Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Hospitality Promise Broken We came back from dinner and had to put our leftovers in the fridge and noticed that there was an Applebee's left over to go box inside that must have been left there by the previous guests and that the fridge wasn't working. My husband tried to figure out what was wrong but couldn't so he tried to call the front desk but the phone was not working as well. So he decided to walk up to the front desk to get some help. Jamie was on the phone and Jay was talking to who seemed to be a friend because he was the same person who carried a replacement fridge to our room later on. He told Jay about the fridge and the phone problems but he said that there was no maintenance at the moment so it will be looked at in the morning. Jamie told him to go to the room to check it out but he said no because he apparently knew that it was broken and had already been reported earlier. My question was why were we put in a room that is needing repairs? Anyhow, my husband asked for a manager to speak with and he was told again that there was no manager so he said, "How convenient, no maintenance and no manager," and walked away. He overheard them talking behind his back so he blurted out, "Be nice, I am a paying customer!" Few minutes later, Jamie came knocking on our door and tried to apologize and fix the fridge. We handed her the leftover food from the previous guests. Then another knock followed, it was Jay and he said he will switch out the fridge from another room which he did and the guy he was talking to earlier at the front desk carried it to the room. The fridge problem was fixed but the phone was not. No apologies heard from Jay about his attitude. Whatever happened to the promise of making "your stay a complete success and letting the manager and staff know if any part of your stay isn't satisfactory or you won't pay for that part of your stay?" Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by this is our hotel of choice when in the south Austin area Very pleased with this hotel. we were here twice on our last trip to Austin. Stayed for a couple of days, then needed to go to a very expensive chain in Austin downtown for a conference, then back for another night. This hotel outshines the expensive chain by leaps and bounds!! Upon check-in greeted with smile and a small token of appreciation for being an IHG club member( the only HIE we've been in that does this). Our rooms are always clean and comfortable. The breakfast is delicious and always kept filled. The staff very polite. A bit more pricey than other HIEs , I assume because its in Austin. * The only con is where it is. Not a bad part of town but the drive way sneaks up on you off a busy road just after a curve. It is not well marked. You can see the Hotel from the road but not the driveway till you are on top of it or as you pass it. March 16, 2015
