Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by 2013 route 66 gymnastics meet Not for from the omni-plex. Staff goes out of way to make you welcomed. steak and shake across the street. Great Burgers and shakes. Staff recommended Jimm's steak house. 4 star resturant. excellent food and price. Breakfast was free. rooms are spacious and clean. great property. Springfield is spread out. about 40 minutes to Branson, MO. Branson not really worth the trip. check out the Bass Pro shop. April 11, 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by many visits We have stayed at this hotel several times since it opened. It was really nice at first. We notice the staff becomes increasingly lax each time we are there. This time, upon check in, the trash can at the front door was heaping over with trash piled on the ground next to it. The next day, I commented about it and another guest said he had been there 3 days and it had been that way all along. I reported it to the desk and the associate said it must of just happened as it wasn't that way when she came in this morning. I let her know my observation and the other guest. She said "oh". On a visit several years ago I took my dogs which they did accept upon opening and I verified on the IHG web site that they still did. The very rude desk associate told me upon checkout she had charged another $50 to our room for unauthorized pets. I invited her to check the IHG site which she did. Then I was told it was not correct as they no longer take pets and I should't have snuck them in. I was really offended and refused to pay. I invited her to check the room and she would see it was fine. She then stated she is charging because another guest complained when they saw the pets as they understood there were no pets allowed. She gave them a $50 discount which I must pay. I refused again. They are not keeping up on the cleaning and maintenance either. Which is a shame as it was such a nice hotel when it opened. Springfield is our home town. We stay at the other Hammons property on Glenstone it is better managed but we like the location of this one. The other hotel almost always upgrades us as we are platinum. This hotel has never upgraded us. I find it hard to believe they have never had an upgrade available. April 3, 2013

Told desk person the day I checked out about it and all I got was "We'll get on it". Really surprised at the apathy, but maybe it is common there. Seemed like staff was not properly trained on handling problems like this. April 2, 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Housekeeping service lacking Bath tub faucet dripped. Management made aware but took no action. Coffee service not always replenished and carafe not always cleaned. Toiletries not fully replenished. Overall housekeeping lacking. However, overall appearance of motel was modern and tasteful. Location was good for shopping but suffered due to noise from nearby railroad. April 1, 2013

There was a pool, but it was an outdoor pool (I stayed during winter), no fridge or microwave in the room, and the elevator were very slow. However, close to Missouri State campus, which was why we were in town. Options were limited. March 26, 2013

On the first night I went to the front desk to purchase a bottle of water (there are no vending machines on the premises). After waiting over ten minutes for an associate to cover the front desk/snack area I finally left. I returned to the front desk after using the fitness equipment about two hours later, and still there was no one manning the front desk. On my return visit later in the week upon arrival I asked to purchase a bottle of water (thinking as long as I had someone I'd get the bottle of water right away#. The associate manning the desk was somewhat rude, telling me that it was a visiting hockey team who purchased all of their water #and other items) and she wouldn't have any replacements for several days. Really, it's the hockey teams fault that you are out of water??? It's not the poor planning of the puchaser?? Blaming a customer is not cool with me.....Oh, and by the way, the next morning on checkout the person behind the desk was extremely quiet, shy and could not even make eye contact with me when I asked a question.....will not go back to this location. Poorest Holiday Inn experience in a long time!!! March 18, 2013

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by dirty room We have been staying at this Holiday Inn Express for the last few years since our son attends Missouri State. Last fall during our stay we noticed that the bed was dirty and the sheets looked like they had been sleep in. We called the front desk and someone from maintenance came to our room and changed the sheets. We booked 2 nights this past weekend and upon entering the room noticed that the carpet looked like it hadn't been vacuumed. After further inspection we noticed hairs on both bed covers and the beds looked like they had been slept in. We proceeded to the front desk to complain to the hotel manager. He moved us to a 2 bed suite which was much better. It seems to me that housekeeping doesn't seem to be doing their job. After this last experience I don't know that I will stay at this hotel again which is ashame because we love how close it is to campus. I think it's time to update the carpet & wallpaper and maybe hire some new cleaning staff. Very dissappointing stay. February 19, 2013

This time, we were on the 4th floor (room425) and it smelled like stale smoke. My husband said every time the heater came on, it seemed worse. If this room had been a 'smoking room' previously, they should have changed out the heater/AC unit. February 16, 2013

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Location Traveling late we called from the road and asked if this was the location close to I44 and we were assured it was. booked the room on my priority number and was told that there were plenty available and we told the clerk that we would be arriving late and please have the paper work ready. We arrived at the "downtown Springfield" hotel miles away from the highway and when we arrived at the desk the clerk was rude and said its not that far, also did not have the paperwork ready and demanded my phone number saying it was company policy. It is on my priority account also no recognition of priority status. Bad experience all round. February 6, 2013

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Nice room / indifferent staff My husband & I have stayed at this facility several times because it is conveniently located, has comfortable rooms, good service, and breakfast. However, on this visit certain staff members did not provide the service to which we were accustomed. The housekeeper didn't empty the coffee pot or leave coffee for the next day, and the following day we got no maid service at all. One day I was walking in the hall to my room and 3 of the housekeepers were standing by one of their carts complaining about their assignments. They continued their discussion as I approached. I thought that this was very unprofessional. When we checked out I asked the front desk clerk if she had as comment card that I could take with me and mail back. She looked in a drawer & said that they must be out. She didn't ask me if there had been any sort of problem with my stay. On a positive note, the front desk clerk who checked us in was very friendly, as was the employee who was working at the breakfast bar. Also, this is the only hotel that I've ever been to that didn't provide lotion. December 2, 2012

I am however very disappointed that I was billed twice and have had to leave multiple messages with the hotel concerning this bill. I am still waiting for a credit. :( November 14, 2012
