Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Arrogant Front Desk at Check In Upon check in, the agent aggressively tried to get us to eat at a local steak house when there was an Outback on the same property of the hotel. This made me suspicious that there might have been a kickback involved. Additionally, we were not recognized as a Gold Priority Club member nor were we given a "welcome kit" as such. When I asked for a bottle of water, I was directed to the vending machine down the hall. Also, apparently not all the rooms have a refrigerator and a microwave which proved to be a problem in that we had medical items requiring refrigeration. The fellow who checked us in said that rooms having a refrigerator and microwave are on a first come, first serve basis and that there were none available. We checked in a 5PM. In fairness, the web site does not indicate that all rooms have these items, it's just that I have never stayed at a HI Express that did not have a refrigerator & microwave in the room. Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Next to the Exercise Room, Stale bread, and not our hair on the pillow. It was nice that the staff had room for us when there wasn't rooms available on line. The desk staff was very nice and that's where it ended. We had the room next to the 24 hour workout room, yes you can hear the equipment. There was hair on the pillow of the bed that wasn't from anyone we knew. My wife wanted to examine the sheets but I was too tired and too stressed to be concerned. I took my chances and lived to write about it. The bathroom needed some bleach and a recaulk job. The breakfast Sunday morning appeared to be Saturdays leftovers. All the bread product were stale. And I wish that all hotels could have smoking areas somewhere other than outside the front door. I don't like walking through smoke to enter or exit a hotel as I had to with this one. Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Not the best My initial impression was very good as I entered the lobby and was warmly greeted by the desk attendant. My wife and I were pleased with the King bed room as well. After we adjusted the heat and settled in for the night, the fan on the heater became very noisy. It didn't bother me too much, but drove my wife crazy. She turned off the heat during the night to silence the noisy fan, but since it was in the 20's outside, it soon became cold in our room. She decided to turn the heat back on and put up with the noise the rest of the night. In the morning, we went for breakfast about 9:30 a.m. (it was a Saturday morning). Although there was a staff person attending to the breakfast items, there were quite a few items that were empty. We were sitting at a table close to the room where the food items were prepared and we could hear 2 female and 1 male voices talking. We sat there for 5 to 10 minutes eating what we had and hearing the 3 people talk, while noticing that other guests were coming for breakfast only to find very little to choose from. I finally (because I wanted a cinnamon roll, of which there weren't any) went to the door at the room and asked if someone could get some cinnamon rolls and also mentioned that there were other items that were empty. Almost immediately the 2 females began to attend to the breakfast items, finally. The male person left the room (he was a staff member as well). By this time we were finished with our minimal breakfast and left the area. Upon check-out, the desk attendant asked how our stay was. I said that since he brought it up, that he should have someone check the heater fan in the room that we stayed in because it was very noisy all night. I didn't mention the breakfast episode however. We departed and I mentioned to my wife that I guessed the Holiday Inn Express in State College didn't appear to be any different than most others that I stayed in, in college towns, which was very disappointing to me since I am a Penn Stater. Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Prime location, superb accommodations As our travels have brought us back to State College on many occasions over the past ten years, our stays at Williamsburg Square have never been disappointing. Some weekends (football and graduations) have been pricey but for convenience, cleanliness and pleasant surroundings this location is among our favorites. November 4, 2012

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Great Staff You have a really great staff. Always friendly and willing to help. Really helped when we had a medical emergency. Everything is fine, but the staff just made it so much easier to deal with our emergency. We have been staying there since it opened and have never had a bad experience. October 12, 2012
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Always a great experience Because it was an event weekend in the State College area the value was just average. All other areas were a welcoming experience. October 8, 2012
