I am a Gold Priority Club member, this was not mentioned at check-in and I received no benefit for being a member (even though my number was on the registration form).
My room was very clean, but, had constant traffic noise from the A120, there are vents in the top of the windows that cannot be closed.
The TV picture is too wide for the screen so you don't get to see all the picture - great when watching football etc...
No WIFI in bedrooms, you have to plug your laptop into a cable at the back of the TV, so you have to sit at the desk and not able to relax on the bed.
I went for breakfast at 7am, it was pretty poor and looked like it had been trashed - clearly all the early risers catching flights had been in.
I wasn't paying for the room (company did), else I would have complained.

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by SensormanGB No allocated reward points at this hotel
Careful all you Priority Club customers. Do not expect your points to be allocated at this hotel. The location is excellent for Stansted Airport and the rooms, lounge & breakfast are OK. However I keep staying here and as last week booked & paid up front for 3 rooms but no points allocated AGAIN! 6 times out of 6 visits this has happened, so please look out for this on your account. What makes it even more of a problem this time was that I mentioned it during check in and was assured this would not happen this time. Guess what, it has and after applying for the adjustment only 1 nights points were allocated. Looking for an alternative at Stansted now.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Sionie1 Ok, but rooms need some tlc
I stayed here for one night, intending in the future to be here weekly. My greeting at reception was friendly and professional.
£8 parking is a bit steep, and was sprung on me.
The room was ok, but with grubby paintwork and stained carpet, I left thinking it wasn't really the standard I have become used to fom IHC.
I'd can only recommend this hotel if you need somewhere desperately to stay , or you need one night before a flight, and you are really tired. Tired enough to overlook the shortcomings.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by mdk01 Worst experience
I had a terrible experience due to a very foul smell in our room upon arrival. The smell orginated from the bathoom (most probably from a drainage problem) and was so intense it became difficult to breathe. Luckily we only stayed a few hours as our flight was early the next morning. There was a very basic breakfast with limited options and we were unhappy to have to pay £3 per person for the shuttle service to the airport.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 exellent service and friendly staff
stayed at the end of a long weekend break to barcelona booked a 4 day park and stay . parked the car on saturday at the hotel everything was ready, voucher to put in the car, shuttle bus arrived within 2 minutes and off to the airport. returned in the early hours of tuesday morning ( 12.30am) shuttle bus was there and back to hotel . picked key up and managed a couple of drinks at the bar before bed. breakfast was a hot buffet which was very good and just the thing we needed before our drive home to durham. overall a very good place to stay if you are flying from stanstead.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by CharlesL Easy start to the holiday
Have stayed here before and think it has been better this time. Room spotlessly clean and comfortable, also not noisy if heating fan left off.
Staff were really helpful and efficient. Had evening meal and felt food very good and not madly expensive. Left too early on first shuttlebus at 4am for the breakfast, so might have been nice to have had refreshments ready by then - it was a while before we got through to airside for the first cuppa!
The car parking deal is well worth it and we were able to keep car right by hotel this time.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by ajschofield87 Good enough
Booked here because of its ideal location to the airport. Stayed one night before our 8.15am flight. Staff were all helpful and the place was very clean and presented well. The building is not that old it seems. No issues with the room but I found the bed too uncomfortable and thus got a poor nights sleep....not ideal for a busy following day. But mattresses are down to the individual. Thats my only complaint. They have a nice bar area and serve food very early (4am I think it was) untill very late. This was great to get a proper meal.
Entry to the car park is by a barrier/ticket type you get in multi storey car parks. This was fine but I didnt realise it was £8 to park there for the night. (That is not including leaving your car there for the duration of the holiday by the way) I just presumed your room booking would include parking. JUST BE AWARE
I had already booked the Mid Stay car park directly on there website which cost me £27 for the hours I required. So in the morning I drove to this car park at around 6am and left it untill 10pm 2 and a half days later. This service has regular shuttles to then take you to and from the terminals.
Overall I would recommend Holiday Inn Stanstead to make that holiday more stress free!

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by kitzia Good hotel but expensive shuttle bus
I stayed at this hotel for one night prior to an early flight. I firstly couldn't find the departure bay for the shuttle bus to the hotel, and then I was astonished to find that a one mile trip with the hotel own shuttle bus service costs £3 one way per person. Whilst I understand that the airport operators charge the hotel for the shuttle bus service, it would be better and more customer-friendly to include this charge in the room rate. This would also contribute to increased use of public transport and make the hotel more competitive for longer stays (e.g. for travelling to Cambridge or into Central London).
Dinner was quite basic but OK, although the prices on the actual menu were higher than the ones advertised on the homepage.
The room was clean and quiet considering the close proximity to the airport and motorway, but I found the mattress too soft and very noisy when turning around.
Overall, I can recommend a stay at this hotel, but I wouldn't expect anything great. The rates are very reasonable and you get what you pay for.

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by pinky32 Comfortable Room, Terrible Overpriced Evening Meal
We stayed at Holiday in Stansted like many as we had an early morning flight. It was great value an a perfect location to the mid stay carpark which we had booked (just over a roundabout).
We travelled straight from work in the evening and decided to eat in the hotel - what a mistake! Avoid the shared platter for a starter as contains at best some barely edible food, but the chicken wings were the worst, they seem to have been microwaved and then covered with black pepper, not only did they look awaful you couldn't eat them as the smell got there first! £22 for a steak with sauce, you expect it to be half decent, it was tiny, overcooked (asked for medium rare) and again only half edible. My partner had pizza and if you are going to eat I would say go for that or something like jacket potato as surely they can't go wrong with that?!
I always expet in these places to pay a bit more for food, but for a bottle of house wine, starter and main each at £70 I think the food shold be edible.
Overall I would stay again but just cross over the road to mcdonalds where the food would be 100% better.
Disappointing stat to our holiday.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by lizjen Good staff and a comfortable stay
As many if not all guests at this hotel I needed to be close to the airport due to my travel arrangements. The staff were very helpful and polite. The holiday inn express tends to have a bit more of a premier inn feel about it by the cheapness of some of the decor. Bathrooms only have a shower and the rooms are more basic.
My room was comfortable though and there were clear instructions regarding the use of any equipment, breakfast times and shuttle bus times. It was a pity that the shuttle bus cost £3 each way when most shuttle services I have used have been free. This could be a problem if you have just arrived in the country at 12 am and have neither euros or sterling. My bathroom needed a little TLC, the grouting and the corking were getting shabby but I expect that its a busy hotel and I didn't sleep in there. I slept in a very comfy double bed and found the noise levels to be generally good.
I would stay there again for the convenience, good breakfast and very good staff.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Lilia Dreadful...avoid at all costs!!!!
It was freezing! I did not sleep at all because of the cold even though I kept all my clothes on plus a scarf.
Everything is self-service. Tiring if you arrive late. The wake up call is self service but there is no confirmation that the request has been logged. Not great if you have an early flight and want assurance that it will work. Breakfast...dismal.
I will never use any of these hotels again..
The reception staff were the only positive factor.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Reggie100 Good place to stay before next day flight.
We stayed at this hotel as we were going away for 9 days and wished to park the car at the airport. Considering the cost of using the long or mid stay car park alone, our one-night stay was very good value, as it included the cost of parking the car.
We found the room to be comfortable, and it was very nice to be offered a smoking room. Why do other hotels not offer this?
The staff were helpful and polite.
All in all, we would stay at Holiday Inn Express Stansted again.

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 Quality slipping, unlike the rates !!!!
Travel extensively for both work and travel all over the world and have used Holiday Inn and Holiday Inn Express frequently and i am a priority club member..
This visit to Stansted was a 1 night layover for an early flight to visit family over the holiday period.
Check in was its usual efficient and high standard, we were met by friendly and very helpful staff.
On arrival in our room it was like transported back in time to the 80's. First thing we noticed is that the TV was at least 15 years old, and had only 5 channels, now this may sound a little churlish but it was not even a flat screen and after a 5 hour drive it would have been nice to chill infront of a decent tv with the normal freeview / sky channels.
There was no bath only a shower cubicle which is fine, but i hate to say this, it was really grubby, grubby enough to consider calling down to reception to get it cleaned, but it was late and knackered after a long journey we decided to to the British thing and put up with it as we were leaving at 4 the next morning. Carpets stained, only towels for 1 person despite the room booked for 2 etc etc....
Went for something to eat in restaurant, very very limited choice of evening meal;... 3 things?? and very expensive again for small portions.
Drinks increadibly expensive, i understand captive audience etc but i think nearly £9 for a pint of regular larger and a small lemonade is excessesive.
standards are slipping..... but as i mentioned not the rates.
I dont think we will use this particular Holiday Inn again, especially as there is a similar hotel 200 yards away that offer better rates, more modern rooms.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Chris12 fair if you book in advance
our stay here can be descrbed as 'fair value for money' I say this as it is a well located hotel - for Stansted airport, and the shuttle service is great. however the breakfast, (full or continental) is very basic.
We stayed two nights (one week apart) so had two diff rooms. both were clean and comfortable enough, except for the main bed - there is a need to look at the quality of the matteres. did not get a comforatble sleep on either night.
Also cant understand why the bed is on roller wheels that dont lock into place??? this meant that when sitting up in bed, against the headboard, the bed would 'roll away' from the wall. Very annoying.
The reception staff were friendly and check-in was smooth and like mentioned due to the fact we got a good rate due to long in advance booking, this was a value for money stay for us.

We were waiting to fly ou the next day and prefered to stay close by and use H.I. Express.
The air/heat did not work and the room was not up to normal standards. The staff was not very understanding or helpful.
The rest of the hotel was okay.
I would stay again, but would be more demanding of the staff.

Arrived with my wife after a flight at about 2AM to be met by a receptionist who really didnt want to be there. Room pokey and bed lumpy. Next morning breakfast was an insult. Odd bits of food randomly brought out but no crockery or cutlery, people eating off napkins with their fingers and drinking tea (Black no milk!!) out of glasses as no cups.!!
Contacted Customer Care by email when we got home received a standard reply thanking me for my comments!!! They didnt grasp that it was a complaint!!!!!!
I stay in budget type hotels at least once a week but certainly wont be rushing to a HI Express again

This was my first time staying alone in a hotel since my husband died and I can honestly say although only staying one night that I would recommend this hotel. This is a one night hotel so what you need is to have a good rest... but in those extremely soft beds what you do is to ruin your back for the next day.
Breakfast and service was good.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by fzjh find something else
oh my, where to start:
- 3P/5€ ripoff to actually get from the airport to the hotel, there's basically no way to walk there. I'd include the bus ticket into the room price!
- service upon arrival was poor, just gave me the key without giving me any information about breakfast times etc.
- stained carpet and chair in the room, rest looked quite clean
- I still don't get why every hostel in the world has free wifi in the room and some hotels still don't. I suppose they're stuck in the 90s.
bottom line: look for some other place nearby the airport (personally I'll check out some places in Takely next time I have to spend a night around stansted), you'll have to get a bus there anyway.
