We stay here when ever we are in Duluth.
We are platinum club card holders so we went to the "reception"
30 mins. after it started. There was 3 of us they gave us 2 free drinks, there was 5 meatballs left and some chip crumbs.
I thought they were going to bring more out but when we asked they said nope that's it. Not the end of the world put if they are going to go thru the trouble of having a reception they should make the guests happy, not feel like we wasted our time.
The elevators are always hard to get especially at "rush hour"
Other then that we like the place.

Rated 3.0 out of 5.0 by 55350 OK location, an older hotel that needs some updating
some rooms have been updated, ours had not. good location, not on the canal park strip, so price was more affordable. this hotel has 2 pools on two different floors. our stay was fine, but I look forward to the day when all the rooms have been updated and refurbished - wear and tear is showing

Although our stay was pleasant each night as I laid down in bed, I had to look at the brown spotted area in the ceiling. This isn't a difficult fix and needs attention.

I can certainly understand and appreciate a busy hotel, but there was no attempt by your staff or management to ensure Guest comfort. Walls are paper thin and no one patrols the halls late at night or even advises those returning late (after 2am) to be considerate of others who may be sleeping. When I mentioned this to your staff, I got blank look, and never once in 7 days saw the GM...not even from a distance. Your own staff contributed to the daily disruptions by having loud conversations outside our room prior to 7 am....so bad that I had to open the door and remind them of what time it was. I called down to the front desk several times after midnight to complain of late night noise and nothing was ever done. Partly, are there service elevators in your hotel? If so, your staff doesn't use them. It is really inconvenient to have to wait for a second elevator because hotel staff is riding guest elevators between floors- I counted as many as six staff at once on one occasion. They should strains to step OUT whenever guests are trying to step in since we are paying for the privilege of the ride. We will be back in Duluth three more weeks but sadly will not stay at this hotel again. It is a poor representation of the IHG brand.

The rooms have been updated and they are great! Room was clean and comfortable! Seemed fresh and air moved well in the room! It's always a treat to have a great view and be in the middle of the city!

bathtub had stains, cracks in tile. toilet paper roller doesn't roll. Carpet really dirty looking. Room wasn't worth the money. I am glad I got the amsoil discount. We tryed to stay one more day, but price went up and I wasn't paying that kind of money for that room.

We had a room on the 15th floor overlooking the harbor - it was beautiful. Easy walk on the skyway to the Lake.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Marynd Room was great - services average
We recently stayed at your hotel. We loved the view from our room & the beds were very comfortable. The staff at the front desk were very friendly. However, there were two concerns during our stay. First the absolute lack of towels at both pools on Saturday night. When I noticed before using the pool, I went to the front desk & was told they were "working on it." However, during the time we were in the pool area no towels were delivered.
If we have been aware of the problem, we would have taken towels from our room - but we were on the 15th floor and didn't want to wait for elevators #very slow at times#.
The other issue was lack of plug-ins - hopefully, you can update your electronic situation with the renovations.

The staff was very helpful and friendly. We used the shuttle service a couple times because my husband was walking with a cane. We tried the skyway once and that was nice but a lot of walking for him. Very nice hotel and we really enjoyed out stay.

Rated 1.0 out of 5.0 by Samshank Functioning like a Motel-Poor Quality ... Smell and Unclean
The hotel is functioning like a motel. The bathroom door make noise when closing and improperly aligned stayed in Room-1027 Pl check. The hotel is dirty and smelling elevator. The pool inside is a bad idea. Very humid with water vapor and dirty water park smell. The room's air conditioner makes a weird noise every couple of minutes. Sounds like fireworks bursting and never had a good sleep. The service in the reception is bad and the porter's cafe never serves hour hours-have bunch of people doing error charging my friend's food in my credit card. I regret staying.I cancelled at other and booked holiday inn and just found the brand logo and lighting alone is Holiday inn and not the service and cleanliness. My mind, I wanted money back... but we never had a choice to stay.

The view that we had from our window was amazing! The service that was given to us by the workers at the front desk was wonderful with our 100's of questions about where to eat, where to go for entertainment and how to get onto the sky walk. The coffee machines in the rooms are a great convenience and the cutest things I have ever seen and the smell of the shampoos/conditioners and body lotion were amazing!! Thank you!!

We spent one night in the king suite with a lake view. The room was spacious and comfortable. We spent two nights in Duluth but only one at Holiday Inn.....wish we would have spent both nights there!! We will definitely consider this location for our next stay in Duluth.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by LittleBug Great 1 night room in Duluth
I like that the Holiday Inn does not require a 2 night minimum like a lot of the other hotels do. The elevators are the slowest I have ever seen, so cram as many folks in there as you can. 8:30 is a little early for the pool to open, especially when a baby is screaming at the top of their lungs there. The pool on the 8th floor is much nicer than the one on the 3rd floor. Room was clean and beds were comfortable.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by arby2 Everything great except the pillows
I stayed here with 2 small children and had a great time. We got a recently renovated room. I was surprised at how quiet it was. I love that you have the option to run the heater/AC at "fan only" for a little white noise and perfect sleep environment. The 2 pools are GREAT. The pool water was PERFECT temperature-- which is very important to me. No one wants a freezing pool. The staff was very friendly and accommodating. We paid extra for the breakfast add-on and it was good food with good service.
The only complaint I have was the pillows. We had many of them (4 per bed I believe) but they were all the same-- rock hard and about a foot in thickness. Felt like sleeping on a large boulder. To make this hotel perfect, I would recommend adding some softer pillows to the room. I will stay here again and bring my pillow from home :)
Thanks for a great stay!

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by tanker34 Goood accomodatioins for us
I was vacationing with my two adult daughters so the room arrangement was perfect. The cost of the first night was much more that I usually pay for a hotel but we had made the plans and that was what was available.
The first night I was awakened two times by people talking loud!!! The last time it was 3 in the morning and I finally called the desk, I think someone around the man yelled at the man so he finally went to bed. I am sure the desk responded also. The swimming pool was also very lout until about 10:30 but it was lots of kids and families so it was noisy but healthy noise.
I am always cold in bed and I asked for an extra quilt and I got a wonderful, clean, crisp quilt that was great for me.
Thanks for asking....
My husband and I often stay in Holiday Inn Expresses and love them. We are members of the Holiday Inn program, not sure if I used my priority club number on my stay

We were in Superior for Grandma's Marathon and have stayed at this hotel for several years. It is convenient to the race - we can walk everywhere once we park our car at the hotel. The room was clean, supplies were kept up and staff was very friendly and helpful. Check in was awesome!!

We stayed at the Holiday inn in Duluth, MN. We booked a mid-week vacation, so the hotel was not that crowded. We stayed in a newly renovated room--and it was very nice and comfortable. Clean and had some extras which we were not expecting(mini fridge--nice!). We were on the same floor as the pool--but down the hall, so it was wonderfully quiet. The staff was helpful and friendly-esp the housekeeping staff which was extra helpful when my toddler was sleeping and we needed extra supplies. Close to attractions and easy to find your way from the hotel.

Rated 5.0 out of 5.0 by quiltshowattendee good place
The hotel was a fine place to stay to see Duluth. Despite its name, it is not in Canal Park. However, it's in the skyway system, so one can get to the movies, DECC and Amsoil Arena without going outside -- or having to climb up the hill. It's about a 5 - 10 minute walk to DECC. A bonus was that we had a room on the 9th floor, facing the harbor, which was just lovely!!

I will be doing business again in Duluth area -I will certainly drive an extra 30-40 miles just to make sure this hotel is where I stay. Comfortable and quiet -I was even on the floor just above the pool. Barely heard the kids swimming (not mine!).
I highly recommend making this a place to stay.

We are from Thunder Bay and came on an impulse trip to duluth. We unfortunatly picked a weekend a hockey/soccer tournament was happening and we were given a 8th floor room that was very close to the pool. It would have been perfect if it werent for the screaming kids till 10pm,but then it was unavoidable..but it would have been nicer to have been roomed further away from all the kiddy action. The location is perfect for walking to canal park, the driver took us to red lobster right away ,service was awesome, and desk staff apologetic for the noise. The location is very convienient, have stayed here before and always enjoy this hotel. We did get upgraded for being a priority club member so that was nice

Rated 2.0 out of 5.0 by sweetberry Rooms and location were good but.....
Overall the accommodations were nice. The front desk staff was kind. I travel often for work and for my sons hockey. This particular trip was a hockey trip. Our AAA association had six teams at the Battle of the Bay tournament and occupied a good portion of the hotel since most of us came 4+ hours. The part that was dissatisfying was as parents we spend most of our days in rinks and at night would like to relax with other parents. I understand that large establishments require rules to keep order but seriously making the parents go to there own rooms at 10:30. Last time I checked we were all adults and no longer needed a curfew. When management was asked if we could use the lobby, we were told NO! We asked if we could rent a hospitality room. Again told NO! We were told that we could go to a local bar. Not really a fan of leaving my children to go to a bar but would like some adult time after they are sleeping. I suggest that for future events in your hotel, flex some rules or provide alternatives for familys and friends. Maybe keep the pool open till 11:30 on the weekends. For the amount of money that was paid to stay there, the night time manager was not kind or understanding. With hockey being as popular in the north that it is, I find it difficult to believe that this is the first complaint. No one was being beligerant or rude and even offered to pay for another room to RELAX in. A negative atmosphere was created for our group.

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by Sally414 Comfortable, great views if on the east side of the building
Overall a pleasant stay. The only negative is that it is not located on the water where some of the other hotels are. However, it is right downtown and connected to everything by means of the skywalk system (a series of covered enclosed pathways).

Rated 4.0 out of 5.0 by mommap nice room
Stayed for 3 nights, with my son and my mom. Room was comfortable and quiet even though we were close to elevator. Housekeeping awesome, staff at front desk informative, but large main restaurant needs some attention. Setting is beautiful, food not so great. Orange seed in hot water for tea, hair in ketchup dish and dried up food on 2 forks. Coffee could have been hotter. We only ate their once as it turned us off for the rest of the time. Would stay again at the holiday inn for the price, hotel otherwise good.

We were very impressed with the room quality! Very clean and nice. Only cons were there was no breakfast and a tiny old fridge in the room (but the fridge did keep our pop cool). The front desk staff was extremely friendly and courteous. Would stay here again.

We stayed here while attending our son's graduation from UMD. The ceremony was at Amsoil Arena, so we could walk from the hotel through the skyway. This was wonderful! We also paid for the breakfast plan which was great too. The only thing we did not have that would have been nice was a refrigerator in the room. We were by the pool which was convenient, but there were lots of kids running in the hallways for an hour after the pool closed. Overall, stay was great and we will go there again.
