stayed here whilst visiting peppa pig world with our two young children, could not thought the helpful staff and the overall stay at the hotel, the variety of food on display at breakfast was more than anyone could desire, will definately be returning here when we revisit ppw later in the year for our boys birthday, many thanks to all that made are stay memorable

I think staff need to be trained on how to deal with a tired customer who was hoping to be greeted by a competent and professional personnel, not one who just ignored him... and is rude.

a very good Holiday Inn. Rooms very nice and clean. A big bar/restaurant area with good service.
Breakfast nice but could do with a big more variety on fresh fruit and also a larger choice for hot items.
Overall I would recommend this hotel

Stayed here when visiting Portsmouth. Ideally situated for Portsmouth and Southampton Docks. Clean / comfortable rooms with a good breakfast.

This is a very nice hotel, the room is comfortable for 2, somewhat crowded for 3 and we were 3. Not much space for 3 pieces of luggage and desk access was difficult as it was blocked by the 3rd couch/bed being open. That being said the stay was still very nice, the staff was helpful in finding directions to some local places not easily specified on the Sat Nav. The weather was hot so AC in the room was wonderful. Apparently some rooms did not have AC so you better check ion its availability. Breakfast had very many nice choices and free parking is always a plus. The Wi-Fi connection was reasonably fast.

The hotel was extremely busy during our stay, but overall the staff seemed to cope very well.
Breakfast seemed to run out of bacon quite early in the morning, but apart from that was good, with a varied selection available. Dinner menu selection was a bit limited, but the food we did have was good, and was served quickly.
The room was well appointed, spacious and very clean.
My only minor complaint was corridor noise which affected sleep quality. The soundproofing between room and corridor could be improved, but so could the volume of some guests!

Excellent service from staff, and room was very comfortable and clean. Bar is reasonably priced although not a great selection, and was seriously understaffed on the Thursday night that we stayed.
Breakfast choice was excellent, but would advise others to get in early on Saturday mornings as there was quite a queue (presumably as most people eager to check-out). Only two issues: the aircon in the room kept turning itself on in the middle of the night (it's centrally controlled apparently), and the wifi speed was so slow that my phone couldn't detect the internet once connected to the network. Also be aware that mobile phone reception is quite poor, although this is probably not HIE's fault ;-)
My sister had a small issue on checkout as she was being charged more for her stay than previously advised, but once she produced her confirmation email (with the lower rate) the reception staff were quick to resolve this.

This is a good hotel. We have stayed here a couple of times in a family room whilst visiting Peppa Pig World nearby. The food is good and the rooms are clean and spacious. My only negative comment would be about ordering dinner in the evenings. We had to ask for a children's menu (it wasn't on the table), and then you have to order at the bar which took quite a long time. Plus the food is not that cheap. It's £5 for a children's pasta without drink or ice cream or anything. Adult mains are around the £10+.
Other than that great.

Holiday Inn Express SOUTHAMPTON M27, JCT.7
For the purpose of my review bias, for the last 12 years I have stayed approximately 60-70 nights a year in the Intercontinental / Holiday Inn Group chain.
Date of stay 24-25th June 2014
My ongoing experience of the hotel is as follows:
1) Arrival was straightforward using the Sat Nav (TOM TOM) instructions
2) On arrival at the hotel the check in staff (Martina) was extremely pleasant and friendly. I received access to the free wifi and choice of a 200-priority points voucher or alternatively if you wish you may choose the option of a free drink at the bar instead.
3) All area’s including the bedrooms were always well kept, tidy and clean.
4) My room (room 156) was clean and well maintained ( See the photos)
5) There is a large free car park which surrounds the hotel, which at times became very busy indeed with guest circling round to find a spot.
6) This is a quite large hotel in comparison to other Holiday Inn express’s but despite the hard foot print by many guests the hotel was in impeccable condition
7) The quality of the breakfast was great for a Holiday Inn Express as it contained bacon in addition to the standard normal offerings of pastries, toast, fresh fruit, sausage ( even the sausage was above the normal standard of the brand), beans and powdered egg, yoghurts, and cereals. Tea and coffee are served from Holiday Inn Express style vending machine.
8) I did not use the evening meal service.
9) Location, The hotel is located just off the M27 which was ideally located for my visit
10) Check out, was straight forward and hassle free
In summary the hotel scores 8/10 for a rather good branded Holiday Inn Express.

Room was pleasant and tidy , but T.V is far too small to view from across the room , Channels are limited . Dinner was average but done well . Breakfast was terrible , only scrambled, egg no fried . Sausages were tasteless and split open . Bar service was good .

Hotel in good location and rooms (as I expected from a Holiday Inn) are modern, clean and comfortable.
Food was also good in the restaurant in the evening... Breakfast was good with a variety of options.
Only slight negatives, room was a little too warm ( no air-con) and hotel doesn't have a gym... Although located in a nice area to go for a run!
Attention and service from all staff was very professional and welcoming... Will stay again.

Really clean hotel with friendly helpful staff. Beds very comfortable and rooms spacious.
Free Wifi was slow and sometimes did not work at all. Mobile signal for EE was poor.
As we had a 1 year old baby a bath would have been better than a shower for us.

The accommodation was excellent, the food was good.
Booking in needs to be changed - unfortunately the man was not English so difficult to understand - did not give us a key number to leave the hotel. I know you have extended the hotel but have not extended the buffet facilities. Two coffee machines were not working efficiently. Milk was provided by separate containers. Hope you read this review would not like to see the hotel close

Stayed at the hotel on Saturday 21st June for the second time. The holiday inn express is a fantastic hotel. The staff, room and lounge area are perfect. We love the complimentary breakfast too! All in all a great stay, looking forward to the next weekend stop over.

Very disappointing, I left my phone charger in the room and didn't get to return to the room to collect it as my meeting over-ran and I had to go to the airport when I emailed the hotel to claim it and have it returned they stated that it wasn't found. I will never stay here again.

When we arrived at our room we noticed a small puddle around the
toilet pedestal, but thought it may have been down to it being cleaned before arrival and hadn't dried properly. However when we returned to the room 3 hours later to get our 2 small children ready for bed, we found that the water on the floor was considerably worst and was rather a large puddle which resulted in our 2 year old daughter slipping on the tiled ceramic floor. We called to reception to inform them the toilet was leaking by now the time was 8pm and
we were wanting to shower them and put the children to bed. A staff member came to the room and said there was no one there over the weekend to fix it as the maintenance team do not work weekends, and that he would mop it up and see if we could change rooms. He returned 25 mins later he said no rooms were available so he would clean it up as best he could before disappearing again to get towels etc. On his return a further 15 mins on he managed to tighten a screw and hope he'd stopped the leak and left towels around the floor incase it was still leaking. Unfortunately for us our children were over an hour late for there bed, overtired and we still needed to wash them and settle them. the leak was still there the following day, on our return in the evening the cleaners had been in and all the towels had been removed but the leak was not fixed, there was water all over the floor again, we mopped it up ourselves as we wanted to settle the children at a reasonable time, which we should be able to do with no interruptions when booking a weekend away. We reported that we were unhappy about this situation on departure the following morning, but the receptionist did not seem interested.
On removal of the duvet and pillow case covers ready for the cleaners we also found urine stains on the children's duvet, which if we had noticed beforehand we definitely would have not let them use it and complain straight away.
We have contacted IHG directly since our return and there response was, thank you for informing us and we will pass your comments to the hotel.
Not much of a response for the issues we experienced on our small break with them.

I recently stayed at the M27 Jct 7 in Botley Road in Southampton and I was NOT impressed at all, the room was meant to be a family room, yes it had two beds which were very close together with a table and chair in the room (which you could not use because it was pushed up against the second bed), there was no wardrobe apart from one little rail, at breakfast I had to share the room with ANTS running around near my table, the chair was wet, and whilst I was looking out of my room window I noticed what I thought to be a rabbit running away from the restaurant area but this turned out to be a RAT, so no I do not recommend this hotel

On our arrival was greeted by polite staff who checked us in very quickly and when we got to our room it was lovely and very clean too. Had a great nights sleep and breakfast in the morning was lovely with lots of choice too. Would definitely go again.

The hotel offers free wifi for guests, but this turned out to be a very weak signal throughout the hotel, which was incapable of supporting either my mobile phone's requirement (which was minimal) or that of my laptop. There was also no network coverage at all for either my work or personal mobile phones, which are on two different networks.
The room itself was clean and well presented. However, there was no plug socket located within reach of the mirror in the room, making it difficult to use my own hairdrier, and the one provided was fairly inefficient. I had a few other minor problems with my particular room, of which I was going to leave details on the room questionnaire, but this had already been completed by a previous occupant, including their personal details.
The evening menu is limited, and the food was hit and miss - I ordered the same meal as my colleague and there was a considerable difference in quality between the two. The breakfast menu is slightly more varied, but one coffee machine was out of order. There was a limited choice for certain dietary requirements, although I never asked if there was an alternative, so there may have been.
The staff were polite and friendly, and the hotel covers basic needs. I would suggest this hotel is suited to someone looking for a place to stay on a short term basis, for reasons other than business.

Everything was going great on my four day stay when the last day the WIFI in the hotel broke down. This has happened to me in other hotels but usually the problem is rectified within a couple of hours. Unfortunately at this Holiday Inn the problem persisted for more than 12 hours. Since I was on a business trip and had to send and receive important documents this was a big inconvenience. I must say that especially the night manager tried to help but none of the solutions she had recommended were viable options.

Modern hotel, good rooms, a bit difficult to find with the navigation system of the car, so make sure you look up on google maps... Food at the bar was good, but we were not contempt with the very very little amout of pasta on the plate from the children´s menu.

We only stayed two nights but were extremely pleased with the quality of the food provided by the restaurant both for dinner and breakfast.
As expected all other aspects of this hotel were of a high quality.

Check in seemed chaotic, check out had just one person trying to cope. Bed was uncomfortable and breakfast coffee and cooked offering we felt was poor. We requested a ground floor room several weeks before arrival but were given the furthest room possible from the reception. Told management and were offered just a cursory apology. We will probably return to the alternative HI Express next time we stay in Southampton.

When we arrived the hotel looked for nice, checked in quickly and receptionist very pleasant. Entered the room to find maltesers on the floor evidence that the room had not been cleaned. When we went down for food, not much choice for vegeterians so I ordered a pizza £9.50, when the pizza arrived it was a cheap frozen pizza which tasted disguisting. When I spoke to the waiter, he shrugged his shoulders and advised it was fresh, when I challenged the same, he was very rude. Manageress came and advised the pizza was frozen the toppings are fresh!!! If I wanted a poor pizza I would have gone to a take away. She did offer to change the meal however there was very little options and I wasnt convinced by the quality of the same and asked for a refund, I was then told the refund would take 2 days to process!!! REALLY! The then started to come across very condasending and I had to ask her to leave us alone.I was told the refund would go back to the card I paid on, however they refunded it to the card I paid for the hotel with! Definateley wouldnt stay here again!
