He seemed very interested in what we had done that day and made my 12 year old feel very welcome. the room was great beds very comfy . and the choice of breakfast was super . we wish we could have stayed longer , but we will stay again soon thank you. Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Not one IHG`s finest, Carpets never cleaned where to start. certain staff sound helpful and make all the right noises but fail to deliver.my room 505 wasn’t cleaned properly for my entire stay ,sure sheets changed every 4 days towels dally .but that’s it carpet was not touched. Bin occasionally emptied so if i had a takeaway the night before it greats you smells and all on your return to room, twice room not serviced at all, Thursdays strangely. sheets and towels left at end of bed This wouldn’t be so bad had one of the cheery staff had done something after I had complained. But with a smile and a quip each time they said this was terrible and they would speak to the house keeper and said it wouldn’t happen again. until the following day when it did. No ice machine or microwave access fairly standard in most iHG express hotels As a type 1 diabetic I had to buy my own fridge, which they kept on my departure, quite adamant I was not to take off site. also parking bit of a problem parking ticket costs £70 no cheap option for early payment. parking tickets rife in Matalan for overstay as well. no recognition for IHG MEMBERS August 5, 2013
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by good value rooms Over all we enjoyed our stay at Danetrete Stevenage, the room was comfortable with good facilities, although we could not get any sound on the television, a staff member looked at it but could not get it working and was meant to send someone else to look at it, but no one else came. very limited on site parking which was full on our visit, nearby public car park for guest use, but had trouble exiting car park using token system, not being validated from hotel. On arrival, we were wondering where we would park the car but guests have free parking on the Matalan car park opposite (until 9 am the next day). The staff were great, very helpful, the hotel was generally fine, the room was comfortable, clean and fresh and the stay was affordable, the only aspect which let's this hotel down was the actual planning and car parking facilities, which are non existent! you have to park your vehicle across the road in a small retail park albeit with a hotel notice, but! you must vacate and be out for 9am the next morning, otherwise you'll end up paying a PCN. Other than that, no real issues whatsoever, I'll go back. July 26, 2013

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Fuss-free and Quiet when staying away on a short hop, the best things I hope for are a fuss-free stay which takes up none of my time in sorting anything out, so I can relax; and my sleep-time being quiet. HI Express Stevenage ticked all the boxes. I'm always worried about quiet sleep-time, especially in a town location, but I'm pleased to say that night-times were silent and I was able to sleep through, with no traffic disturbance. Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by ..and been here a few times! I've stayed here many times, and will so many more. It's local to a customer so handy for that. The rooms are standard HIE fare, the staff welcoming and PC members get recognition, normally a welcome bottle of water and access to the GYM next door. As there is no on-site evening restaurant, they have an arrangement with local restaurants where you order and have the food delivered, and charge to your room. Very Useful! Downside? On-site parking is limited, but free parking over the road in the M*t*l*n car park after 5pm. June 4, 2013
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by One of the worst clean hotels I've ever stayed in. This place is clean. Thats the end of the good. This was one of the worst experiences I've had in a hotel. As others mentioned, no parking. They have just a few spaces, so you can park for free during the night, but during the day? Well you need to find parking. The website did not warn this. The food was horrible. Very burnt and probably the worst breakfast I've had in a hotel in years. Internet service was extremely slow. So slow that you just won’t use it. Finally they spent about 20 minutes trying to check me in, and get a card to run. I had this problem nowhere else. The absolute worst? THE BEDS ARE MADE OF ROCKS. I don’t usually get back pain but had horrible back pain after staying at this place. I had to leave after two days and went to the holiday inn next door. Much better location. Also, I asked them to add my priority club to my account, this still has not been done even though I have contacted Holiday Inn online about this and was told at the desk it was added. Headaches just continue here. May 31, 2013
Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by Mediocre HI Express Stayed at Holida Inn Express properties all over the world. It seems that the international versions are always a little less nice than the U.S properties, so that's fine and well and I am taking that into account. This property I feel is a little below the already lower standards for international versions. There are no luggage carts, parking is across the street in a public lot - so you have to carry your luggage over a curb and then down and across the street. The sheets are low quality, as is the mattress. The carpet is somewhat dingy. Just overall pretty mediocre for what I've come to expect from a Holiday Inn Express. Would stay elsewhere. May 27, 2013
Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Power was out in the room, and the fire alarm kept going off through the night No problem on arrival, staff were fine and I checked in ok. The power was out on all the sockets in my room - So I was unable to watch TV or make myself a hot drink. I reported the fault, and to be fair they put a maintenance guy on it. I went out for dinner, and the fault was fixed on my return. The worst thing was the Fire alarm. It was faulty and went off 3 times during the night, and during the "evacuation" the first time it happened I spoke to a guy who had been there a week and said it had happened several times. I had a completely ruined night sleep, and there wasn't a single acknowledgement, let alone an apology, from the staff either at the time or during breakfast or checkout - completely terrible customer service, they'd obviously just got used to it happening night after night and brushed it off. Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Not as good as it could be My visit to this hotel was a mixed experience, the staff are remote and automated, They fail to engage the guest with the exception of an older receptionist who was pleasant, The first room had a faulty TV, which meant I had to go all the way down and get another key for another room. Not what you want after a busy day travelling. The parking is OK but extremely limited, they share Matalans car park until 9am you would then have to pay and display. The hotel is crammed into the town centre near the bus station with very tight roads and no facilities near by. A car drive takes you to the Complex on Six Hills Way which has many options for food and drink. Summing up. Clean room, good shower, remote staff. Poor position for hotel. April 3, 2013
Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by booking issue I arrived at this hotel to find that I did not have a booking. When the receptionist searched further, she found that my booking, made by internet approx 10 days before on a pre-paid no cancellation basis, had mysteriously been cancelled at midnight on the Saturday prior to my stay!! There was no explanation for this, and I was told 'you are lucky we have a bedroom available' - my thoughts were 'no, YOU are lucky you have a bedroom available!' I have previously enjoyed happy stays in 'express by holiday inn' hotels so am hoping this was a one-off! March 28, 2013

And the receptionist only believed me when I showed him the booking acknowledgement I had received by email The only non smoking room available was for twin bed (I had booked a double) and this room was for wheelchair access The TV failed to work and there was no hot water when I wanted a shower in the morning - also you had to pump the toilet handle to get it to flush No apology given - I was told that I must be unlucky Stevenage HI Express - never again March 27, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by fantastic value for money Quick and easy check in, for the first time ever priority club membership was acknowedged, and bottled water and free late checkout offered. Room was exceptionally clean and comfortable, even with sofabed in use. Small problem with the room (bedding not available for sofabed) was quickly and politely sorted out by helpful staff. Great breakfast, no hassle, sit as long as you want, staff quick to top up as food was used, even though the hotel was apparently busy. Terrific bargain on advance saver deal. Have stayed her a couple of times before, will definitely do so again. March 23, 2013

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by Cleanliness, and condition of room / bedding / towels I have stayed at Express by Holiday Inn many, many times in the UK, especially, and it would not be an exaggeration if I say this one was one of the worst among the Holiday Inn hotels-Express in terms of the condition of the room, generally, and specifically, cleanliness of the towels, bathroom area, etc. and I think I would not probably recommend this particular hotel to people personally. However, in fairness, I should say I enjoyed breakfast, with a fairly good range of hot, English breakfast menu, as well as the continental options, and the staff were generally helpful. Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Short Stay We stayed 1 night whilst visiting our son in Stevenage. The hotel was easy to find and very conveniently situated. The staff were very friendly and efficient. Checking in and out was easy and quick. Our room was a good size and spotless. Unfortunately the bed was a little strange in that it seemed very soft and to magnify every movement which did not lead to the most comfortable nights sleep! One further thing, there is very little parking at the hotel itself, there is free parking across the road in Matalan after 5.00pm but the website could make this clearer. Beware the very keen parking wardens patrolling the short term parking on the street! February 28, 2013
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Excellent Budget Hotel Second time we have stayed here. This time it was to spend a couple of days in London (only 25 mins away by train). For a budget hotel this one is brilliant (Much cheaper than staying in London itself). Other budget hotels do not include breakfast and we were impressed with the choice of cereal, toast, pastries, fruit, yoghurts and some hot items. Unlimited juice and coffees included. Staff are always extremely helpful and friendly and there is a nice bar area. Room was very clean, tidy and comfortable. Only very slight negative is there is only a shower no bath in the bathroom.
