I am a platinum card member and have stayed at this hotel well over 100 times in the past several years. About a year ago the service at this hotel took an incredible turn for the worse with things being unusable and the staff being difficult. In my last stay it was 2 days before the trash was emptied in the room and 3 days before someone put shampoo and conditioner. I am considering taking my business to the other Holiday Inn Express in town. I would check out the Medical District location if staying in Springfield.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by JTS1950 Amenities a little lacking
Asked for toothpaste first day of three day stay, front desk advised me they had none. Bought some across the street, but asked again the next two days, just to see if anyone followed up on being out of product. Was advised by front desk that they had been waiting for an order for sometime now, thought it may come in later in the week, didn't have the authority to buy some on their own.
Also questioned that the refrigerator in the breakfast room had been out of service the last two visits, presently using ice in a tray to cool products. Was advised that "it just takes a long time to get things fixed around here."
Suggest you do more to honor you commitment to provide guests with amentities they may have forgotten to bring along, maybe remove inoperative refrigerator, until you get it fixed, as it looks bad to repeat customers when maintenance items go unattended for long periods.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by jaredrrt Always something broken/not working
I have stayed at this property about once a month this year for business. Each time I stay there is always something broken or not working. First, it was one of the side doors. Then it was teh refridgerator for the breakfast items. This last time it was the light in my bathroom. I stayed two nights, informed the desk the first day I was there. When I arrived back at my hotel at 3 pm on the 1st day I asked if they were able to fix the light in my bathroom. The lady said no, they guy worked on the pool all day and had left already. he would get to it tomorrow. I was leaving tomorrow. It didn't help me in my stay in the hotel today. It was frustrating. In addition, the refridgerator in the breakfast area is still broken. The items that are usually in the fridge are laid out in ice. How hard is it to either fix it or get a new one? It has been over 2 months! I will not stay at this hotel when I come to Springfield any more. I think I have given it enough chances.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Mike219 Non-recognition of Club members and humidity
Due to flight delays, we arrived late at night and the night clerk did not seem to understand the free upgrades for Platinum Elite members or any recognition for any Club members. All other IHG locations always try to give recognition to Platinum members with upgrades, other physical expressions or at least a verbal recognition, other than a nonchalant "yes you are".
When we got to our room, it was very humid and damp. However, my wife didn't want to move because it was late and we were very tired. She also liked that the first floor location would offer easy access to the swimming pool that she really enjoyed during the day. It would be good to address the room humidity issue.
On the positive notes, it was very clean and it looked like they were trying to improve the facilities with some needed maintenance. The food is what you should expect at any Holiday Inn Express catering to business travelers wanting to grab a quick bite.

This Hotel is located off the main roads and next to the Stadium. The beds are why I stay at Holiday Inn's. They are the best for comfort. Quiet location and the outside pool to relax by are an added Bonus.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by FJamieson Nice, but needs attention
We were greeted as Priority Club Platinum members and an upgraded room was already processed. We were provided coupons for water. Really rather preferred the days when the property provided a "goodie" bag, but it seems those days are over. This is a nice property and it had been 4 years since our last visit. It's looking worn: carpets in need of deep cleaning or replacement and just general maintenance. The toilet set in our room was very loose and it appeared that it had been some time. I used the men's room near the breakfast area and found the same issue. This was reported to the front desk upon our departure and the desk clerk did fill out a maintenance request. Breakfast was typical of most HIE's; unfortunately they did not have a pancake machine. Food was warm and well stocked. We would stay again.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by NotCrazy I was going to drop it, but you wanted a review.
I've stayed at the this hotel a total of 3 times over the last two years. The first two times were fine. The third time, May 25, 2013, was awful. We were in room 432. The room was supposed to be non-smoking, but when we walked in it I could immediately tell by the smell that it wasn't. The cigarette burn hole in one of the drapes was further proof that I wasn't imagining anything. But it was late at night, we were tired and so we decided to just open the windows for some fresh air and deal with it.
The wallpaper was peeling from the walls and drywall tape was coming loose at the ceiling and wall joint. But that's just cosmetic and we could live with that.
The door didn't fit the door frame. There was a 1 inch gap that let the hall noise and light in all night long.
But, what was totally unacceptable were the mattresses. Both beds. They were really bad. Quite possibly the worst I've ever tried to sleep on. They were broken down to the point that it was difficult to stay on the bed and not roll off of it. And to top it off the pillows were very lumpy.
I complained the next morning to the front desk staff, hoping for some sort of adjustment on my bill. I feel like they treated me like I was a crazy person. They told me they couldn't do anything and as soon as another person walked up they turned away from me and both started dealing with the other person, even though I wasn't finished with them. Very rude.
I'm posting pictures of the burn in the drape and the wallpaper and gap in door, so you'll know I'm not making this up. I only wish there was someway to show how bad the beds were, because that was the real problem.
If you get room 432 and you want to be able to sleep, ask for a different room

Overall the place is good but the pool was out of commission a few days before Memorial Day weekend and the breakfast service was poor. Coffee was gone by 7 AM, pancake machine broken, poor selection and front desk was not real excited to get this fixed. Next visit I think will stay at a Hilton property.

The breakfast attendant stood in the dining room talking to someone pretty much the whole time we were there. Most everything needed restocking but when she finally finished chatting she disappeared.
We were very disappointed with breakfast.

We have stayed at this motel numerous times in the past and this time we brought family with us because we were attending a graduation. I was slightly embarrassed because the breakfast was not what it usually is. There was never any fruit, the pancake machine was down, the drinks were warm and one morning there weren't even any cinnamon rolls. Overall, it was not enjoyable. They hotel was full and one of the elevators broke down. We seriously considered changing motels in the middle of our stay. The rooms were great and the beds were comfy. I hope that if we go back that we will have a stay that is more what we are used to as this motel.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by burkem73 Professional Staff, Comfortable Room
After being efficiently checked in by Kelsey at the front desk, we found a clean and comfortable room with very firm beds, the kind we like. On the plus side, the windows opened, which let us enjoy some cool spring air. Hotel very quiet, which was nice--Art Deco theme was attractive. Only downside on room was that bathroom door did not close fully--improperly installed, I think--but rest of room fine.
Breakfast included the usual items, pancake machine not working--but coffee was good and the dining area pleasant.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by pdee Great service at the front desk but......
We have stayed at this hotel many times in the last 5 years as we have a son that goes to college at MS. The service at the front desk was great. The young man was always there when we needed him and was very nice and professional.
We stayed 2 nights and after the morning after the first night someone knocked on our door and didn't identify herself just as we were getting ready to leave for a banquet and asked if we needed clean towels and we said yes please. When we returned she had changed out our towels for fresh ones and had made up the bed but the trash cans were still full as we had ate our breakfast in our room and the tasteless omelets we had gotten were in there so we emptied them in the trash out side so we didn't have to smell garbage all night. We did not notice till the next morning but she did not put another refill package for coffee maker for the next morning either.
Just thought someone should know as this has always been done before when we stayed more than 1 night.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Jingle great location
The staff was fine, room was good, breakfast good, but the common area trash cans were rarely emptied, the one outside the front entry was FULL and overflowing the entire visit. No one policed the grounds for trash entire visit. Rained while we were there and all guttering in need of repair. None of these items would keep me from returning but all these items except for guttering are easily correctable. I do maintenance work for a living so i may just be more sensitive to these issues than others. Also we left 2 phone chargers in a room from previous night and no one seemed to know where they went. Our fault yes, but thought they would show up with maid service. Nice facility but looking a little unkept! Thanks, but will look into another motel next visit.

Always perplexed by this property. It has to be one of the more expensive HIE that I stay at; in a town with little or no attractability. I have never been recognized as a Priority Club member nor been provided a complimentary upgrade. Both of which have become almost standard on my travels. This latest visit (I have stayed at this hotel since it has opened. I would say 10+ times) was a bit head shaking. Arrived on a Monday night, and was given a coupon for a water. Tuesday afternoon I went to retrieve and was informed they were out by a young girl. I kind of looked at her curiously, and she indicated they would get more on Thursday! Which really does me good on Tuesday. This property sits right next door to a Walgreens. I would have thought the immediate response to be: "Let me get with my manager, and I am sure we will have this resolved ASAP". Nope. Instead she said they have powerade; that's like water. Um, no its not, and if I wanted Powerade I would have grabbed one. This hotel has always protrayed a level of arrogance and bothered to be troubled with any task. If it was not for the location, I would select another property.

Bed and pillows were great. Very clean, fresh and modern throughout lobby, public areas, breakfast room and guest room. Large TV, hot breakfast, pleasant staff, very helpful young gentleman at the desk when I checked in late at night. Everything was beautiful, clean, and up-to-date, even the elevator. Very warm and inviting decor. Within walking distance of a Steak & Shake. Five blocks from downtown shopping. Very pleased overall with the value for the money.

Great experience from start to finish. Upon arrival, staff (Stewart) was very professional and friendly. It was almost like we were long, lost friends.
Room furnishings had a new, fresh like feel. Beds were very comfortable with excellent pillows.
Next day breakfast had many choices and staff did an exceptional job of keeping it well stocked with fresh food.
The only negative thing I can think of during my stay is a couple of times during the night hearing emergency vehicles and a train. Those noises though were brief and didn't keep me from having a well rested night.
Next overnight stay in Springfield I'll definitely return to this location. On of the best hotels I've stayed at in a while!

We have stayed at this hotel several times since it opened. It was really nice at first. We notice the staff becomes increasingly lax each time we are there.
This time, upon check in, the trash can at the front door was heaping over with trash piled on the ground next to it. The next day, I commented about it and another guest said he had been there 3 days and it had been that way all along. I reported it to the desk and the associate said it must of just happened as it wasn't that way when she came in this morning. I let her know my observation and the other guest. She said "oh". On a visit several years ago I took my dogs which they did accept upon opening and I verified on the IHG web site that they still did. The very rude desk associate told me upon checkout she had charged another $50 to our room for unauthorized pets. I invited her to check the IHG site which she did. Then I was told it was not correct as they no longer take pets and I should't have snuck them in. I was really offended and refused to pay. I invited her to check the room and she would see it was fine. She then stated she is charging because another guest complained when they saw the pets as they understood there were no pets allowed. She gave them a $50 discount which I must pay. I refused again.
They are not keeping up on the cleaning and maintenance either. Which is a shame as it was such a nice hotel when it opened.
Springfield is our home town. We stay at the other Hammons property on Glenstone it is better managed but we like the location of this one.
The other hotel almost always upgrades us as we are platinum. This hotel has never upgraded us. I find it hard to believe they have never had an upgrade available.

Disposed of 12 ants near the desk area in my room, but left the evidence for the cleaning staff the next day.
Told desk person the day I checked out about it and all I got was "We'll get on it".
Really surprised at the apathy, but maybe it is common there.
Seemed like staff was not properly trained on handling problems like this.

I don't mind paying for amenities, but here I had to pay but not many amenities. There was a pool, but it was an outdoor pool (I stayed during winter), no fridge or microwave in the room, and the elevator were very slow. However, close to Missouri State campus, which was why we were in town. Options were limited.

I stayed at this hotel on two different nights in one week. On the first night I went to the front desk to purchase a bottle of water (there are no vending machines on the premises). After waiting over ten minutes for an associate to cover the front desk/snack area I finally left. I returned to the front desk after using the fitness equipment about two hours later, and still there was no one manning the front desk. On my return visit later in the week upon arrival I asked to purchase a bottle of water (thinking as long as I had someone I'd get the bottle of water right away#. The associate manning the desk was somewhat rude, telling me that it was a visiting hockey team who purchased all of their water #and other items) and she wouldn't have any replacements for several days. Really, it's the hockey teams fault that you are out of water??? It's not the poor planning of the puchaser?? Blaming a customer is not cool with me.....Oh, and by the way, the next morning on checkout the person behind the desk was extremely quiet, shy and could not even make eye contact with me when I asked a question.....will not go back to this location. Poorest Holiday Inn experience in a long time!!!
