Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by SueW17 Great location in Happy Valley - near PSU
First time staying at Williamsburg Square in State College. Perfect location just 5 minutes from the PSU campus. Hotel was conveniently located, room was very large and comfortable. Bathroom had ample counter space and good shower. The complementary breakfast was plentiful and coffee was hot and good. Front desk was efficient and helpful. We will stay hear again when we are in the area.

Great hard components of the property, nice staff, and enjoyable breakfast. For the money it was a great deal. Also, the girl who checked me in did a great job.

Great location, close to Penn State. My only recommendation is to have the breakfast go until 11:00 when games have a later start. 10:00 is too early and they were clearing out the breakfast food right at 10:00.

I only stayed one night, but I must say, EVERYTHING was absolutely perfect. From check in to check out. Room was clean and fresh smelling. Bathroom was immaculate. Bed was so very comfortable (I wish my bed at home was that comfortable), breakfast was excellent. I highly recommend you stay at the Holiday Inn Express, State College ANYTIME you are in the area!

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by GardnerD Average hotel
I've stayed at this property twice now, and I'm not really impressed. I stay in hotels over 75 nights a year, and find this one to be average at best. The rooms are clean, the beds comfortable, but there's nothing special about it. While I've been recognized as a Gold Elite IHG member at other Holiday Inn Express properties, and even offered a welcome amenity, at this location I received no acknowledgment of it at all. When you travel as much as I do, little touches like that go a long way, and as I have comparable status at other brands that also have hotels in the area, I will probably be choosing them in the future. The biggest problem I have with this property, and the biggest reason that I will probably not return, is the breakfast that is offered. There is limited selection, and even less healthy options: There were only apples available for fruit, and small yogurts. There is also no oatmeal, a staple of practically every other hotel I have ever stayed in, and one of the few things that hotels offer that can keep a person full until lunch.
All that being said, I do appreciate the fact that there are outlets directly adjacent to the bed for easy phone charging. Also, the internet connectivity and speeds were adequate.

Bathroom floors are very dirty. This was our second stay within last few months and both rooms had very dirty bathroom floors. Also, toilet seat would not stay in up position when lifted.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by BAS101965 Dirty Bathroom
Upon arrival I walked into the bathroom and my shoes stuck to the floor. My colleague was staying across the hall and experienced the same thing. We both told the front desk and they sent someone to "clean" the bathroom. It was not better. After looking at the floor it was black behind the toilet and just really really dirty.

The Holiday Inn - State College, PA at Williamsburg Square continues to be my favorite place to stay when travelling to State College for business or leisure. They are consistently friendly, concerned about their customers needs while providing a clean, comfortable source of lodging.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by bbtsc66 nice hotel, great staff
even though I was there for my brother funeral, It was so out there that the price of the room were three times the normal rate due to a football game. The staff was great and the rooms were very nice and comfortable. the toilet handle had to be jiggled when done ( we let the front desk know ) The comforter for the king size bed on came 3/4 up on us, not to my neck like a normal comforter. So we just turned the heat up a bit. Pillows were not king size pillows & way to soft. There was NO bathe tub ( after a 6 hr ) drive to get there my stiff body was needing a good soak. As for the morning breakfast, forget it. With all the football people in the hotel you could not get to anything, let along get a place to sit and enjoy . When we came back later that night I was cold and wanted some hot tea ( hate coffee) So we went to lobby to make some, they kept the coffee filled, but not the hot water filled ( for making hot tea ) used coffee pot in room for hot tea and it just tasted like coffee ( nasty)

I would like to congratulate the entire staff at the Holiday Inn at State College under the leadership of GM Ben for their excellent service. As a long time 'road warrior', it is normally hard to find the comforts of home but the staff here go the extra mile to make all of their guests welcome and comfortable.. Special thanks to Ben the GM who accommodated me on the busiest weekend of the season at State College. Thank you to Ben and his entire Team !

Ultra clean, well appointed room, great comfortable bed. Actually saw the manager on site and he was actively managing. Have not seen this in a LONG time at other properties. Desk staff was quick to offer printed directions to my local destinations without prompting. My favorite was the taller than the usual run of the mill luggage rack in the room. Property location is in great proximity to the school and to any shopping or dining one would need.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Delee 2 rooms for family
I reserved 2 rooms for my daughter/husband and my son/finance for Aug 17th. The rooms were perfect for them. The front desk staff went above and beyond, I was able to check them in early and place items in their rooms beforehand. Any requests or questions were answered promptly and professionally.
I will use the State College HIExpress again if the need arises. My only disappointment was that there was not a refrigerator in the rooms to keep beverages cold.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Holidayinnexpresstraveler Partially updated rooms, good location
My husband and I were here for two nights while I attended a seminar at PSU. We are IHG rewards club members and used points for the rooms. Neither one of us were greeted as reward members upon check in. After the first night our room was not cleaned because we had left the "do not disturb" sign on our door. However, there was a very large time frame when we were not in the room and yet, no one serviced our room. My husband had to get our towels and soap from the front desk later that night when we returned.
Overall, the property is nice, well maintained and in a good location. Restaurants are close by and it was only 10 mins to campus.
My biggest criticism is the room we stayed in was partially updated. There is still old tile on the floor of the bathroom and an outdated glass door shower. I am glad I did not pay for my rooms, because the price they charge is way too high for the quality of the room. It was clean, but just not completely modern.
One final request: add mini fridges to the rooms.
I most likely will stay here the next time I am in State College, PA.

It was a pleasure to stay and enjoy the complimentary breakfast and get a great night sleep to continue on our vacation. It would be nice if Priority Club members would get more value, I guess the gift bag accessory's aren't available. Overall a nice pleasant stay.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Djhphi Comfortable for short stay
When making reservations, I had to repeat that I was only reserving the room for one night, 3 times. Quoted 2 different prices, which I had to pay more for one night? Hmmm. Then I was transferred to join the rewards club. Went all through the questionaire with the rep only to find out that I didn't make enough money to reap the rewards. *blank stare*. Whatever. The room had a musty smell to it, like it had some suffered some water damage to it recently. Other than that, it was a nice, clean place to lay my head. Breakfast was nice, except they ran out of plates and food. Just need to be a little more prepared. Staff was pleasant and so was my stay.....

We stayed at this Holiday Inn just to drop our daughter off at ice hockey camp at Penn State. We were very pleasantly greeted and easily accommodated for early check-in. The room was extremely clean and comfy. We slept very well, including my daughter on a sleeper sofa (& they aren't known to be the most comfortable). We didn't do the complimentary breakfast as it was the usual stuff and we wanted something a little different; luckily Cracker Barrel was right across the street!
We would definitely stay here again! Great value.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by cshell51 Great staff service and convenient location
So convenient to everything you could possibly need. Staff working the front desk were phenomenal! Helped us with everything we needed no matter what hour. Only complaint would be that the air conditioner in our room was very noisy. Would wake me up when it kicked on, although I am a light sleeper. Everything else, top notch. Thank you.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Bill91850 Poor breakfast service
Every day of my stay they were out of something in their breakfast offering. They only had the "Holiday Inn Sweet Rolls" one day. Other days they were out of coffee, or breakfast sausage, or even the newspaper. I don't know if this was caused by poor planning or just a very conservative approach to waste management. I'm on the road every week and have never come across this before at any hotel. There is usually plenty of food, but not here.
