay We have stayed at this hotel several times as we have family nearby. The rooms are always spotlessly clean, the bed comfortable, it is not noisy and therefore we get a good nights sleep. We haven't had an evening meal, but the breakfast is good, plenty of it and the addition of a small hot selection enhances it. Staff are friendly. And it really is value for money when compared with other similar chains. May 7, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Short 2 night stay Very nice stay, I had reason to email before our stay and on checkin I didn't even need to mention my query as they had obviously made note of it. We had a split stay so 2 different nights and 2 rooms. Both nights our request for quiet rooms were honoured and the rooms were very good. The breakfast selection was good especially as it is included in the price. They did warn us that our Sunday morning bank holiday breakfast may be busy, but we still managed to get seated straight away and no queues for anything. I think for a base to stay this is very good hotel, if you want spas, upgrades and a la carte don't book into a hotel that can't give you that! Good value stay overall. May 7, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Hotel Saviour On a recent visit to our usual Holiday Inn Express hotel at Southampton we had a disaster... NO ....not the hotel ....our holiday. I ended up in hospital after one night and my husband had to stay at the hotel on his own. When our break finished I was still in hospital, but the hotel arranged for my husband to stay on in the same room. We always have the same room when we travel down from the North, at our age you get used to routine. We come down at least once a year, sometimes twice to see family. This year was different alright.... but the hotel staff took good care of my husband. We love this hotel... so convenient to the town centre and all the shops, and close to family and friends. The breakfasts are great. The rooms are light and comfortable, ok not home, but cosy all the same. The staff are good and if you have a problem they are very helpful. May 6, 2013
