I have been staying in this hotel for probably 10+ years now. Its in an excellent location with easy access to Glasgow or Edinburgh, nice and quite area with the country park outside and good food from the Toby Carvery outside. Staff are professional and helpful and I have never experienced any issues during my stay.
However, the building is now starting to look dated and show its age... bedrooms have old TV's, with poor picture quality and remotes which have been used for so long all the writing on the buttons has worn away - a big bug of mine is that you cannot set a sleep timer on them either!. The rooms although clean have marked walls, chipped paint work and could do with redecorating. The bathrooms - again although clean - have discolored grout, cracked tiles and the taps had the enamel worn away.
Next time I'm in the area I would still choose to stay here, but I do think a splash of paint and update would go along way

Web site states 32" TV's only have the old 24" with 6 channels of very poor picture quality.

The menu was to expensive and had to few options. The plus is there is a Toby Carvery right next door that offers a wider food range at a much better price.

The stay was great but, the breakfast was terrible. Working for a rival company, i know how important a breakfast is to a guest and this breakfast was poor at best.

Stopped overnight on the way to visit our daughter and partner in Aberdeen. Really handy for the motorway network, hardly any road noise considering right next to J5. Nice clean comfy rooms, a little cooler than would have liked, heater not doing a fat lot and could not be adjusted.
Breakfast pretty good, plenty to choose from not rushed either, would stay here again next time, makes the 500 mile trip up easier with a break.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by RishD Out of Date Hotel
Having stayed at many Holiday Inn Express hotels this place is the worst one -
(i) Extremely dated interior
(ii) Depressing reception area (has a very cold, dull look about it)
(iii) Rooms smelled (reason being mould covering the ceiling of the bathroom.
Staff were friendly though, but the overall hotel needs knocking down and re-doing from scratch.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by JohnC50 staff are helpful and try to be accommodating.
We have stayed at this hotel on many occassions and found that the staff try to ensure you have a comfortable stay.
I make particular reference to Cheryl and the Manager Isabella who go the extra mile.
The rooms we have always found to be clean and comfortable albeit some bathrooms are becoming a little tired and could do with updating.
Our main critism would be the meal menu and food which are disappointing. Most folks tend to now go out and whilst the adjoining Toby Carvery is good it is very restrictive and therefore for any variety you have to drive and with the new drink drive limits a glass of wine is a problem,
For that overnight stop however you will not be disappointed.
