Was what I expected and perhaps more location was good but signage to hotel not good staff were excellent and room was clean breakfast was fine given what I paid very good would recommend the hotel and facilities close by

Like many hotel chains, you begin to know what to expect. This venue provided excellent levels of cleanliness , room comfort and staff efficiency. However, sadly typical of HI Express , the cooked breakfast selection was somewhat lacking but , as I said , I've come to expect this ! Bar food was fast, efficient and tasty tho' a bit pricey for what you get. Bar drinks prices too are a little steep. With no fizzy-mixers on tap, everything is bottled so a J20 made up to a pint with Soda (yes - soda - ie fizzy water) came to a staggering £4.70. The adjoining Toby Inn - which is no doubt outside of HI's control - offered only either full carvery type meals or a small selection of "bar favourites" .
Overall tho' a very pleasant few days stay. For longer trips I'd opt for the nearby Hamilton HI located within a small shopping mall environment with greater external food selection and town centre only a few minutes walk away.

Reception area cold & uninviting on arrival, Priority Guest membership a waste of time as I still had to wait to go through 'check-in' formalities including payment for my room & pre-authorisation of my card for which I wasn't even offered a receipt.
Room heating very dated & barely effective, bed quilt was wafer thin having seen better days, tv also dated offering only 9 free view channels.
A visit to the bar offered no hope of improvement with extremely limited choice of beer, lager & soft drinks. Bar food menu was also limited in choice, poor quality & over priced.
Overall very poor value for money in comparison with other similarly priced brands.
Not an experience I'll be in a hurry to repeat.
