Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Nice Place to Stay We happened to get to Charleston on a weekend where all of the rooms in town were booked. One hotel clerk recommended the HI Express at Summerville, called and booked a room for us. The HI Express clerk advised it was their last room so we drove out there to stay. The staff couldn't have been nicer and it was indeed their last room while undergoing renovations. I have to say I had diminished expectations on arrival but they did a great job making us feel welcome. I wouldn't mind staying there any time in the future if my business needs were flexible so I could get into Charleston without hassle. April 16, 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by dissappointed when arriving to this location, I was shocked to see the renovations weren't as I expected. it still looked like an old hotel with fresh paint. They had a desk and PC in the lobby for guest, so not sure if that was a makeshift "business center" or the actual business center. For the price I paid, I was expecting a more updated hotel and room. I saw in the reviews the hotel was newly renovated, but wasn't prepared to see the floor I was assigned (5th) was still under construction. Even with the fresh paint and wallpaper, it's still not worth even the corporate rate I paid. One morning I opened my door and was blocked in because they were wall papering the ceiling. Since I didn't want to disturb the contractors, I asked if he would be so kind as to knock on my door when he was finished, so we can leave the room. April 15, 2015

However, that didn't distract from the quality of our stay. We have used HIE for several years because of the great value we feel we receive. This stay was no different. April 14, 2015

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Comfortable place to stay. Mostly I appreciated the cleanliness and comfort of this hotel. For the most part, the room was insulated from outside noise; except I could hear people in the hallway right outside my room. The staff were very courteous. As someone who doesn't much like to travel, this hotel made me feel as much at home as possible - especially considering the reasonable cost compared to more expensive hotels. April 11, 2015
Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by Tremendous Southern Hospitality I arrived from the West Coast at the Summerville Holiday Inn Express @ 1:00am, tired and haggard. The worst part is during the trip, I lost my wallet. There I was, no credit cards, no DL, and no cash. The next morning the Hotel manager Rohan, personally drove me to a local bank so I could get some cash to survive on until AMEX could overnight me new credit cards!! After 30 years of traveling, I have never had such great caring, courtesy, and empathy for my plight. The ENTIRE hotel staff were wonderful!! I would recommend this property to anyone and everyone in the Charleston area. You will be treated like royalty. As you can tell, I can't say enough good things about this hotel and the incomparable service you will receive. I hated to leave. Not to mention, the room was the perfect place to recover from such a traumatic beginning to a wonderful trip. I don't work for them, was not paid, this is truly my experience. April 9, 2015
Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Great Stay I was in town for some family events. The hotel was conveniently located to where I needed to be. The staff was always helpful and friendly with smiles on their faces. We were in a remodeling zone, so while the furniture in our room was outdated and worn, the beds/mattresses were new and very comfy. The bed linens were also very nice and cozy, very inviting.
