The front desk staff was great and very helpful. The room was small but comfortable. There was a slight mildew like smell in the bathroom. The breakfast room was under construction, but it was not disturbing, and breakfast was served in the meeting room next door. The breakfast was great! I absolutely loved the pancake machine. The vending machine in the basement was out of order, but the front desk gave complimentary bottled water and cookies.
Overall, we had a great stay and will definitely stay there again if We are in the area again.

HIE was great!!! The location is a bit out of the way of things, but the drives aren't that bad. Free shuttle service to and from the ferry. Just have to make sure to call ahead so you are put on a certain shuttle time. Just watch because on the Sunday I left, they blocked off a time on the shuttle to send a shuttle to Brooklyn. Holly at the front desk was amazing!! She was so personable and very honest! I could've hung out with her all night! Stephen down in the breakfast area was fantastic and very comical! The room was small but comfortable and clean! My room was next to the elevator, which was loud but not impossible to drown out. Overall an enjoyable, comfortable stay! I would most definitely stay here again!!

Great location for what I was looking for. However, did have to wait close to check in time because rooms were not cleaned. I would stay there again.

Room was good as well as rest of hotel. Problem was other guest being a noise nuisance. Slamming doors till 1 or 2 a.m. or being extremely loud on the phone and so on. Was there on business and averaged about 14 hrs a day. Rest was a must. This has been an issue in the past as well at this same location. Will have to unfortunately look for other arrangements next time I'm there on business.

I really enjoyed this hotel. The bed was very comfortable and they have labeled pillows such as soft, firm, hard. Everything was very clean and quiet. I have no complaints and i will return very soon. The staff was very nice, especially the nice man in the breakfast room and a very helpful guy named Matt whom both made the stay so much better.

This hotel has everything you need for a stay. I have stayed for several weeks myself and it has been very enjoyable. The staff is great and they are very hospitable. Stephen goes above and beyond at breakfast and really helps get the day off to a good start.

I chose this location because it offered transportation for the Ferry. The purpose of a hotel offering a shuttle service from the Staten island ferry to the hotel is so that when you call you expect to receive an efficient logical response regarding the wait time. I called the hotel when I got on the ferry from Manhattan, to coordinate a pick up once we arrived on Staten Island. I did not expect to hear the person tell me that I would have to wait 1.5 hours for a pick-up because that's the schedule they have for the shuttle. Most guests of this hotel are driving their own vehicles, so I was confused as to why you would have a scheduled departure and pickup time to and from the hotel when most trips are empty and do not have any passengers....It seems like a waste. I had to wait for car service, because it was freezing, and I needed to get to the hotel ASAP to change and leave for an event. Poor customer service! This was a logical issue, that's being treated like it's rocket science. I learned from this trip, that I will never stay at this establishment again, when I can stay at a comparable hotel at a better rate. The difference in the costs of hotels I could have used for the car service.

Stephen was the host at the breakfast room, his service is top shelf, food was hot and fresh. The area is clean and in order, he is a great person to speak with each morning. makes for a great trip A ++++++++

I was impressed with the location and rate being in Staten Island. The hotel was clean with nice bedding and comfortable furniture. Breakfast was good and the staff was surprisingly friendly. I'll stay here again if I'm in the area.

I need an additional day because of my wrong date for my husband 50 yrs. High School reunion. The staff was the best ever, so friendly and helpful. The breakfast was much more than expected. The choices and variety was diffent daily.

We originally planned a two day stay and then extended it to four days. The staff were cordial and helpful, the accommodations were comfortable, and the shuttle made it convenient to get to the Staten Island Ferry and on to Manhattan. The breakfast area was clean and the selections were good. All in all we had a very good stay and would definitely stay there again.

It was a funeral on Staten Island that brought us to the Holiday Inn Express overnight. Making a reservation with the pleasant Maria the day before set the tone for a nice stay. I was looking forward to meeting her. We were very warmly welcomed by Holly who answered our inquiries promptly. Stephen at breakfast couldn't have been more cheerful and accomodating, and checkout with Gina was fast and efficient. While the rooms are quite compact, they are adequate and very clean. It's the highly qualified and friendly staff that truly made our stay comfortable.

We were blown away by the great service the staff provided us at the Holiday Inn Express on Staten Island. Everyone from the front desk associates to the operations director for the area went above and beyond to make sure we were comfortable and enjoyed our first trip to NYC. If you plan to be hanging out on Staten Island, this is the place to stay!

we have been staying at the holiday inn express at staten island for 4 years. we have a daughter attending wagner college.We vist her at school at least four to six times a year sometime more. Our family lives five hours away from New York. it feels great to get a good night sleep at your hotel to wake up go downstairs and have a nice breakfast to be meet each time by Stephen he is trully wonderful and comforting this is home away from home. Stephen always remembers our name and what are favorite foods are.He is an amazing person and a joy to see for us all. He makes our visit very pleasent we look forward to see him he is very warm and friendly .he is the holiday at the inn.My family trully enjoys our visit at your hotel mostly due to Stephen. t hank you Cheryl

I have stayed here twice both good experiences but this most recent stay they really went over and above! I was in my room and the TV had a line in it, not a big deal so when they called me to see how the room was I let them know that about the line so they could fix it eventually they immediately offered me a new room on the same floor and brought the keys to me! Great customer service highly recommended for that if nothing else!

I stay in Holiday Inn Express hotels all over the country and all of the time and I think they are consistent in room size, comfort, and quality. But, this hotel was sadly disappointing. Although there were signs everywhere that the hotel is non-smoking, my room wreaked. The bathroom vanity was so small I couldn't even put my shaving bag on it and use the sink at the same time. The bathroom also had a funny smell to it, like old wet towels. The room was so small, I laid in bed wondering how two double beds could ever fit (mine was a king, and I had trouble walking around the bed). There was no microwave or mini-fridge, a perk of HIE that I have grown accustomed to. Since I am a Platinum member, I am usually greeted with a welcome sack of bottled water, cookies, chips, and the like....none here, which I guess was a good thing since there was no mini-fridge to keep my water cold. Thank goodness I was only staying one night, or I may be aware of other amenities the hotel is lacking.

The location was not very pretty as it was out by landfill and the area around was abandoned strip malls and empty parking lots. Staten Island itself is a rather morose and unhappy place. The rooms in the hotel are very small. The cleaning of the room was not very extensive and I also had to ask for room to be cleaned after the three days of staying there. The cleaning person said my do not disturb sign was on my door. Well it was for twenty minutes while I was on a work call and I took off while they were cleaning my floor and told them I was done and the room could be cleaned. I was there for a week and I couldn't wait to leave. I have stayed at Holiday Inn Express all over the country and I have noticed they are all old and poorly maintained.

Great staff and excellent service. One of room was made clean & available on priority so that we can check-in early as per our request. We also took shuttle to staten island ferry which is a very thoughtful service. Staff at breakfast was also very friendly and attentive.

Arrived after almost 24 hours of travelling. Reception was excellent, speedy and friendly. Room absolutely fine. Breakfast: lots of options available and very friendly server ? Stephen. One in the party got the free shuttle to Staten Island Ferry. Not sure what there is around there as we left early in the day, but certainly handy for JFK, though was surprised by the $15 toll on the Staten Island Bridge. Would recommend

Good Hotel. Clean and comfortable. Arrived on August 6th, 2013 around 3pm. Was greeted by Matthew at the Front Desk. Matthew was very helpful and friendly. Very nice man. Room was great. Was clean every evening we returned to our room. Shuttle service was a good service. Saved us from the hassle of having to drive to the ferry. Drivers were good. The best part of the hotel has to be Stephen the breakfast host. What an absolutely wonderful man. Very friendly. Greeted everyone and made them feel welcome. Always made sure we got an apple before we left. Loved him. We need alot more Stephen's in the world. Take care of him. Everyone needs to go to breakfast and meet him.

This hotel was a real jewel, the place is clean and friendly. The breakfast was awesome, Stephen was joy to wake up to every morning with Breakfast waiting for us. The entire hotel staff were exceptically friendly. The location was great, easy to find right off the highway. They made my trip to New York AWESOME! Planning two trips Down state next year and will be coming back to the Staten Island West Holiday Inn Express!
