Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Nice, clean room, comfortable bed and great staff! We were on a color tour with no planned agenda. We were delightfully surprised by this nice facility. Many of the hotels, this one included will be closing on 10/26 or thereabouts for the winter. The staff was very accommodating and helpful. I've had bad experiences in hotels and always ask to see the room before making my decision. The staff was eager to show us a room, said it was the last King they had available for the evening, it was on the ground floor. I am a very light sleeper and when I inquired if there was a room on the 4th floor they were happy to accommodate. They are in the process of remodeling so there were several boxes in a hallway but it wasn't really an issue! I didn't care for all the mirrors around the hot tub!! The bed was very comfortable, breakfast was nice selections. I have Celiac so often there are not choices, however this facility offered bacon, eggs and yogurt that are good choices. The staff was extremely friendly and kind. Wished us a good day when we left! Would definitely stay here again and would recommend to other travelers to give it a try! October 17, 2014
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great View....Comfortable Bed.....Great Service! We stopped in to St. Ignace on a whim on a Sunday night with the intent of driving back home after a bite to eat. However, at the last minute we decided to stay overnight, and we booked the Holiday Inn Express. It is considered off season being mid-October, but the rate was incredible, and the view.....EVEN BETTER! Our room overlooked Mackinac Island and Lake Huron, and although cold this particular weekend, we still used the balcony to take in the view. The staff was very friendly and courteous and made us feel welcome, and the room was very clean with a VERY COMFY bed! We were glad we decided to stay an extra night. We left refreshed in the morning and ready for our drive home. Great experience! October 16, 2014
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Off-Season Visit Great value with off-season rates. Larger hotel with sprawling hallways. Not close (walking distance) to any bars or restaurants and nothing on site. Hotel could use some updating. Eating area crowded with just a few guests. Free breakfast - you get what you pay for. No different that any other HI Express. The quality of food seems to have declined in the past few years. Synthetic eggs and bacon are just a prop. Really not edible. October 16, 2014
