The hotel was ideally placed for a stay the night before our cruise from Southampton. We were able to get a reasonably priced evening meal at the hotel to save us going out. We were allocated a ground floor room which we had asked for when booking so it was good to learn people do take notice of requests!
A very pleasant modern hotel in a good position.

Without exceptions very friendly staff members. Slept well in a nice and neat room including shower and toilet. Good choice of breakfast at the time required (5.00 am...). Even two types of pillows to choose from.

On the whole the hotel was very nice, but.....I really do find the beds totally uncomfortable and not easy to sleep in, you bounce around every time your wife moves (obviously not yours but mine) and fall into her if she moves near you...! So a nicer bed would be gratefully pleasing to sleep in.......oh and the chairs are standard fair throughout the hotel world....nicer ones would be great to. Good hotel though despite the moan....:)

Booked this hotel just for a weekend break, room was ok, bed was really comfy, food was ok. The only let down really was other guests having a domestic at 2am, but that's not the hotels fault. It was just a cheap relaxing weekend to get my husband away from work

What a great team they are at this hotel, one I have used several times and will be back there shortly. Its especially good to see a choice of bacon on the breakfast menu as not every one eats sausages ,,,well done wish more of your sites would also provide this as an option.........its not difficult.

Couldn't fault the hotel or its staff but there were two minor issues....firstly i found the mattress to be to soft for my liking but more annoying is the fact the maid wanted to try and clean the room at 0800 when the family were still a sleep!!!

when the hotel is full parking is a problem, also there is a long wait for breakfast, i think they are a victim of there own sucess as the design for the breakfast bar is to small so no where to expand. but stayed there alot over the years and would still use again

The hotel was easy to get to. It is within walking distance of fast food restaurants/shopping at Hedge End.
It was a short drive to the university to meet my son.
Hotel was very busy and this held up breakfast Monday morning so one of staff went on "toast duty" to speed things up.
Staff polite and professional.
Car park can't cope with a full hotel.

Arrived early but room was ready so were allowed access. We appreciated that, Clean and comfortable, slept very well.
Lousy breakfast, cheap items with no taste, could improve. Would not put us off going again.

Have to admit we stayed here only because all other hotels were full (half term and south run week). I felt it was expensive for the room quality. All rooms were shower only, none with bath option (which I would have taken due to a back problem), they were clean though with adequate towels. Staff were very good (particularly those involved in maintaining/clearing breakfast). A good choice of food too.
At 29Gbp (the 'from' price advertised on the website) it would have been good value, but 70+Gbp is too much. For those paying that sort of money maybe 'sweeteners' such as free internet should have been included (also an expensive extra). The sort of rooms you really only want to stay one night in

This is the third time we have stayed at this hotel. excellent value for the money. the staff were great and the rooms where clear and tidy, as you would exspect.

Comfortable bed and very good service. This is our second stay.
We preferred our earlier room as tv was easier to see/hear (twin beds) were on right side of room as you come in and tv on left. The only thing we noticed in last room (double bed with sofa bed) was ventilation didn't seem so good and as it was a little chilly we tried to put on radiator which didn't respond. Corridor also seemed a little stuffy. Apart from that, we enjoyed our stay.

I stayed here in October 2012 with my wife and some friends as we were visiting a theme park in the area the next day. The rooms were clean, modern and comfortable. Breakfast was a reasonable selection (not sure why they had no bacon but two trays of sausages) and for the price the hotel was good value. The only negative was a complete lack of phone / GPS availability in the hotel, so had to walk outside to get any signal. Overall a nice stay and good value.

The most unhelpful staff I have come across in years. Having used Holiday Inn properties exclusively for as long as I can remember, I arrived at 11.30pm tired and ready for sleep before another long day.
Check in staff seemed unable to carry out basic tasks or interact with me, happy to stand staring at screen while I waited for somebody to talk to me. Having waited for 10 minutes, the duty manager eventually arrived to tell me that my booking was for two nights previously. I could spend ages argueing otherwise however, that is not the cause of my complaint.
I take issue with the way in which the staff dealt with it: as mentioned most just ignored me when I arrived and the duty manager appeared out of his depth. The hotel was full and so I was told was another property on the other side of Southampton - however I was able to book a room through the Holiday Inn website, so perhaps not full after all.
I waas so fed up with the way this issue had been handled, I did not complete the booking, instead voting with my feet and opting for an alternate hotel chain a couple of miles away at Southamption Airport.
The parting words from the duty manager at this property: 'we hope to see you soon' - not a chance, further visits to Southampton will see may make a beeline elsewhere with staff who understand how to interact with customers!

We have been staying at this hotel for quite some time now and can honestly say that each time we visit there is something new to enjoy. This time it was the improved dining menu. On the last occasion it was the improved TV programing. The staff are always bright welcoming and cheerful. The rooms are immaculately kept. It is an absolute pleasure to stay there.

Having arrived on the 9-30pm ferry from France,it was great to only drive 15mins to this Hotel just off the M27,have a great nights sleep in a very well appointed room and after a hearty breakfast,get up the road to the north west.We will definately be staying here again.

As this is a new hotel, it was very clean and up to date. There we quite a few of us there for a trade show and none of us had any phone service which does not bode well for a business stay. The rooms were clean, bed was uncomfortable and the dinner selection was small and on the expensive side for what you get. I would only stay there again if there were no other options or at least eat off premises.

We found the hotel to be well located, the rooms and decor appeared relatively new and clean. We took our own travel cot and toddler bed for our 2 children which fitted perfectly next to our double bed, even though the room had been prepared with a pull out sofa bed for our children as well . Rooms were clean and comfortable. We didnt stay for breakfast as there was a huge queue of approximately 20 people or more but other than that it was ideally located for getting to Paultons Park, peppa pig world or Southampton vicinity. I would recommend this hotel.

Often stay in this hotel on our way to Swansea from france. Were disappointed in the bed this time. Spent the night trying to climb back out of the middle! I think the beds definitely need renewing. Will book a room with two single beds next time. However evrything else was fine; good breakfast, clean room and friendly staff.

Nice clean rooms and helpful staff. However having to pay for internet is in my opinion outdated especially when the internet access is so slow. The lack of room service and cost vs quality of the food is also an annoyance and would drive me to choose an alternative.
Overall not a bad place to lay your head but not a great place to stay for longer term business trips.
